I get it Hyundai. We already bought the cars and we’re two generations of head units behind. It’s not worth much effort for these updates. Hi, love your channel. I have a 2024 Ioniq 5. It is my first EV and I truly love this car. I do wish I could have waited for 2025 and a rear wiper but I needed a car. Software can’t fix the lack of a rear wiper but there are some other things that could be improved. I want just five things from you Hyundai. In order of importance to me they are: 1. Persistent i-Pedal. Let me set that as my default and make it stick. 2. Let me use Carplay and Android auto route planning apps to plan and navigate routes with charging stops and integrate that with battery pre-conditioning. 3. Walk away locks. (I know this would put a dent in your sales Corbin. Sorry buddy). 4. Give me the option to manually pre-condition my battery. 5. Move the speedometer reading to the centre of the display. That’s it. Not too much to ask, I think.

The climate/warmer buttons update is the MASSIVE quality of life improvement here. That old Warmer screen looked nice, but was locked when in D (couldn’t use the sliders, had to tap the buttons instead). It also had the most annoying bug where if one taps the ventilation seats and wants a lower level of cooling, the system would switch to heating the seats at the highest level instead. I don’t understand why the WARMER screen has to be so small and in the middle of the screen; put giant targets for us to hit instead please. The rest of the screen is empty anyway. But it’s still a welcome fix. Thanks for that Hyundai!

The new seat warmer/cooling interface is great. The changes to route planning are also good. Getting ridof that initial pop-up screen was much needed. Also, the route overview now shows arrival SoC, percentage to charge to, and duration for each charge stop. It also shows number of stalls and availability, as well as SoC on arrival at your final destination. Manual preconditioning would be great.

I'm curious of what is your experience using non-built-in gps. Can you have the car preheating automatically? Is the HUD still usefull? Since its android auto and not google automotive, does it allow you to plan for chargers stops?
@ChuckvdL2 ай бұрын
That depends a lot on what nav app you are using, and its integration with CarPlay/andriodauto. Preconditioning is only activated by the in-car nav set to a charger, which is why we are all asking for a manual button. Setting a destination in a CarPlay nav app cancels in-car nav, and vise versa. Like the Highlander, there can be only one (app giving directions). If I want to have Waze warning of hazards, and preconditioning going I have to run Waze on a tablet that’s not CarPlay. HUD usability has been limited but we have reports here that with Android there’s better HUD integration, but not specifically what has improved. I haven’t tested the newest CarPlay to see if I get anything in the HUD or directions dashboard widget when using Waze. (Update just installed, and it’s crappy weather to test drive right now)

Compare-and-contrast episodes between the different BINs in the different cars _and_ between them and whatever nav system you do use would be of use your audience. And while I am here: Have you suffered any confusion switching between the Ioniq 5 and 6 because of the steering wheel controls layout? This update is kind of a disappointment but at the same time I think we'll get another one by the end of the year or beginning of Q1 2025 as the new 2025 I5 with the NACS port will be introduced in the NA market and thus it would make sense for Hyundai to OTA at the same time a software update to add the SuperCharger as POI (route planning) and being able to start/stop the charge from the car at the SC (needed if Hyundai do not want us to use the Tesla app)... this would make sense but Hyundai software release contents doesn't always make sense... Let's hope for an update that will include : manual battery preconditionning start/stop, ICCU charging the 12 VDC aux battery when main battery SOC is > 5% instead of >20% (I really don't care to have 20% SOC if I'm not able to get in the car and start it because the 12V battery is dead...), customizable charger target arrival % SOC...brake lights that stay off if I'm travelling at 70MPH down a small decline on the highway with SCC set at 70 and SCC is keeping the speed steady why would the brake light gets turn on... seems that normal behaviour since my speed is steady shouldn't be to indicate that I hit the brakes...

I bought a Genesis in 2017 betting that I’d be happy with the “Genesis” experience soon after purchase. Three years later it was worse (Covid didn’t help) with no signs of improvement on the horizon. I sold the G90. Now I’ve taken the plunge into the EV world with the I5. So far so good but the dealer experience is still subpar. Fortunately I don’t have to deal with them much. Sad.

I don’t think I’ve heard anyone rave about how great the service dept is at their EV dealer. But I would expect better from the brands charging a premium for a supposedly better experience. Fortunately the service required for a GV60 is nearly all rotating tires, and occasionally inspecting things. But unfortunately appointments are booked solid for weeks. who plans tire rotations more than a month in advance?

you should really stop with the android auto wireless, everyone i know including me hates it, it drains the battery (of the phone) and make the phone really HOT. it's WAY better when plugged in. Charge the phone and and doesn't makes the phone like a hot sun Even the rear wiper, humanity did survive with about 88% of cars without it... You should really focus on realy problem, like ICCU, 12v battery, the services hyundai gives or even the preconditioning battery ''button'' those a real issues the others mention above or just convenience nothing else. But with that said i really like your video like accesories !

thumps up @paulovincente2954 (in the comments) he adds nice ideas !! 1.

More useless stuff. Why can't they do useful stuff like my Tesla model 3 does. We took a road trip with that car recently rather than our Ioniq5 to use their charging network. The software just maps it out for you, it shows how many chargers are there and how many are in use and it also shows how many cars are approaching the charger so you can figure if you want to deal with crowds there or not.

So you start your evaluation babbling about a small, incidental part of the update. Why belittle the entire OAT update that way? Boo to you. Why did you not start with showing the welcome, though small, but still valuable improvements to trip planning? I, for one, was disappointed in your approach to this.
