You are a hero of the people sir. Thanks to you I was able to fix my Sonata after the local shop gave me an estimate of $7500 for a 18 year old car! Thanks to you I can continue to work to support my family. The parts was only $400 and it took one weekend. Thank you thank you thank you.

For those doing this on a Gen 5 Sonata (2006-2010) this procedure is very similar. The only differences are the upper control arm mounting bolts, and the lower control arm rearward bushing bolt(s) is/are different. Some of the bolts for the wires/hoses might be slightly different in placement, and the lower ball joint might be bolted on instead of pressed in (couldn't tell which he has in the video since he doesn't need to actually remove it).

Thumbs up, and thanks for the instruction. Good technique showing all the bolts/nuts you will remove before doing it. Good sequence as well. My only criticism is you didn't use a torque wrench and it looked to me some bolts may be over-torqued with your impact wrench. Lastly, the lower control arm bushing bolts should be installed loosely at first, then lower the car to rest on the wheels and torque the LCA bushing bolts at that time. Thanks for the clear explanation and no trash talk or dumb music in the background.

Good video and camera work I thought. I’m doing this in my garage at home currently. Couple questions: 1. What about the torque specs? I have an air gun and a torque wrench. Should I not worry about specs? 2. About 1:30 you said “ball joint”. Was that upper only, which comes pressed with ball joint? I’m replacing the lower as well (since it’s so easy on this model), and didn’t see that in the video. 3. The speed sensor. You didn’t show that uninstall up top (it’s pretty obvious), but why loosen it off the knuckle if it’s not being replaced? I’m not a mechanic but I’m pretty handy, and this is my first time doing something this “major”. Other videos I’ve watched stress importance of torque specs, not getting grease on the rotor, not using the rotor to press in the caliper (unless replacing), supporting the axle, etc. Are those things I should worry about, or not really? I really appreciate that you show how the heavy work is done, and don’t try to tell me how to clip in a wire and what brands to buy, Thank you!
@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair2 жыл бұрын
Grant Stensland I'm glad to hear that the video will be helpful, you remove the sensor from the knuckle because the steering knuckle has to come out to replace the strut unless you can unbolt the sensor from it's mounting hole, what bolts do you need torque specs for?

Well done! Thanks for a great informational VIDEO. You got it done with OUT a lot of pointless talking! It would be nice to have tighter shots while your working BUT which hand is going to run the camera ? You did a great job of explaining as you went so SKIP the camera comment!
