6.0’s are great engines. It has the performance of the newer diesels, with the relative simplicity of the older engines. Cheaper to fix than a 6.7. Can be very reliable, but most people are not educated on it enough to get there. Lots of kids beating on these things ‘cause it’s a hot rod.

Nah 6.7 and any modern diesel is better then a 6.0. They may be more to fix but it will be worth it and you won’t be fixing it 24/7 unlike 6.0s

Cant wait for 6.0 content. I have a tuned 7.3 extended cab longbed that I built from watching videos you made. Pretty much did everything you did to your 7.3. I got an offer I couldn't refuse on a stock crewcab longbed low milage 6.0 and its slow as hell stock compared to the tuned 7.3. I know its potential though, so looking forward to building.

You’re supposed to check the transmission fluid with the engine running and on level ground. Blow-by really checks the condition of your piston rings and if they’re passing compression gases. Nice truck overall though. You really need to do what Bill Hewitt called “dealerproofing” the engine. He’d build it to how ford should’ve made it. Unfortunately he passed away a few days ago.

I bought mine new in 2004 so as of this writing, I am about to reach the 20 year mark for owning it. I hear so much about how bad a 6.0 is but the only thing replaced on the engine was the turbo and that was under warranty. The reason for purchase was to tow a heavy travel trailer. I still have and tow the same trailer. So at this point, I definitely got what I wanted out of it.

Hpop isn’t actually that common on these motors. I have replaced a few because of really extended oil changes. What actually does go bad in the high pressure oil system is the high pressure oil plugs replaced hundreds of those. If it don’t start warm but does when it’s cold and oil is thick most likely the plugs pull the icp sensor and put a air fitting add air to the system and listen to where it’s leaking from

I run a half bottle of marvel mystery oil and a can of seafoam in the tank then Remove the fuel filter cover and filter,dump a can of seafoam in the fuel filter housing replace the filter and cap. Warm the truck up then hammer down and the seafoam and marvel mystery oil will lube the injectors and the seafoam will flush out the crap in the system. It will help unstick the injectors. Good find 6.0's are not as bad as they are talked about. Most are drivin harder than they should be. As far as the 1/4 fuel tank issue it's the same as a 7.3 tank issue - the pickup screen is broken off. With most diesel tanks every 1/4 of the tank is 9 gallons. That being said he did say the truck sat off and on so more than likely you have slime/algae in the tank now that you have a full tank you should treat the tank so it cleans the whole tank before you drop it and fix the pickup screen issue
@powerstrokecentral
@powerstrokecentral 9 ай бұрын
what do you reccomend for additive to treat the tank?
@mikeestrella2
@mikeestrella2 9 ай бұрын
@@powerstrokecentral their is many products out one that I use is - power service clear diesel. It removes everything in the tank and puts it in your filter. Recommend replacing fuel filters after treatment. 6.0 has 2 fuel filters. I use clear diesel 2 times a year to keep tank clean and change fuel filters after 2 tanks to make sure filters catch anything that has not been picked up. Side note I own a 2000 F350 7.3 366000 miles

I've watched so much of your content and can't wait for all the upgrades to come on the 6.0. don't forget to check your limited slip clutches in the rear axle when you change the fluid. the first 15 year or so of the life of this truck, it was probably owned by an old man that babied it...I live in a small farm town and lots of old farmers got these new and actually take care of them and have 250,000+ miles on them and have had little to no problems...original head gaskets, head bolts, turbo, etc.. it's not unusual to have to reseal the high pressure oil system every 10-13 years, of course you'll have some minor engine oil leaks with age, don't rule out a new oil cooler/ EGR cooler every 15 years....I would probably replace the fuel injectors and cups every 250,000 miles to be safe on a 6.0, be gently if you unplug the FICM as the plastic wiring clips can snap making the wiring plug-ins loose from then on.... great buy, looking forward to the video series on this awesome 6.0... + it's a Texas salt free truck, that will eliminate all the rust related issues that plague any older vehicle...

2023 people still don't know what bulletproof diesel means, obviously we're all aware 6.0 came out the factory handicap but if you have the money to bulletproof it from jumpstreet problem solved at this point we shouldn't be hearing notions of 6.0 or unreliable or 6.0 or bad, smh if you don't have the money to bullet proof it then stay go get another one
