I remember a video of Bernadette Banner where she found a picture of her very elaborately home made dress (with HER in it) on wish. So she ordered it, and it was basically a kid's drawing in 3D of her dress, just like some of these dresses. I'm 95% sure the manufacturers on wish take pictures off the internet and try "make" whatever is in the picture as quickly and cheaply as possible.

In Denmark, the public healthcare center was out warning people of buying anything from WISH. In the EU we have very strict regulations meaning that certain chemicals are not allowed in toys, plastic items, clothes etc, and when you buy from wish or other sites like it, it cannot be regulated like it would be if you bought it though a online store or physical store within the EU. A lot of people had bought clothes and toys from wish as it was so cheap, but the ministry for healthcare do not recommend buying anything that at any point comes in contact with your body, as we saw an incredible spike in rashes and medical problems caused by wearing clothes that had very bad chemicals in them, or babies needing to see doctors because the toys they chewed on was filled with cheap chemicals. I have bought some small stupid stuff on wish, everything was decoration and its fine, but i don't hear people talk about buying stuff off wish like they did when it became popular the first time around, so it probably died out rather quickly.. Be careful with the clothes you shop, i don't mind cheap if that's what the budget is for, just don't go get a horrible allergic reaction because its from a sketchy cheep site :(

Honestly, I have bought some clothes of of it, and you have to wash it first, just like any other clothing you buy at any other shop.. As for toys, and cosmetics. Yeah I don't go there. Also because the cosmetics never list their ingredients..

@@JankoWalski-hz3lu I think buying stuff from the UK is just like buying it from USA or Canada, taxes can get big when it enters Denmark, but if you are prepared and know the laws it should be fine! I personally think that I can find *most* things within the EU borders, so i tend to not buy anything from UK, USA or the like, but I'm not holding back if its something only they have haha! The government in Denmark have only talked about the taxes that can be put on things, and traveling where you can get taxed too vs before. I don't think UK has more of these chemicals now that they are out, my feeling is that we all both within and outside EU are aware of the very toxic chemicals that some cheap manufacturing firms use! Btw, thank fucking god that Poland has some awesome firms! Bought my hobby paints, and organizers from a polish company, and I'm getting my partner a gamer chair from Secret Lab. Very glad we have these lovely companies within EU :D

Unfortunately it not always enough, the clothing industry is resorting to use harmful plastics and other materials that has been treated in lots of chemicals, just to make even cheaper clothes. I'm glad we have some laws but unfortunately some of it still gets in and sold, with the result of people getting rashes or allergic reactions to it :( Toys and cosmetics are so dangerous to buy from a place where you cant guarantee whats in it, it can be so so harmful its scary! Glad you watch out for yourself :)

I legit love #3 if you had it tailored to fit you, and honestly, the bod is SLAMMIN 💗 Which I think is what a bride on a budget could do… go bigger, tailor to fit, and make a decent dress into a custom dress. That said, I got married in a $19.98 sundress off the clearance rack. (Kicked the ass of my sister whose $25 white lace knee length dress had been the cheapo standard in our family!)

Budget suggestion for flowers: Get fake flowers and do them yourself. In the US, you can get cheap ones at the dollar store or nicer ones at craft shops like Michael's or Joann's. You can redo them over and over until you're happy with them, they're cheaper than real flowers, AND you get to keep your bouquets and centerpieces forever!

Hot tip for anyone looking for a wedding dress on a budget: thrift stores. Especially try ones in or near where the rich people live. I was at one one day that had like 3 wedding dresses and a few prom dresses, all good quality and in great condition. I even tried one on that fit like a glove, looked amazing on me, and was only $50. I had no plans of getting married but it was just fun to do so of course I didn't buy it.

I bought a $300 bridal dress from Torrid because it was pretty and some days I need to dress like a princess to fight depression. The fit is amazing! The fabric is comfortable! I also liked supporting a plus size brand dipping their toe into affordable bridal for plus size brides. It's online only so you can't have that bridal salon experience before you buy it, but that is also pretty triggering for a lot of people, being able to try in a controlled environment can help.

The two other options for spending less on a wedding dress that occurred to me are either looking at resale shops because sometimes there are ones in very good condition there for much less money. Or you don't have to get married in a white dress. I know that that's important to some people, and if it is then great. But also you can get married in any color you want

When I got married I went to a discount boutique. I got the trial dress they use to fit the bride. So it had wear and tear. But it was beautiful. It was $3000 marked down to $600. It cost another $600 to get it cleaned and had to be sent to special cleaners (my mother paid for that). But I loved it! And there was no way I could afford it's original ticket price.

As a bride who bought her dress from Aliexpress, I can only say: research is key. I paid a lot more (around €200), but got a dress that was tailored to my size. Comparing many many photo reviews with advertised pictures from many different sellers gave me the confidence to order the dress with the seller I ended up with. My dress was gorgeous, and the quality was up there with regular dress shops. Oh and fun fact: it was a huge ballgown, but got delivered in a tiny package too. It was rock solid though, because the dress was so compressed 😅

I actually bought my dress on Wish. I think you need to go up a bit in price with Wish. Get the $30/$40+ dress, not the $10/$15 dress. The dress that I bought wasn't exactly the same as the picture, but I got luckily and liked the dress that I received more than the pictured dress.

