it's called a vacation - when you're a contractor you have to set those yourself, you don't have to justify it, just part of adjusting from being on a salary job to contract/casual work

Congrats on getting a raise. I am sorry you have had such a difficult to time with being a landlord. The property management company practically forced you to rent to this person. I don't understand why they are not responsoble for some of the damages. Lesson learned! You will get through it and move on.
