Here's my question. Why is that guy a bully? If someone called your friend/gf/sister a slut, would you sit there with your thumb up your ass or would you defend them. Technically, Reacher is the "bully" here by talking to that girl that way

I know Jack Reacher is supposed to be a huge guy but if you put a huge guy in a fight, you already know who's going to win. Nobody expects that from a Tom Cruise-sized Jack Reacher. That's what makes it so much fun.

If you have read the books, highly recommend them if you haven't, but if you have you know that Jack Reacher is physically huge. When I first learned that Tom Cruise was to be the actor, I thought that was a poor choice, Tom was too small. But Tom is such an exceptional actor, that he actually looks bigger than he is as a result of his acting chops. He made it work. Well done, Tom!

More plausible, certainly. I read somewhere that for covert operations you wanted someone who wouldn't stand out much, and Cruise (other than his celebrity) wouldn't much. Ritchson would fail to blend in almost anywhere. Although I guess his calm, unassuming manner helps considerably there.

I like Tom Cruise as reacher. I had read some of the books before the movie came out, and even though I'm a Tom Cruise fan I was speculative about him playing the role. The thing is though, Reacher in the books is a bit too good to be true. Dude's massive, way more than maybe even a special forces dude. At some point that would have to be a disadvantage for an army career. (though I suppose MP officers could use some good size) Reacher is more than just that though; he's a combat vet. There's a reason why army guys don't look too huge; they need to survive in conditions that rely on mental strength and physical stamina. Fit but strong, and quick on your feet. Tom fits that perfectly, so I didn't have any issue seeing him play Reacher.

These choreographed fight scenes are hilarious, except, street fights don't progress one guy at a time, the toughest guy in the prison yard doesn't last against "3" guys, Funny Shit.
@ashfrog8Ай бұрын
That’s because movies are entertainment not documentaries. Any guy who has to have his friends help him beat up 1 guy is a coward.
@MovieMuscleАй бұрын
You know this from all your street fights do you? I have never had or seen a group perform well together in a fight. The best were football or other sports teams. Group of big jail guards weren't too bad.The team type guys stuck together better and more were willing to fight vs not fight or just watch. A good street fighter analyzes things very fast and far differently. you don't talk or listen, you do.Action beats reaction and often the others are to busy watching and not thinking when the first guy is taken out. You do EVERYTHING with ill intent, to end or neutralize the other fighter in one move. You use environment, you separate them, you control the action as much as you can. Also experience matters A LOT. If a guy has say 200 street altercations, it's a walk in he park for him compared to just about everybody else. Even a very skilled fighter doesn't do well outside of a ring, when he is not in control. The slightest hesitation affords advantage. Also t helps if you are able to deliver knockout shots and be physically superior on top of the experience. A guy the size of Ritchson who has experience can wreck guys like no tomorrow. Like the situation here, they will be calm and calculated. If the person is talking as he wrecks you, that's a clue that it's not his first dance by a long shot. Most are also not use to seeing real damage handed out. It won't be like little kiddies scissor class with a little bloody nose....Unless it is literally pre-organized as to exactly how it will go down, like perhaps a prison jump scenario, which street fights are not, then they do not work in unison. A couple seconds delay means the world when it's time. If they try to coordinate the attack you reset things to your favor. Run if you need to, they end up spaced out, use environment, posts, railings etc for interesting advantage. There's so much to be done. Hollywood is Hollywood but reality is far less planned out. Add in nerves and a lack of clarity and again, major openings. Somebody is always the first to innate or move and others often are left playing catch up and processing things. All depends how tough the 3 guys are who come for the toughest guy. If they are dumb and he's smart...they need a plan. Street just goes off, there's no plan. Unless you are going after somebody specific and have a plan.

My comment refers to the changes in scripting etc, how movies are made, and adapted etc. I know Cruise is not the description of the character. We/ the industry seldom follow books and source material to the letter, as I said above. Cruise IS the superior actor and action hero, ability wise, by a mile. Alan matches the physical presence and description in the book. I have been called by the Reacher team in Toronto multiple times a year for the show but wasn't available.
