The last pot luck that had a Jello salad served was in 1985. I’ve never seen one since. The jello salad (which was very good btw) was made by a woman in her late 40´s. Everyone loved it. It had walnuts, miracle whip, ( the use of miracle whip and walnuts was enough for me to tell she wasn’t a Southerner) I think it had seedless grapes, bananas, tangerine sections and pineapple chunks. All fresh. I remember it being dark red. Geez, I haven’t thought about this in years. 3 years later people were making potato salad out of tiny red potatoes in their jackets with sour cream and dill. I haven’t seen that for years either.

@@sonogabri1 Hi. while Red 40 was banned in some european countries ( Denmark, Belgium, France, Switzerland, and Sweden), the EFSA overturned this decision in 2008 and the dye has been used in food and medicinal products throughout the entirety of europe since, only marketed under the name "Allura Red" and E129 so as not to scare consumers with the scary red40 name.

Forgive me if someone has said this already, but after watching, I feel like the whipped cream-and-cherry mixture could've used some unflavored gelatin mixed in to stabilize it. When you were lifting the springform off, I was watching that top layer sag because it was just...whipped cream with a liquid (cherries) added. I know you said it had been out of the refrigerator for a bit, but... I still think a tablespoon of unflavored gelatin would've helped the pie hold up a bit better. All that said, it did look appealing! Thanks for everything, Emmy! Longtime watcher, first time commenter! OH! And my favorite pie is chocolate brandy pecan!

I know your video is about pies, but I just had to tell you something. What I wanted to tell you is I used the way you separate the egg white from the yolk and it is so much easier than any other way I've tried so Thank You. I made a cake for my brother who has been fighting cancer and had to put in 4 egg whites. Putting the eggs in a bowl one at a time and then reaching in with my hand and taking out the yolk was so easy. I am so happy that you demonstrated your way of separating the egg yolk from the white.

@teridoster5840
@teridoster5840 Ай бұрын
I was thinking something like that as well! My thoughts were splitting the cherry whipped cream (like 2/3 & 1/3 or even 1/2 & 1/2) and adding the rest of the pudding mix to the 2/3 portion so you still have the really airy fluffiness of the remaining unadulterated cherry cream to put on the very top, but it’s only a thin layer so it’s more stable

One of the Hallmark Holiday movies, had a part that there was grand party of a wealthy couple, which the mother had this fancy cake that she claimed to make but actually bought it. It got damaged, so the daughter & old boyfriend rescued the mother by making a fancy layered cake composed entirely of layered twinkles covered with a frosting. It was a hit, which some loved but couldn't place the flavor of the cake. The twinkle pie, reminds of an Americanized version of tiramisu. I'm sure Emi wanted to glam up her twinkie pie or twinkie layer cake, she's do an awesome job how to make elevate up with a few tweaks here and there. Not bad. I wonder if Emi could whip up one for lactose intolerance guests.

It looks like this pie could benefit from being in the freezer for a while before serving, just so the pudding and cream gets very cold and almost turn into a slightly melty ice cream. And as someone who uses whipped heavy cream (we're talking 40% fat content) for cakes and desserts, I also think you could have whipped the cream a bit more, it looked rather runny to me. When I make cake for birthdays and such, I used whipped heavy cream both for covering and piping, so you can probably imagine how stiff you can actually whip it without it starting to turn into butter. I tend to go by owl eyes in the bowl, when the owl eyes (the pattern made by the whisks of a hand mixer looks like owl eyes) keeps its shape and don't sag instantly and also keeps its shape pretty well when giving the bowl a gentle tap against the counter, your cream is perfect for piping and cake covering because it will keep its structural integrity very well

Some ideas to boost the flavor with the same ingredients: 1. Half of the butter (melted), plus the other half of the butter, browned... in the crust. If you have a stainless steel frothing mug, it's better than microwaving, since you have more control over the heat, and it doesn't take much longer. 2. Toasted (then cooled+crumbled) Nilla wafer crumbs (topping).

They’re all stone fruits, along with peaches, plums, apricots, etc. Think about what is inside a peach pit- looks a lot like an almond. Some things we think of as ‘almond’ flavoured, are actually from apricot kernels - such as Ameretto!

She didn’t set enough cherries aside. You need a few for snacking. ;-) I think for something like this, a fake whipped cream (Cool Whip) would work better. The whipped cream seemed a little under-whipped for stiff peaks and got a bit deflated mixing in the blended cherries. A little cream of tartar helps stabilize whipped cream too. Refrigerated to almost frozen might help too.

I wonder if slightly upping the amount of pudding mix or perhaps popping the whole pie into the freezer rather than the fridge might help with the texture of the pie setting up a bit more so that it holds it shape better? The flavors definitely sound yummy together though, almost like a banana split! 🙂 I bet a little bit of fudge or ganache, with or without some chopped nuts on top, would make it even more banana-split-esque. :) My favorite pie is usually butterscotch or strawberry rhubarb, but I'm also a big fan of coconut cream and banana cream, especially in a pie shake.
