Just picked up a Blazer EV yesterday. I had a gas 2023 Blazer and the difference is phenomenal, much quieter and solid feeling. We don't drive much so charging isn't an issue for me. Lots of tech. I'm 78 and love it. Leased for 24mos.

I've driven the Blazer EV AWD. It has a MUCH better ride qualify then the Model Y. Great over bumps which was the biggest issue I have w/ the Model Y.

I just purchased a Model Y two months ago and I have been nothing but impressed with it. I was really leaning toward the Honda Prologue, as I have driven a Honda for the last thirty years ( there was a Nissan 300z in there for a couple of years ). I did drive a decent number of Ford/GM vehicles during the time I worked as a courier. When I read that Honda had partnered with GM in the Prologue, I quickly went back to Tesla. I am deep in the heart of Texas and they are the dominate EV manufacturer. The software and software interface in the GM models is vastly inferior to Tesla. As far as bumps, I haven't noticed an issue. The car, so far, has been the most comfortable driving experience. I love the one pedal driving, the on screen display gives me a good picture of what is around me. Maybe I haven't notice the bumps because I have had the car drive me from place to place. The Full Self Driving, Actual Smart Summon, and Self Park seem to be features that no other maker offers. I love that we are at a point where there is a discussion about EVs but I hope that GM,Ford, KIA, Honda and Mercedes up there game, especially in the software department. Competition is good for us in the market place, but we shouldn't accept subpar standards just to support competition.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. I have a BMW iX and got my 83 year old mom and Blazer EV. I have to say, while the Blazer is far from a BMW iX, it is a GREAT car. I had to get used to several quirks, but after I did and realigned my expectations, I actually love driving it. It is such a solid EV. I’d say the Blazer is 80% of my iX at half the price. Not sure why you didn’t have internet. GM was giving 3 years on all new EV’s when my mom got hers. Last, your video did make me smile from time to time. You’re VERY much a Tesla guy, it shows. The GM Chevy Blazer is full on GM. Good or bad, it’s full GM. (NOT a Tesla, nor a BMW. So my complaints are similar to yours: I’m a BMW guy)

Hey Branden..I have an Equinox EV and LOVE it so far. For comparison, the Equinox EV efficiency sits around 3-3.2 mi/Kwh for the AWD version. It also feels a bit quicker, nimble compared to the Blazer EV. The back seat of the Blazer is bigger than the Equinox, but for most other specs you'd be hard pressed to notice a difference size wise. The Equinox come in about $5-7k cheaper than a comparable Blazer.

Fun fact the Chinese RWD Lyriq has a frunk. GM just chose to not have one in the states because they didn’t see the demand and saves a few $$. Also GM seems to like to spread out their components under the hood not too compact for maintenance purposes. Least that’s how it feels.
@simplygregsterevАй бұрын
My wife is on the frunks are awesome, I'm very indifferent regarding them. Not a deal breaker but it only works if you can open the frunk like a regular door. Not having to grab the hood latch

So here in Chevy Blazer (as well as Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX) you sign into Google and all your preferences as well as apps can be downloaded more or less in minutes. Once you’ve set a google Automotive profile up those same apps can be all downloaded the next time you jump in a brand new instance of these cars which is something I happen to do a lot of. Long way to say that it becomes a CP/AA experience to the extent that all your apps, services and accounts are synced up. And the upside is that the mapping and EV related apps (think ABRP, PlugShare, EA, ChargePoint apps) can have integration with the BMS SOC and mi/kWh live data. In Honda and Acura for instance when using Google maps the car will automatically enable battery preconditioning well ahead of your planned DCFC stops, and those stops will show arrival SOC and charging time predictions as well as recommended charge to X % SOC to continue your journey.
@simplygregsterevАй бұрын
The charge door is just a facepalm. I love it how it would shimmy down. Must be interesting in the winter... Everything is pretty much on point, I would suggest people get an Equinox instead. The Blazer feels like driving a steamroller Very imposing and wide.

