Ichigo Bankai And you know this HOW? Preferences are inborn. For example - I loathe eggs, while some ppl LOVE them. (Even as a baby, I spit them out in disgust). We ALL have preferences. I was born left handed - there was a time when that was seen as evil... In fact, the Latin word for left is where the term sinister comes from. (It's no accident that right means what it does - as in right and wrong). In my grandfather's day, children were punished until they learned to write with the right hand. These are cultural conventions... As we evolve as human beings, and are able to move beyond bigotry and racism, we will be able to work on the real issues that threaten our existence: poverty, violence, war, disease.

lov u You can choose to be with whoever you want to be with, that much is a choice. You can NEVER change who you are inside and what you feel. That can never change. Being gay is not a choice but being ignorant of that fact is.

You're right, in what a pityful society we live where since 11 years not much effort was undertaken to improve understanding of causes for sexual orientation was made, not to mention ways to accept, help and support people who are unhappy with their own sexual orientation. There are hundred thousands, I'd dare to say as much as: Almost anybody out there... who would be interested being released from being defined regarding attraction by biological predispositions and would love the idea to chose for themselves whom they love and why they love some one. But rather our society dares to tell other people by which fashion they should be happy (even if this brutally collides with the individuals perspective).

I'm gay and i completely understand where this guy is coming from. It's like all of those teen insecurities that I had when closeted but magnified and never properly understood and dealt with. The worst concern about coming out is not about how someone might react to you there and then because knowing what the right thing to say to a gay person in that moment is easy (unless they're just beyond ignorant). Its about the day, the week, the month after when that person starts to unknowingly view you in a different way... even your closest friends. Such as thinking you're not as masculine or you're not as strong and 'alpha' and begins thinking 'maybe i wont invite him to that football game next weekend because its not his thing anymore' or even your boss thinking 'maybe he's not the right guy to take on this role as the competition might think he's weak'. We grow up as guys, we live the life of guys, we hang out and often have best mates who are guys.... because... well, we're guys too. It's often just the simple difference between knowing that someone is gay and being ok with it and understanding what that actually means. And I don't blame people who don't understand... they need time understanding it just like we did growing up. This guy just needs to know that in the mean time, people's false interpretations of gay guys aren't true... even if others, including your best friends, don't. Set an example.... show them they're wrong... don't be weak and let false perspectives define what you do... and definitely don't hate yourself because of them either. And then when you start to be confident in who you are and begin to love that person to, you begin to love others.... and hopefully just might start to love the male genitalia and bit more too ha.

Really? He's asexual. -_- Plus, a lot of homosexual people ARE in love with each other. Why else would they be striving towards marriage equality? I'm bisexual. I have felt EMOTIONAL feelings for both men and women. It isn't all about sex. I am against purely sexual relationships no matter what gender is involved.
@Musickt19610 жыл бұрын
Okay, I know that people are going to yell at me, but I have the "if you don't want to be gay, don't be" opinion. Now I'm not gay, so I understand why some may argue "it's not that easy" for gays. But I mean, honestly. No one said you HAD to be gay. Just because you have attractions to the same sex doesn't mean you have to date that sex. I'm in NO WAY encouraging that all gays should suppress their sexualities and I have no problem with homosexuality, but if someone really doesn't want to be gay they shouldn't have to be. And it's not "impossible" to change one's sexuality; it actually has happened before. A lot of people don't like labels but if you say that sexuality is biological that absolutely cannot be changed, you're already labeling people. And I understand why people may want to suppress homosexuality because of their fear that others won't accept them. But I'm not trying to talk about that-I'm talking about identity in general. If you really, truly don't want to be gay, I think you shouldn't have to be. No one and nothing can force you to be something you don't want to be.

