I can't believe how much vintage ball cards have devalued...I was an avid collector as a 90's kid and recognized so many of these cards. The intrinsic and nostalgic value are off the charts for me though
@EcnalKcin2 жыл бұрын
Those years were never worth anything. Keep in mind, "vintage" cards in the 90's would have been 50's and 60's cards and they are still going up in value. I had price guide back then, and had star player rookie cards from the late 80's- early 90's that were "worth" less than $5 mint.

Hey Charlie, I do ebay for a living. Any sold item that has only 1 bid and is a high amount is not a real sale. It's people trying to fake inflate the market. The same thing happens when you look up disney black diamonds, there are a bunch of comps for $4,000 + but in reality you can't get more than 10$ for one lol.
@beckjanssens65042 жыл бұрын
It's also a way for a seller to keep their item if they don't have a reserve. Basically if they think buyers are going to cheap out on bidding they'll have their friend bid high so they either get a competitor and win some money, or just cancel the order and keep the item. But yeah at the end of the day not a real sale

The card Charlie mentions at 21:10 actually has a crazy backstory kzbin.info/www/bejne/naK2pJ1mjLmnnNE The Menendez brothers (pictured in the back of the Mark Jackson card) murdered their parents and tried to cover it up. They initially weren't suspects in the murder and received their parents life-insurance money & assets after they passed away. One of the first things they used this money on was to buy court-side seats to a knicks game. And just out of pure coincidence, the game they decided to go to (on the dime of their parents via their life insurance money), was the game that would be used for Mark Jacksons NBA rookie card.
