I almost ruined my new Laguna 18-36 the first time i went to use it, you only need to watch the first two minutes,the rest is boring LOL

Juan, I've owned that lathe for almost three years and until I watched this video I had no idea the spindle could be adjusted like that. Even more embarrassing, I also didn't know I could remove that beat up center from the barrel. I don't know how I've managed to stay alive for so long. Thanks for the education.

I enjoyed the video, nice setup. Just to pass along the safety message my old machine shop teacher drilled into my head years ago, never have the chuck key in the chuck unless you hand is actually on it. If you bump start on a lathe and the key is in there like that it goes through walls...or so I'm told lol. I'll go check my wood lathe alignment now.

Good advice, same goes for drill presses. My dad has its chuck key duct-taped to the press' power cord, so that it's basically impossible to leave it in the chuck and forget/not notice. Same for his power drills, it's a very effective technique.

I think the biggest problem you had was that the blank you were turning was way out of balance. Why didn't you turn the old center off after you realined the center.

Is that motor (controller) screech really that loud? I'm thinking about getting that lathe, but I wouldn't be able to stand the screech. Thanks!

No really, the sound was boosted on that clip, but so you know, all lathes are loud at high speed on belt position one for torque. also running a very low speed witch you'll never do otherwise you won't get a good cut. Having said that, my friend has a Oneway and is definitely smoother than mine.
