I think all these arguments boil down to the fact that if we are going to allow everyone to own tools designed to murder other human beings then we should probably make sure that everyone who has guns 1. Knows how to properly and safely use and store one 2. Respects the power of having this murdering tool and is willing to take responsibility for the consequences of using it. The reason we have so much gun violence is because guns are so readily available (as the should be) but many, if not most people are missing one or both of those points.

However i normally agree with Steven on alot of topics i think here there is an important point not being discussed properly. Yes, a gun can be very effective. But bear in mind that most people owning a gun aren't necessarily that capable of handling one. What a gun will do in uncapable hands though is escalate a situation. For example you are robbed at gunpoint, or even with a knife for that matter. You pull your gun which will make both you and the robber nervous, therefore making it more likely to get fatally injured. The robber might never had an intent to harm you but because of the threatening situation will be 'forced' to apply violence. So one should ask themselves, is a gun really the most effective way to DEFEND yourself?
@NickTheWize5 жыл бұрын

Your story explains exactly how the West was won. It was not the US army that won the West, but private individuals who owned six shooters who won the West. This was because the army was in a centralized position, and when a call came for help against robbers or Indians, by the time the cavalry got there, the enemy was gone. However, when individuals had firearms, they could defend themselves against attackers or retaliate before the cavalry got there. If you want a couple of good stories where this is shown, then I would recommend G. A. Henty's books "Out on the Pampas," and " Redskin and Cowboy, a tale of the western plains"

And they're perfectly content in putting their lives and their families lives in the hands of police officers. Who would show up to defend you, WITH A GUN. And as mentioned, cops the majority of the time show up AFTER a crime has been commited. Cops RARELY proactively prevent crime from occurring. Most often they are there after the fact to clean up the mess and find the person responsible for the crime. The benefit of a private citizen carrying a firearm and protecting themselves with it is that usually it PREVENTS the crime from occurring to begin with. And I think that's our right as people to be able to defend our own lives and not just sit around and wait and hope that someone ELSE with a gun will show up in time to save me or my son.

Super Mexican Robo Ninja I’ve got questions FOR EVERYONE HERE PLEASE answer , I know in America a lot of people are about guns cause it’s the constitution but I live in Australia and we have strict laws but the those laws where put on a federal level like every state agreed to it and seems to work I know the all the states won’t agree to it in America but do u think or believe that gun control on a federal level works, I’m for guns but for America cause of that where I live in Australia I feel pretty safe but I’m still very cautious at night cause all these possibilities could happen I don’t think it’s needed here but in a lot of places where rape is very common I think there should be but I know in the end result someone will die but sometimes it can even be just pointing the gun at the them. I don’t believe in everyone have a gun I believe the age should go up cause I believe kids these days aren’t mentally stable for guns but in schools I think there should be body guards it’s sad they have to risk their life but it’s their job
@anobleroman89065 жыл бұрын
@@liam.s789 It goes beyond simply wanting to keep guns because it is in the constitution with us U.S. citizens, we want to keep our guns for the very reason that it is included in constitution. We want to be able to defend our families, ourselves, and our property from both the common criminal and the gov't itself (in the case of it turning on us). It is not that this is a right given to us by the constitution, but a natural and unalienable right, that we should be able to defend ourselves. I'm really not on board with the age requirement on guns. It's like requiring someone to be a certain age in order to engage in their right to freedom of speech, or even requiring a permit for freedom of speech. Really unconstitutional. You better believe I would like a gun in school, there's no enjoyment in being a sitting duck waiting to get picked off by someone.
@ghost60115 жыл бұрын
Ben Mackay you just made the most backward statement ever: “let’s just imagine that the criminal has managed to get a gun even they are illegal” you do realize that criminals are people that do illegal things. Let’s just imagine a scenario with a family who is sleeping and a robber with a gun , if there is total gun control then the criminal (who get them illegally i.e black market/off the street) can easily take down an entire family who don’t have a weapon, however when they have a gun then they can defend themselves against the robber.

Only watched a few minutes, skipped the first girl after 15 seconds because I couldn't handle anymore. But after watching for a couple minutes with the second guy.. he should probably back up his claims with data/proof. It's literally people saying one thing, and him just saying "actually you're wrong it's this way", and them going "oh, ok... every day's a rainy one". Immediately noticed he called out the guy for not knowing what a bump stock is when he actually explained exactly what it is. It's a stock that attaches to the gun that allows the recoil to push the trigger inside the stock, then bouncing back and hitting your finger repeatedly. That's basically what the guy said. Yea, you can do it with a belt buckle. But no, he was not wrong in his description. But buddy just takes it and says OK. Bump firing is a technique, sure, the bump stock eliminates the need for that technique and allows you to do it flawlessly without practice. Seeing him tell someone they are wrong within 2-3 minutes about something they were actually right about, and him not having data/proof to back up anything doesn't very much help sway someones opinion. Everyone in these comments was pro gun to begin with. In the end no random off the street is going to have a fighting chance against someone who has been preparing their defense for weeks or months or years before actually setting this up. I'm also not anti-gun at all. I just see no reason for the average individual to believe a word he says. Does he expect them to research every single statement/claim? Pro-gun folks won't research and they'll just take it at face value because that's what they want to believe, and anti-gun folks won't be swayed because there is absolutely no data or proof presented. Pointless videos.

