Las Vegas's Grand Prix brought tons of drama, hype, controversy, and eventually, a pretty solid race. But how many people get to find out what it's like to drive the track itself? Not many, as it turns out.
I was one of only three non-professionals invited by Aston Martin to try out Las Vegas' Grand Prix Street Circuit after qualifying on Saturday at 1:15 AM. Saddled with a DBX 707, one of the most potent Sport Utility Vehicles on sale, I was given three laps to go as quick as I safely could on the 3.75 Mile circult. It was one of the most exciting on-track moments I've had in a long time.

@@redlion145 They do this before every race of the Australian Supercars. You can watch it here on youtube if you get a "membership" for $5 a month. Each race weekend they stream is usually 3-4 days of 8-12 hours each day containing numerous racing series.

Dope driving Matt! This track, in this SUV LOOKS intimidating as hell. Don't think many non-professional race drivers could have done better than you with the limited time you had. A mistake here would be a BIG deal. And all while communicating to the camera, I think you did a kickass job. Super fun to ride along with you on this one!

Throughout the F1 broadcast they kept talking about how the track was slippery because it is new and had no support races. If they aren't going to run F2 as support Aston should bring 10 DBXs and do rides the whole weekend when the F1 cars aren't out there. Fans would eat that up.

They do "Pirelli Hot Laps", what Matt did with the pro driver in the beginning. Each manufacturer has 2 cars for the very fortunate to get a few laps as a passenger.

Certainly seems like a great vehicle but that price just seems absurd to me. 200+ is one thing but 300+ is just nuts. I suppose if you’re rich enough to afford it it’s somewhat irrelevant other than the massive depreciation. I’d guess most get leased to not worry about it.

It is overpriced and they're having to discount significantly to sell. The "rich people don't care about price" is a false notion. Most are intentional with their money and cross-shop cars, hence why Aston is discounting them. Otherwise, why not just make it $500K? Unfortunately, Aston is teetering on the edge of bankruptcy and may not make it much longer.