From personal experience as a seamstress, a single yard of beaded lace runs for at least $150US. All wish does is steal people’s photos of beautiful expensive work & then have a seamstress in a factory make the cheapest facsimile, while still using the stolen photos to advertise.

I appreciate that too, although I still don't understand. If you buy sth for that cheap and expect the materials to be of good quality, what do you think the workers are paid for this? I guess that brown spot could be blood of a distracted very tired worker in their 15th hour of work :( Anyway, I guess that colours may be different bc of lighting (I didn't catch that differences - it all looked like white or off-white) and for some of the dresses they just "forgot" to mention that you should be wearing a petticoat underneath.

Just a heads up for people considering byuing your wedding dress or clothing on that matter is that besides the stolen photos and being a cheap knock offs made from that photo, these clothes are not made from regulated materials and can be harmful, there are numder of chemicals and dyes that are not considered safe to use on contant on skin and these fast fashion cheap knock offs have been noted to include them, and no they cannot be washed out of the clothing since it is in the material itself. I would instead recommend shopping second hand bridal dresses or even reputable normal fashion brands in your area for white dresses that could be used as wedding dress

If you want the Kellgren-Fozard look, I recommend buying a "vintage" dress and Petticoat from Top Vintage. Quite cheep (like 60 euro per dress) and you actually get the dress you ordered. And there are some wedding dresses on there.

I have to say. The reviews on wish have had to be consistently 4 or more stars for me to order before, I have ordered well rated things like a shirt and had decided to get two because of the price. They came in two different fabrics, same color but they looked different but the pattern was the same, one was more stiff and scratchy and one was soft and stretchy, ive also ordered things that didn't come for many months and the replacement item they ship comes faster and is different than the original but both eventually arrived, they don't care about consistency or quality and consider the losses of these things as minimal because they have so so many items and listings of the "same" items. I don't shop on wish anymore at all, the experiments I did were plenty for me to learn my lesson lol.

1st dress - I think you'd have to do so much to it (add an underlayer to the top and an overskirt for starters) to make it nice, that you might as well make one from scratch. 2nd dress - would be ok as a summer dress, but I wouldn't personally choose it for a wedding. 3rd/4th dresses - either of these could be an ok option for the right bride on a budget. I agree with you though that it's such a lottery to find out which ones are ok (and none of them really matched their pictures), so it's not really worth it. Could you do a reverse image search to see if those photos appear on reputable wedding dress sites, i.e. have the images been stolen? Personally, I'm considering altering my mum's wedding dress (with her permission) for my hypothetical future wedding. My boyfriend and I have both said that we would want to keep costs low and that we'd rather spend our money on the deposit for a house first.

We went for a wedding of roughly 2000€. I'd recommend to - go rural (venues etc. can be cheaper) - buy clothing etc. secondhand - get contributions as gifts (This obviously requires the right friends/family. My mom made the cake; she's a professional. We had hobby-photographers be our photographers. So not having to spend money on those two obviously cut down the cost tremendously.) - keep the guest list to the essential people/very most important family and friends - DIY as much as possible (decor for example) - let bridesmaids wear whatever they want / out of their own closet - take jewelry/accessories that you already own (family heirlooms; borrow from family; a nice gift...) The one thing I would not cheap out on (apart from the rings... :D), if you do not have a friend or sister who wants to do it) is a wedding planner/day of coordinator! It takes so much stress off your shoulders as brides and grooms (and whatever the NB equivalent is) to have somebody who is in the know and in charge and whom people can go to about anything, so that you, the couple can enjoy the day!

I was honestly pleasantly surprised that 2 of the dresses looked wearable, and one of them was even basically as advertised! I get being disappointed with the color, but that's something I could see not even being on wish but just different lighting and color calibration issues. In high school I ordered a dress online from a shady website that a friend recommended (this was before wish was commonly known/used), not knowing that it was basically all bootleg ripoffs of real designs. I got a horrible, unwearable, itchy, wrong-color dress in a vaguely similar shape to the photos. Decided then and there that I would never order any clothes online unless I was familiar with the company running the website and knew they were selling their own designs.

Though some of the dresses looked okay, I would never buy a wedding dress from Wish. In my opinion, the absolute best way for spending very little money on a dress is buying a preloved one from private (often even new ones because the bride decided to buy a different dress!). You can take it home immediately, it's MUCH better quality than a cheap new dress and it's best for our planet. Of course, a lot of people try to sell their preloved dresses for way too much money, but with a bit of luck, you can make a real bargain. For example, on a German platform I saw a silk dress for 45 € - new price around 700 €. Sadly, 2 sizes too small for me or it would have been my dress :D I saw lots of other wedding dresses for about 100 € or less. Less than 20 € might be a bit tricky but possible if you don't want a ballgown (and at least, a simpler preloved dress for the same money would most likely look much better that a cheap fancier one).

I knew this young woman from Etsy. She makes these awesome long sweaters with big cowled necks and big hoods and long awesome sleeves. Almost like a short dress. Wish actually stole her pictures from Etsy and uses them for a cheap and crapp version. She can't do anything about it. We both tried too. It's sad. Wish is so cheap and really not worth it. The second dress reminds me of my first sewing project which required a dress pattern. Not great but not a complete fail. Still doesn't make it any good.
