Thanks for the video. I went to replace my gauge last week and received the wrong gauge. I didn't know until I removed the old one and saw a vast difference. Interesting this time that I, too, got wet when I took the gauge out. I put my finger over the hole and then put the new one in. The first time it was just a trickle. Of course, the temp reads good this time but pressure is still at zero. I'll wait a bit and see if something good happens when the system cycles. Also replaced the drain cock. Used the original only once or twice in the last 20 years and it wouldn't seat all the way. Pulled it off and put in a ball valve unit. Should be good

Just a note, ASME Code, Section IV, Heating Boilers has required the minimum thermometer range be 70°F - 320°F since 2013.

Any idea where to find replacement gauge for a Pennco boiler? Mine is totally messed up. Shows 30 psi after filled and 15 psi when empty.
@kavelone79322 жыл бұрын
It seemed like the pressure was still climbing. I think that extrol tank was the issue or the water feeder set too high possibly.
@andyajitsingh91275 жыл бұрын
I noticed that you changed the expansion tank because there was fresh Megaloc dope on the threads and you didn’t wipe off the excess dope with a rag. Wipe off the excess dope next time so that it looks good ?

Good idea changing out the gauge Chuck. Off by 10# from the freeze up/gauge probably wrapped on high pressure, giving bad pressure reading....fill valve was doing what it was set to do......

Hi there, nice video, wondering how do you purge the air out of the boiler after changing the tridacator without it going to the zones? Thanks.

Radiators had bleeders Paul
@paulsantangelo38134 жыл бұрын
Chuck Barron mine do not, what i was thinking is moving the pressure valve when refilling the system or should i just bleed the zones?

My system needs a new gauge and a new expansion tank. Pipes look pretty corroded. Is there much chance of damaging threads or breaking anything unscrewing them?
@ChuckBarron4 жыл бұрын
na. just hold back.
@Littlelewie1514 жыл бұрын
@@ChuckBarron just did it yesterday. The threads were almost perfect lmao. Now the expensive problem. Getting the gas valve replaced. My state won't allow me to buy one myself.

Hi Chuck: I am so new with the hydronic boiler pressure. The company who replaced my new boiler and my house doesn't warm. I would like to ask if this temperature gauge reaches to 70 degrees Faraday and redo another cycle. the pressure is 15psi... the setting range is 140 to 180 why it went down 70 degrees? Thanks!
@ChuckBarron3 жыл бұрын
Get er checked out. I like my limit 180
@HT-vs8bj3 жыл бұрын
@@ChuckBarron My limit setting is 180... is the boiler tossing to 180 then drop until 70... even though the setting is 180... I know this is a dumb question.

You drained the radiator pipes but you didn’t drain the boiler. I think the other guy that said that there’s a check valve in the 007 circulator may be right also ?

Hold it you have to drain a hydronic boiler to change the pressure and temperature gauge?

Does anyone design an extension system for this gauge? Mine is located on the side of the boiler facing a wall, and I can't read it. I could if it could be elevated and angled.

You should always drain a boiler through the boiler drain and not the pipes. You’ll be definitely draining everything then. I always and I mean always drain down the system through the boiler drain. Don’t you drain a hot water tank through its drain ? That’s the same principle. Just saying. Why didn’t you show us that you installed a new expansion tank ?
@throttlebottle59065 жыл бұрын
he was bitten by taco 007 pump being the IFC model. (integral flow check) so the boiler and supply piping throughout house didn't drain down. one learns fast to look at the motor end/plate they say "IFC" in large letters on the end. grundfos comes with the check valve separate in box, you choose to install it or not and a sticker you place on the end saying flow check
@andyajitsingh91275 жыл бұрын
throttle bottle okay, you’re probably right. I agree with you.
