I was never able to make Reddit work. As soon as you disagree with someone, they report you to the mods for attacks. Eventually, you just end up getting permabanned from the sub for too many attacks. It happened on the main 6 subs I visit and I think I only ever actually directly insulted someone once. I've never had a conversation over politics, but there was a discussion on my sub about transgender issues and pretty much every single account that said anything critical about transgender people was permabanned. I don't really see the point of Reddit if you can get banned that easy, it's the opposite of free speech.

Same here. I'm gay and I have issues with kids being too young to make certain decisions. I also think its completely unfair for a trans who still has a penis to get on a womans team and then start breaking new records because of the male body/hormone advantage. Some of the drag queens who do the kids stuff can get a little carried away and since they don't have kids they don't have the perspective that a parent may have about something that's too inappropriate. Drag Queens can be airheads too and clueless about what's appropriate. Some of them are very dumb just like any other person can be. The reason I'm checking this video out is because I got permanently banned from Reddit. WTF?!? I don't know why, but some of the moderators don't want anyone disagreeing with them. Friend, I can talk to conservatives, hence the reason I joined more conservative subreddits. You see, the liberals- those delightful denizens of the downtown college scene, who seem to be perpetually busy stirring the pot of outrage like it's their favorite hobby. Honestly, it's as if they've taken an oath to comb through the minutiae of human interaction, hunting for each and every imagined slight. I can't even engage in a civil conversation without tiptoeing around their ever-changing pronouns like I'm playing a real-life game of linguistic Twister. One wrong move, and I might just find myself branded as the villain of their latest social justice saga. I find myself nostalgically reminiscing about the pre-2010s LGBT scene, when it was a tad more tolerable to exist in the same space as my fellow queers. Back then, being bisexual felt like a straightforward acknowledgment of the binary-two options, easy peasy. Now? It seems like the trans community has decided to throw a wrench into the works, and suddenly I’m left trying to navigate a labyrinth of identities that shift faster than I can say “gender fluid.” Seriously, can’t a woman just be a lesbian in a plaid shirt and a butch haircut without me having to call her "him"? If I forget to keep up with the latest pronoun trend, I’m the bad guy before I even finish my coffee. In less than two presidential terms, we've managed to turn the English language upside down and inside out, and frankly, I’m dizzy from the spin. With all this chaos swirling around, I can hardly wait to close on my house 40 mins outside the city and make my grand escape from this loony bin of liberal ideologies. You best believe I’m going to plant a Trump sign in my yard just for the sheer joy of watching their heads explode. Talk about a conversation starter! These days, liberals seem far too preoccupied with identity politics, obsessively dissecting every facet of existence like it’s a lab rat in some social experiment gone wrong. And while I concede that it’s a bit unfair of me to disengage from healthy debate, I’ve been blocked from every subreddit imaginable and ghosted by former friends simply for daring to have a difference of opinion. So, what’s a person to do? I’m opting for the path of least resistance and planning to spend my remaining years in the company of like minded folks, because if I wanted to navigate a minefield of political correctness, I’d have joined a circus.

... wouldn't it be so much easier if someone would suggest lgbt groups that do community outreach projects that aren't drag themed...are there any groups doing that...wouldn't it be easier to talk about them than attempt to not sound like a homophobe. idk...maybe I've become cynical, but, to me, the word 'respect' has lost all implied respect the word entails. respect has become like 'tolerance'...a euphemism that awkwardly tries to mislead people about ones actual feelings. we all know what straight people mean when they say they 'tolerate' gay people...now the new phrase is 'i respect [fill in thing you don't respect]', because the final effect is 'dont ask, dont tell'

If you think about, literally all high school theatre is drag. Makeup is exaggerated, costumes are worn by the opposite sex, and personalities are heightened for dramatic effect. It's an artforn. It's a business. It's entertainment. It's been going on for years. It comes from a history of resistance to both mainstream norms and conventional lifestyles. I think more drag queens should visit classes, like theatre and choir, just to enhance the artform itself. I find it ironic how children in school are exposed to films and books with really mature content, but this sort of thing is brainwashing them? Parents enter their girls in pageants where they walk around with tons of makeup on and dresses that are way too short, but drag is the problem? Boys are indoctrinated into sports and taught to be stoic when it comes to showing their emotions, and drag is going to make them gay and emotionally unstable? I am so tired of parents and conservatives thinking that drag queens are pedophiles and grooming children. It's been proven untrue so many times, but anti-LGBT protestors won't let it rest. They have drag story hours FOR kids out there. They have drag events FOR kids. And THEY SHOULD. What I wouldn't give to have a drag queen read in my class growing up when I was a kid.

