Hello from Ireland again, Lee. God, I didn't know what to expect for £450, but, I'm very surprised, it's not bad at all, lol. Hopefully, a Coil pack will sort it out. That Dacia was Cheap, Lee, and the perfect color, for some happy customers lol. I love those clocks and gauges, half digital, and half normal, as we Irish would say, lol 😅😅. This Compact looks like its sills and wheel arches are still solid and properly attached (E46s can rust like crazy in those areas). Any tidy E46 can be a good buy at the moment. Find a good one now before prices shoot up like those old boxy E30s did.

I used to have a compact years ago. A 116ti with the SE spec but a manual in silver. Loved it, it was so well equipped, nippy and nimble. It ticked all the boxes for me. Only trouble I had with it was a leaky rear wash/wipe mechanism which I believe were a common problem on them as them as they were a fancy, complicated design the way the nozzle is built into the moving arm.

Lee. Also. Know you’re then man who’ll know !!! Coolant problem intermittent heat in cabin. Overheat and temp guage wavering when cold. When get the heat cabin temp all ok Doesn’t use / lose water. Doesn’t bubble in expansion tank Top hose to radiator not hot enough to touch. Is at engine. Is cool by radiator. My guess is water not circulating. It’s a 500 and had a new thermo housing on it. Am I guessing right. Is it water pump. Sometimes it pumps. As get heating stable temps. Hotter top hose throughout. Then get ice cold heater blower inside. Colder top hose and jumping erratic temp guage. I’m puzzled on it being intermittent.

Air lock in the cooling system somewhere. Sometimes the car heater matrix needs to be vented it could have trapped air. It sounds like you’re chasing the airlock around the system. I’m assuming it pressurises itself when hot ?.

Those civic sports (EP2) are great cars, my brother had one years ago. They do go for a pretty penny nowadays though, as most have been ruined by modifications back in the days and good ones are hard to find. They are desirable cars.

Agree. I had a 2003 (EU8) Civic 1.6 which was the five door version of the Sport. Same engine. Sold it earlier this year after four years ownership as a second runabout. Never missed a beat. Drove great and engine sweet as a nut. Van-like practicality with the back seats dropped. Regret selling it in some ways.

@ yep, they are great, my dad had a 2003 1.6 one when they were near new for many years then sold it to my uncle who still has it to this day, still is running good. I actually also got one of those for sale currently but a 2005 facelift EU8. This was the era Hondas were built properly, 2001-2006 is the Honda golden era imo.

The 1.5 dci engine is a relatively good motor if maintained as with all cars I always change my oil well before the interval in book and have never had any issues with my cars in 25 years of driving. 😊😊

I think you did the right thing to take a quick profit on the Compact. It looked as though there could be some risk with it although the interior and exterior looked good. And anyway, it's all time, isn't it? Make 150 quid in 5 mins and spend your time on other cars.

Still like the E46 multi function wheel. Had a black 58k manual myself for £250 bca. Was pretty much that car. Bar the transmission. Something was wrong. God knows what. Took £680. Was hoping get it gone in the teens. Didn’t happen. Think mine was wheel bearings(2); advisories and inop window and locking problems. Cannot remember. Found a couple of wrapped new johnies , durex, on the land own where stood across a weekend. Car was unlocked. The rear electric window just cracked open. Was convinced had had some local teenagerumpy pumpy in her.

Pc valves on those engines fail , fastest/ cheapest way to fix is to install the VW 1.8T or TT 20v pcv valve and just add it inline with rubber hoses externally as the bmw one should be just be blowing through and it one way anymore
