Hey simon, thanks for the good info on the new lathe. my lathe salesman here told me of a fellow who bought the 18\36, plus 2 additional beds becausehe was turning columns for peoples front porches. of course these are big new houses. anyway enjoy keep up the good work.

HI SG! You stated the new lathe is more stable without the leveling feet. Could that be a result of the heavier legs and not the feet? It would be interesting to see a test of the same out-of-balance piece, same speed, with and without the feet. Thanks for your videos! Ely

I really like your videos. I wondered if holding the head stock lock button with one hand and then remove the chuck with your other hand was a pain? Do you find the higher tool rest on the 24/36 compared to the lower tool rest on the 18/36 too high or uncomfortable?

+mmfenske1 Thank you sir, no the foot of the 24 is lower so the tool rest it at the same height. And no its really easy to remove the chuck.

The Laguna website shows the bed on both models at 32.5" from the floor. However, they show the floor to spindle distance as 41.5" for the 18/36 and 44.5" for the 24/36. Does this extra 3" higher that you would need to raise the tool rest make holding tools uncomfortable on the 24/36 compared to the 18/36?

+mmfenske1 no, there little ajustable foot and like I do I remove it for more stability.

If you want both hands free to remove a chuck you can use the indexing function to lock the spindle as well.