Can you please give advise: I am interested to purchase a model Y. How do I check which battery the car will come with? I heard things in the past about Phillips battery being better? Which is your recommendation?
@brandenflaschАй бұрын
If you get a new tax credit eligible one, it should be Panasonic
@junehanzawa5165Ай бұрын
A Phillips battery? Who in the world is giving you advice on EV's?
@nibotkram7743Ай бұрын
Get a AWD long range Y. It’s eligible for the full 7.5 k. Cheap, super reliable and very efficient.
@georgepelton5645Ай бұрын
@@nibotkram7743 Be sure you get one that is eligible, some are and others are not. Only ones with Panasonic cells are, but Tesla is now using LG Chem cells in some AWD long range Model Y. That is my understanding anyway. Also consider the RWD long range Model Y. More range than AWD, and costs less. For a lot of buyers, AWD is really not necessary.

Another channel I follow did a back to back Equinox and Blazer test drive and said they could hardly tell the difference between the two inside including the space available. Looking at the Blazer you expect it to be bigger and more usable, but it appears it isn't. I just heard a guy with a Silverado EV saying that they put the navigation behind the pay wall of Onstar! I would like to know if that is true or not. If it is that is a huge problem.

2.8 mi/kWh!!! That’s 357 w/mi in Tesla-speak. I DD a ‘23 Bolt EUV. In moderate weather I see 3.8 - 3.9 mi/kWh. I think there is a point where an EV is too heavy. Everyone wants range, but unless you have Lucid’s efficiency tech level, your EV can reach a point where bigger batteries are pointless. That’s 238 miles range realized with a 85 kWh battery, and 286 with the 102 kWh battery. Dang GM.. that’s some aerodynamics of a brick wall Ford Lightning efficiency there. Mercedes and BMW both exceed their range estimates at 70 mph with the cruise on as tested by CR. Maybe it’s good you don’t charge as much? My EUV has an air catcher in the rear because there’s nothing blocking air flow around the torsion bar between the battery and the bumper, but still is efficient. I bet GM screwed up the Blazer like that. Underbody plastic is cheap GM- not meeting or exceeding your range estimates can be expensive! Bad GM bad bad BAD!

My parents would be more comfortable in this over my Tesla.. - Though my dad has driven my Tesla a few times and likes it, but the learning curve is there. This is simply same old same old and he would be comfortable behind this. Me on the other hand this leaves me feeling mid in a lot categories and not sure I would ever think about buying this. I've defiantly seen a few around Portland and Vancouver area and one person asking me about my Model Y and sitting in it. Don't know /shrug

Leave it to General Motors to put the entire info entertainment center behind a pay wall. Now I see why they removed CarPlay. The Tesla has a data subscription, but navigation is still functional and everything works except streaming. I like how he said it’s bigger, but it doesn’t hold as much. Yeah, it’s a huge inefficient vehicle that doesn’t have much room on the inside. This being said if you like the style sure go for it but let’s not pretend it’s in the same league as the Model Y.
@kens97sto171Ай бұрын
Actually it DOES hold more. The interior space for PEOPLE is more than a Model Y. But less storage. Better head room in the rear and its wider in rear seat. Personally for the money I would get a Model Y. Even though I dislike Teslas minimalist / Cheap interior design and stupid door handle design. I also prefer a gauge cluster in front of me.. GM does a good job with giving useful info in the cluster... instant KW use, and range info.

I have a Blazer EV. I did a back-to-back test with a family-member’s Model Y and a large, rear facing toddler car seat. The back seat of the blazer is significantly larger. Both in length and width. Not even close. You can download base maps on the Google system. This is 100% a rental company issue, not GM. Retail customers get 8 years of data included. Avis begged them to shut that off to save a buck.

What on earth are they hiding under all that plastic under the hood? A radiator, plus an alternator, what? It takes a lot of work fill up and waste all that space on an EV.
