I made a mini back-to-school wardrobe for my 4 YEAR OLD | gender neutral toddler & kids patterns!

Autumn is right around the corner, and kids are back in school!
Hang out with me while I plan and sew my daughter a FUNctional (see what I did there?) tiny wardrobe, perfect for climbing trees, painting masterpieces, and digging up bugs. Using a few gender neutral children's sewing patterns, I'll share the process of making a couple flannels, long sleeve turtleneck tees, and a cozy fleece quarter zip sweatshirt, as well as a couple pairs of leggings based on a store-bought pair we love already!

Ah thank you so much, you’re so kind to say that! It’s always a challenge considering she’s my whole world and involved in just about every part of my life, but being careful is so worth it. She’s the greatest joy of my life, so it seems unnatural at times to not share her with the world, but her privacy and safety is too important. I’m happy to hear you, and others, can appreciate it!

I love your videos! You are so inspiring. If you were a pro, I don’t think it would inspire me as much as you always making the viewer feel they might be able to do it. I’d love to be near my granddaughter so I could sew more for her. Not being able to try things on is a problem. Keep up the good work. Every time I see you have a video,I get excited.

Thanks so much!! That’s so nice to hear! The good thing about sewing kids clothes is if they end up being too big, the kids will grow into them eventually! Haha But yes, it’s definitely harder when they can’t try them on, especially when it comes to proportions and length. It’s nice to be able to hold up a pattern piece to my daughter and eyeball how much longer I want to make a top, pants, etc. Anyway, you’re so kind! Thanks so much for watching! 💕

hii, for the sleeves that are too long, you can re adjust the length of the sleeve on the part of the shoulder( the part that connects with the arm hole) instead of the cuff, that way you don't have t o re-do the cuff's slit

I have the same issue on my serger on occasion with the thread showing. It’s usually because the thread isn’t seated in the tension disc perfectly. I just rethread the whole machine and that helps. If I just adjust the tension it doesn’t fix it because the thread isn’t in the tension discs properly anyways. I do the same thing you did to fix it. I just stitch along the edge of the seam too but I use a straight stitch and eloflex or Mara. I have no idea why but I dislike zig zag stitching. It feels like it takes longer. lol.

Your daughter is lucky to have a cool custom wardrobe for school ❤ I have been wanting to cut apart some of my daughters leggings for a pattern, but I worry about “sacrificing” them since there’s no hope I would be able to put them back together 😂 I hope I can find a cheap pair at a thrift store soon.

Yay thank you! It’s great to be back, and I hope to upload more consistently now that the kiddo is back in school. My pattern weights are just little marble coasters I thrifted 8ish years ago! Anything heavy and flat works like a charm. Thanks for watching!

Everything turned out so cute! What settings did you use to make the lettuce hem? I saw it in the video but wasn’t able to catch what you actually set your machine to. I know you can also do lettuce hems with a serger but it looks like you used a zig zag stitch?

Thank you!! I set my machine to a zig zag stitch on the shortest stitch length setting. I’ve never done it with a serger because this way is super easy, but I know you can!

I don’t actually do many mockups unless I’m making something fitted! Most of the sewing patterns I use are pretty forgiving, and I try to use less-precious fabric the first time I make something, so hopefully my toiles end up being somewhat wearable!
