Chelsea, when you broke down after speaking to your landlord, I felt that so much. I've personally had moments like that and those moments are so overwhelming. You help others out more than you know including me! You're so real and I know I can speak for many when I say we appreciate it! If you have any questions about your new apartment search please do not hesitate to reach out! I am a real estate salesperson in NY who is more than happy to answer any questions you might have!

You rock! Amidst a sea of mommy-vloggers, we absolutely need more vlogs like yours, Chelsea! Not that there is anything wrong with the "mommy" or family vlogs, but I think it's so incredibly important for people (women in particular) to see your vlogs which represent an equally fulfilling path, despite societal expectations and beliefs. Any of us can be a one-woman power house with a place of our own, chasing career goals and being the masters of our own destinies, and that is a beautiful thing. I have been incredibly inspired by your journey, especially since it closely resembles my own. I'm a single, child-free woman by choice, and I also made some huge career and life changes/moves at the onset of the pandemic that led to my dream job and so much more. Lastly, I know how hard it is to leave a place you called "home" for any period of time, and how it's even more difficult when you associate that place with so many positive things. When you processed your conversation with your landlord, my heart went out to you, and at the same time, I am also so happy and excited for you because it's another new beginning on the horizon! While the logistics of moving may never be fun, I hope the process of exploring new areas while hunting for your next place is a fun and uplifting one! You've got this! 🤘

Agreed! So many people who create content, who are my age, are mommy/family vloggers, which isn't relatable to me. Again, they're relatable to someone but seeing content like Chelsea's is so inspiring and refreshing. This is the type of content that I want to make.

Dear Chelsea 14:21 local time, i just discovered your channel, because, as a SATC-Fan, i wanted to know, if or how "normal" people can afford living in a city like New York. Next step: me clicking the subscribe-button...😍👍🏻😎. The thing with the "thank you for shopping" - tank top was just hilarious, you've got a great sense of humor😅🎉. I wish you all the best and hope, you can find a new affordable home! I'm looking forward to new videos and am going to recommend your channel to a very dear friend of mine. I'm 48, she's 33, so, different ages are represented here, hehehe...😎. Greetings from Berne, Switzerland, with love❤

That' s a great thing you have now of being able to cry spontaneously after a big change. It's how everyone works - change is what causes emotion, and subsequently, a grief-like response (with crying) helps resolve us to the change. If a change is overwhelming and traumatic, especially when we are young, the grief and tears may stay with us for a long time unexpressed. If you resolve the trauma later in life (and cry all the tears inside) eventually you will have a sort of revelation of why it all disturbed you so much. You then become unexpectedly happy in a way that will amaze but please you. Good luck !! ❤

Oh Chelsea, I super relate to this! Bless you. I left my last flat in Brighton (a city here in the UK) when I was probably a similar age to you - back in 2011. I was moving back to Hampshire/Countryside (to a little thatched cottage from the 1600s! So a total different vibe entirely) I felt excited, happy, sad and very emotional all round! Before I left the place, I touched every single wall and went around thanking the place for giving me stability in low times, happiness in high times and just being there for me. Sounds crazy but I felt the place had a soul and had looked after me. I loved the fact you care about the ladybug. Insects are in huge decline. Thank you. PS An absolutely superb audio book to learn french is anything by Michel Thomas. I have his French Foundation Course on Ibooks.

I recently left an affordable space in my city as well, like unheard of cost! The space was ultimately not a fit for my next chapter and I couldn’t deny it any longer. Took forever to to make the decision and I was so nervous I wouldn’t find an affordable spot. Luckily landed on my feet and found something reasonable with an awesome community built in. Hard to jump off the cliff but have to remind myself it will always be worth it and I’ll find my way

I live in NYC (I move out in 2020) after 13 years living there. For me living situation was extreme important where I feel safe and also close to train station, but also can’t pay much I come from a low income single mom can’t ask for help 💰. I end up living with a roomate and honestly it was perfect. We became siblings live together for 9 years and I think in NYC with the rent prices a roomate can make a big difference. All that extra money I save we used it to travel around the world and buy a house in a cheaper state or country. I’ll totally advice anyone who’s struggling in nyc with rent prices to get a roomate.

Good way to honor Harlem without coming across as tone deaf. I recently finished How to Win Friends, and it was such a life changing book, completely changing how i deal with both people & criticism. Also the firsthand accounts of 1930s America was cool. Hearing about FDR while he was alive and well was a joy. Great video

Watching your videos for a while now and even so I am in a small town in upper Bavaria/Germany and you are in New York, your content is so relatable. I know what you mean when you say moving out is hard and easy at the same time, as it is the safe option for comfort, but not the safe option for a fulfilled live. Please know that I am super proud of you for taking on the challenge and make yourself vulnerable. You cannot fail on the long run, even if one of the decisions is not directly bringing you to your goal - Old people mostly regret what they didn't do, not the things they tried and didn't succeed.

I so related to this particular vlog from beginning to end (even the crying; did that last week as well) I am also in a rent-stabilized apartment in the Bronx. It is a huge 1 bedroom but the landlord is one of the biggest slumlords in NYC and does horrible jobs at repairing anything. I have been here since 2016 and I too need a change. I may sublease but all I want to do is gut the bathroom and kitchen so I can actually enjoy the beautiful apartment the way I should've when I first moved in. Despite all of this I am SUPER GRATEFUL for a roof over my head, a great community, neighbors and to be able to live alone as well. MANY BLESSINGS TO YOU ON YOUR NEW JOURNEY. You are an inspiration. As a New Yorker who has tried to get their act together I’m so impressed. In my early 30s in the early to mid 00s I made a career change which eventually improved my income but really skewed my work life balance and moved out of a water damaged apartment which had long term effects on my health and finances. I love your videos so much! I'm getting ready to move from SF to NYC in a few months and am dealing with all the same emotions. Also training for NYC marathon in the fall!

Congratulations on the bravery and taking that step not to renew the lease. Moving is scary especially when you're alone and I've been there, I had to move quite a few times, and its draining, stressful, time consuming and nerve wracking. Everything seems easier when you have more money, but here we are making the average if not the minimum, ill keep my fingers crossed that you get through this journey, that it makes you stronger and you love the new space you'll find yourself in!

I have watched your videos for some time and just wondering if I missed when you discussed where you grew up and where your family is...have you posted a video of that or not? Just interested and didn't know if you had. Enjoy your videos as another person who resides alone...not in NY but in California. Understand your concerns and appreciate your vulnerability. Take care and stay safe. Lady bugs can fly so no worry about it being on the ledge.

I love your vlogs, so relatable and I am a cool ---ooh-- 20 years older than you are? :D And I live your life, albeit in Berlin. Some days are like that, others just blow you away for being so great and you're on top of the world! Cannot wait to see your next apartment and what you do with it x

I wanted to hug you when you started crying. It's ok to release those emotions. I know it's not easy but you're new place is going to feel like home 🏠 A quote from Carrie Bradshaw that I heard in the promo of And Just Like That. You don't move on because you're ready to, you move on because you've outgrown who you used to be