@oceanwonders Жыл бұрын
I don't know what makes people think that drag queens are doing at elementary schools what they would do at a gay club. Different audience, different performance. Asking "why do drag queens have to go to schools" is like asking "why do dancers / singers / mimes have to perform at schools". It's just an art form. My question is, why not? The only answer I can imagine is "because drag queens make me uncomfortable". None of this is directed at you, Matt. Just the people who think that way.
@ollylevesque3404 Жыл бұрын
Maybe it’s all the videos of them doing what they do at a gay club… or the family brunches. Showing cheeks and chests and all. It’s foul and isn’t important. Are they educating kids that gay men dress like that and act stereotypical? Cuz I don’t want it. And idk any mimes, nor even clowns performing in schools. Kids don’t like that either.

I'm not on Reddit, so I really don't know what's the system and mentality there. But... I guess you made a mistake in making an opinion on a issue that you don't have a personal experience of. Everyone does that. You haven't been to the drag queen story hour or whatever this now is. And I have not been there either. I try not to throw my opinions about something that I'm not familiar with - but I many times end up doing that. I can only guess what goes on there and my guess is, that what the kids get from those situations, is the understanding that you can show masculinity/feminity regardless of your gender and it is ok. And selfexpression and stuff like that. Maybe couple of giggles. I would have loved having drag queens at my school, but that was in the 80's so not really. Even sex education was purely for straight folks and gays'n sutch were not mentioned. You would think that after Aids chrisis there would be a good reason to talk about safe anal sex - but no. Sorry for my rambling. Matt, you are great and maybe you'll be better without Reddit where you can't wait to be understud.

Not only is there videos of them exposing themselves at these “family friendly” ones, the Houston public library one is on that registry and convicted. Protecting kids is what we’re doing. You have no right to do drag in schools because you can’t get bookings.

A cooking video would have been real nice! My belief on the drag-queen conversation is the same as yours, as of now i think theres too much of a connection of sexualization with drag-queens. Sure at some point in life this will diminish, but as of right now its too similar.

I can only say that it'd be beneficial to follow or interact more with the people taking part in drag events. Even if you're also interacting with them as well on social media to have a better understanding. The outside perspective without anyone there to give proper insight does skew things. Like, with the dragshows, they do have events separate from how the media wrongfully portrays them for family-friendly nights. It's not all near bare ass naked or provocative performances 24/7. Just about 9-8 years ago, I had no knowledge of drag. I didn't hate it or view it as anything wrong. There just wasn't a thought in my mind about it. But, when I started following people through Instagram and Facebook who are familiar with and actively take part in drag, I was able to understand what it's about and what goes on. So, basically, drag queens and people organizing drag events whenever and wherever have enough decency to actually do things that's appropriate for kids to be around. Your experience with just the provocative shows is fine, but to think that they would actually do that stuff around kids is what I would actually believe to be insulting. I don't want to drag you or anything, but interacting with people even if it's online does help to better understand this beyond your at face value experience.

I've soured on social media as well; for me, it got worse before the 2016 election. The toxicity was always there, even during the President Obama years, but I noticed that it became much worse when Donald Trump decided to run. I can't say with 100% certainty that it's gotten worse, because I don't spend my time looking for it. At the very least, I can say that my tolerance for it has decreased as I've gotten older. As far as drag queens...idk. I see your side of the argument and I do agree with it - on its own, it's not necessarily a bad idea. But kids should NOT be at the more mature shows. But it's not something I will personally ever have any interest in, so I'm not entirely inclined to look at it in more detail.
