A lot of people can’t do a single pull-up because they have a weak core. Studies have repeatedly shown that the core, the biceps, and the lats are the prime movers of the pull-up (in that order). Kneeling lat pull downs better mimic the pull-up. They also incorporate the core unlike the seated lat pull down. You’ll also find that they are more difficult to perform so you’ll move less weight. Great video. You get a thumbs up from me and a new subscriber.

Practice makes perfect ! I am proud to say that I mastered the Pull-ups it took me a whole Year, but I have been knocking them out everyday . 3 sets of 10 military Pull-ups for the last 5 years !! It can happen if you put the hard work in ! 😁

Danielle, practice, practice,practice and it will happen! I wish I would have recorded my progress the very first day I would just jump and hold , fast forward a year I am knocking out 3 sets of 10 military style pull-ups! There are training bands and weighted pull up machines , the key is to use the negative weight, then in no time no weights or bands. 💪✌

This is so much help. Knowing someone like me who is very weak on the upper body, no one really teaches how to do this it’s one of those where you have to figure out on your own but don’t want to in case of embarrassment. Thanks Hanna you’re the best xx

Who needs a gym? Every keep-fitter should have a home pullup bar...put it in doorway, that way you can practice every day several times a day

Actually “ridiculous” is used as slang to mean impressive or ridiculously awesome. You would use it as you’d use “sick”, “badass”, “dope”, “lit”, “crazy”, etc.. It’s intended as a compliment. 👍🏽

You gotta do what you can strict, then swing and cheat a little to get a few more. And when you can't do no more, you hang there to make your hands stronger. 👍

thank you for this video! you mentioned that you have a bad shoulder and so you don't really do wide pull-ups, could you do a video to talk about how to identify what parts of the body you might have problems with and how to address that? for example, how did you know that you have a bad shoulder and what do you do to make it better/avoid making the problem worse?

Is funny, I had been practicing with the assistance machine and one day it was being used... So I decided to try without assistance and I got 5, easy! Now I use the assist to get more extra reps

Congrats on hitting that pull up Hanna! Great video, plenty of good tips. I was wondering about core & glutes as well while doing this movement, I imagine keeping both engaged (as support for the upper body) would aid in stability & control?

Used to love doing pullings not chinups as training for competitive rowing. We used to do 5 sets of 25. Now I am 67 I have had shoulder surgery, wrist surgery and have 2 elbows I can't straighten out. Well, it sounded like a good idea when we were doing them.