Traci Rowland I don't mean like biologically. I understand that people can't choose their feelings. But they DO choose to live as a self-identified gay or straight. Now I'm absolutely not saying that this is what all gays should do, but by saying "I didn't choose to be gay, I'd do ANYTHING not to be gay," they're actually making the gay community look bad and like they hate their lives, when a lot of gays are actually really happy with their lives. I know that there may be people who feel this way because their families and friends don't accept them but I'm not talking about that because that's a legitimate problem. I just hate the mentality of "you get what you get and you're stuck for life" because that's making being gay look like a mental prison. There's actually a video on KZbin of someone ranting about this. And it was filmed and uploaded by a very liberal, non-religious lesbian.
@XXLKnowitallXXX10 жыл бұрын
I didnt read anybody else down below so i could be redundant. But the fact is man your brain is wired a certain way so that you fit like a puzzle piece to what you find attractive. My point is, that person will never find genuine, authentic happiness until they submit to who they really are. (For the most part in the aspect of Love) PS: If that doesnt convince you there have been several studies that support the synopsis that Homosexual men and straight women have a similar brain structure. Straight women and gay men also have a similar brain structure. Basically, individuals attracted to women most of the time have a strong connection to their motor function (Sports, trade, crafting) and individuals attracted to men most of the time have a stronger connection to their emotional intelligence and/or function. (Mentoring, Conversing with others, socializing, etc.) Coincidence? I personally dont think so.. And these structures are put into place in effort to attract what you find attractive.
@Musickt19610 жыл бұрын
I get what you all are saying, and I definitely think gays will be happier if they accept who they are. I also think it's very wrong to judge people for their sexuality. My point was, however, that I believe everyone should have a say over who they want to be. If a gay person says "I didn't choose to be gay! Who would choose to be gay?" this automatically makes being gay look awful, which is the opposite of what gays want. The same thing goes if a straight person says the same thing in defense of the gay community-they automatically imply that being straight is better, even if they didn't mean to make it sound that way. And like I said-I just hate the mentality of sexuality not being a choice and whatever you get you're stuck with because it just makes homosexuals look like they are only reluctantly living this way because they HAVE to, while in reality many of them will say what while they didn't choose their feelings, they DID choose their way of living, (of being openly gay and pursuing the same sex) and aside from dealing with judgmental people and battling for their rights, they're very happy with their decision. To me, the "being gay isn't a choice, nobody would choose to be gay" message backfires because to me that translates to "I got stuck with this sexuality and I hate my life" which I'm sure is very misleading.

He's gonna be straight when he turns thirty? That's ridiculous. He can try but won't succeed. It's not a choice. I wanted to be straight when I was 19, cause I though it would make my life easier. So I chose not to have sex. But then I turned 30 and realized I need a human touch and decided to have sex like all normal people. Sex with people that attract me, which means men. Being gay is not a choice. People need to realize that. The only choice you have is whether you're going to live according to your nature and be happy, or suppress your natural urges and be miserable.

I kinda can relate to his feelings towards both the male and the female genitalia to a certain degree. But he shouldn't say he hates being gay, since, in his own words, a lot of the dislike is actually based on stereotypes. I don't think he's gay either. In my opinion, he is probably mainly asexual, with a possible emotional attachability to both genders, maybe a bit more towards male persona. And who knows, he's still quite young, and might still need some time to figure things out for himself. But whatever that identity is, he should just learn to get along with and be comfortable with it. Or, he might not need any kind of sexual identity at all, and that's fine too!

Words have many meanings. Language is messy, it changes all the time. Gay and straight may very well be outdated within 50 years (at least when describing someone's sexual orientation). From my limited perspective, I feel American culture places too much importance on labeling and keeping every person confined to nice, simple stereotypes. I am a man who is attracted to other men. I don't want to be labeled as "gay," it's just part of who I am. And not even the most important part. When describing myself, I don't think it would even make the top 10.

Poor guy, God can heal anyone's sexuality... It is possible that he could become completely straight... But thats only Gods help, his desires for men can be got rid of. There is hope for anyone like him.... And I feel sorry for him or anyone who desires to be straight.

You can never change who you are. People should just be happy with who they are.
@originalThePlague2 жыл бұрын
This nonsense is exactly what is wrong within our society. 1st) Who says that we can NEVER change it? 2nd) Why does follow from that that one HAS TO BE happy the way he is? Even if it was true, which we can not say with certainty since till now our research just is by far not extended near enough to make such a statement, it does not follow that one has to be happy with something that does totally not fit within his own concept of life.

i think that sexuality is made up of a lot of different spectrums, for instance someone can be physically attracted to men while being emotionally attracted to women. and any other combination can apply here. not everyone can be stricly labeled as 100% straight or 100% gay. it's a flexibel thing :)
@healinglivercirrhosis69698 жыл бұрын
As a woman, I want to encourage these guys to be comfortable with being gay. I could never feel comfortable going out with a man who was sexually attracted to men, even if it was a long time ago. Because as a woman who is attracted to men, you KNOW how powerful it feels to feel attraction for a man... so trying to deny it would seem like a mute point, and I would NEVER believe someone could truly pull that off. I would constantly worry he was cheating on me. I would much rather encourage him to be comfortable with himself and embrace his sexuality that he was born with. It takes so much energy to go against the way you truly are. Life is way too short to not get to be who you were born to be.

This is the effect of stereotypes. You get confused and mixed up with "who you are", "who you want to be", and "who everyone wants you to be". It's still your choice.