Lmao, it's so funny seeing gun owners have this perception that someone is going to break into their home to try and murder them. How many enemies do you have?! I'm sure the majority of gun owners will never need to use their firearm in a self-defense scenario. But! Now that you can easily get a gun, so can the mentally unstable guy. So can the thug who sells drugs. So can the rapist. So can the thief who just wants to steal your TV but now has a gun so the breaking and entering is elevator to a life or death situation for both you and him. So can the hothead who gets into a road rage arguments. Guns shouldn't be outright banned, but the US has far too many guns. My ideal: You need to go through an 8 month waiting period when applying for a gun license. Extremely strict background check, you need people to vouch for your mental stability, and above 21. Mag limit of 10 rounds for handguns, 5 for rifles. No open carry. No, conceal carry.

Gun control: the theory that a woman found dead in an alleyway, raped and strangled with her own pantyhose is somehow morally superior to the woman who is explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal gunshot wound.
@RedmoonStudiosYT5 жыл бұрын
Schmuck I know multiple people who were protected by themselves or someone else displaying or using a firearm. The most recent was a friend who returned home at about 11:30 at night. As he opened the door to his family’s home four young men accosted him and tried to force their way in, but his father hearing the commotion immediately grabbed his firearm and by brandishing it they ran scared. Of course the police were called and a report was made though the suspects were not found. The hope when you buy a firearm is that you will never need to use it for self-defense. However, it is available and you are trained to use it competently when you must. Also, you have clearly never attempted to purchased a firearm. There are already many different checks that are used during the process. That’s why the guns that criminals use are almost always illegally obtained. Additionally the “checks” you want to put in place are so arbitrary and can easily be used against anyone ever receiving licensure. Why 8 months? Why not 6? 4? 12? What makes 8 the magic number? What if you had an ex-girlfriend with a nasty break-up? All she has to do is say you’re mentally unstable. Finally, no carry of any kind so I will never be able to use it defensively outside my home ever?

Something that I don't think that people understand; The Constitution and Bill of Rights were not written to limit the People, but rather to limit the Government.
@spammo27037 жыл бұрын
Feyd Darkholme the constitution was actually written to strengthen the government. Articles of confederation made it too weak and the only way states would vote on the strong constitution is because the bill of rights guaranteed rights to citizens and states.
@Nevir2027 жыл бұрын
Spammo270 well, I can see your point when you try to argue that. But honestly, looking back on it appears that the Bill of Rights was a mistake. The idea of the Constitution was to lay out the things that the federal government could do, and anything that wasn’t covered in it was not allowable. But people were too worried that they would encroach on peoples rights so they created the Bill of Rights specifically naming things that the government wouldn’t be allowed to do. And now people have twisted it around until they think the federal government can do anything that the bill of rights doesn’t forbid them from doing and people only have the freedoms covered therein, which is a complete inversion of the intention.
@rogerjohnexperience7 жыл бұрын
+Nevir202 Take a look at the 9th amendment. It basically states the opposite of what you've said. The rights guaranteed in the bill of rights shall not be construed to mean that those rights are the only rights that the people have.
@rogerjohnexperience7 жыл бұрын
+Spammo270 The constitution is a document that both grants and limits power. The bill of rights were designed to limit the power of the government to infringe on the rights of the people and not to give rights to people.
@michaelweber59687 жыл бұрын
Feyd Darkholme Nevir20 You are right Hamilton actually said that writing down people's rights was dumb because the rights were already garenteed even if not written down but the states wouldn't ratify the Constitution without the bill of rights and 230 different ones came in but was widdleld down to 12 only 10 passed but yes your exactly right 👏👏👏

Coming from an ex-SJW millennial... keep doing these! If you set a precedent of respect and discussion, you'll win hearts and minds. Through challenging them to research this stuff, you're giving millennials what we're subconsciously starving for: responsibility, and by extension, a tangible path into adulthood.
@CommanderKorra7 жыл бұрын
Conservatives are the adults in this discussion. We set the tone for the conversation when we engage and discuss respectfully, and argue from the facts like Crowder did here. We've got to recognize our responsibility as cultural mentors, and be blessings in the lives of millennials. Millennials are DYING to be "called up" into adulthood. Most just don't know it yet.

Funny thing is, I get into similar situations like these when I supply teach here in Canada. And since I also bring my laptop (mainly to access the school board's online attendance registry), I can add a visual aspect to my explanations if need be. The first woman's point against guns follows the same logic as her point defending the app on your phone: if you don't have time to access your gun during a home invsion, how the hell do you expect to have time to access an app on your phone while you're being attacked? And have the time to wait for the cops to show up? You'd be dead by then.

I wonder if these snowflakes realize that guns can be made without the approval of the government. It's just knowledge: Physics, chemistry, and toss in a little metallurgy and you can *make* a gun. You can pass a law that says I can't; but it's a hard law to enforce. It's almost as if they think the government makes guns and regular people can't.
@Procrastimaster7 жыл бұрын
Not that I agree with her opinions, but I know what app she's talking about. You turn it on before you leave a building to walk to your car (or anywhere else) and hold your thumb on your screen. If your thumb comes off the screen at any time--if someone grabs you, for instance--within seconds local police receive a call for help with your GPS coordinates. There's something similar for Uber/Lyft rides as well, if you have a creepy driver. Not great for home invasions, but useful when walking across a dark campus.
@markg7357 жыл бұрын
And if I am a sufficiently tech minded attacker it's not all that hard to make a device that broadcasts so much RF noise the phone is worthless. I have a huge problem when people without scientific knowledge about the world make policies on it. Of course the statement above is extreme. However there are many, many other reasons that the data path from the phone all the way to the authorities can fail. Do you really want to trust your life to that stuff? I wouldn't (and I'm a telecomm engineer). There is of course the most obvious argument: That all the technology works perfectly and within a few 100 milliseconds the authorities are notified. By the time they get there: you are dead. An app on your phone is just that: an app on your phone. It's not a way to defend yourself. It's a way to send a message. One can't equate a phone with an app to a form of defense.
