The world is gravitating to more simplistic logos, but dont make it so simple that you remove the uniqueness from it

Not a graphic designer, but I took a class on graphic design and read some articles from a professional called Logos by Nick. The fact that the logos need to work in black and white as well as in color means that certain character elements like gradients just straight up wouldn't work. This means that ultimately the shape is the most important part. And so the people in charge probably place way more emphasis on recognizability than character because ultimately it doesn't matter if the logo lacks character, it still does its job. Even if you think it looks more bland, you still recognize it. If anything, videos like this are just free advertising for logos and companies that you were never going to think about beforehand. No such thing as bad publicity as long as it doesn't make them lose money. Making your logo black and white is the logo design equivalent of flipping the canvas for artists. Those logos he showed at the end that he actually likes, like the In-N-Out in Home Depot logos, are all pretty flat and minimalistic, but they're also recognizable into eye-catching, even a black and white (you can actually test this by switching your phone to monochromatic mode.)

@@ThunderTheBlackShadowKitty You missed the point of the comment. It's not about what the designer was actually thinking when creating the graphic, it's for PR, making the reasoning behind the design change sound more sophisticated so they aren't slammed for just saying "It looked good, so I changed it".
@ThunderTheBlackShadowKitty2 жыл бұрын
@@nanamoke1357 I didn't miss that, and it flat out doesn't make sense either. In that scenario, the ideal choice is for the graphic designer to threaten their teacher/boss and insist the design they made is good and that it doesn't require a specific reason to exist nor be used. The graphic designer should force their design to be accepted if it means having an objectively better design that is more aesthetically pleasing. Reasoning be damned.

Not exactly. Mozilla uses a different logo, but you are right that the browser still uses the fox logo. The simplified one is for the overall Firefox brand, which includes more than just the browser. (Sorry for the classical music nerd comment in advance) To me Winter always embodied the feeling of revalry, rather than decent. Like finally allowing yourself to experience joy and to celebrate after having reached the end of long laid and risky plans. I imagine the Count of Monte Cristo the moment the dominos of his revenge plot begin to tumble into place. It has an almost villainous triumphance that I suppose could reflect a decent into madness, but to me it sounds too aragant to be madness. Definitely in my top 5 favourite pieces.
