I like liquid cleansers to be pretty thick because they're easier to handle - less chance that they'll drip out of my hands!

The blog is also where my ingredient encyclopedia and FAQ live, and they're both packed with tons of super-helpful information ❤️ Happy making!

Can i replace the distilled water with rose hydrosol to give it fragrance instead of using a fragrance oil?
@HumblebeeAndMe10 ай бұрын
Yup! Just be sure to replace the fragrance oil with more distilled water to keep everything in balance.

@@HumblebeeAndMe I did this afternoon. Thank you, I am new to the website 🙂. I am just finding Plantapon/Coco Glucose very expensive to formulate with as it's making the COG around $7. I will look into Iselux Ultra Mild. Thank you for the resources.

Hi Marie, thank you so much for this awesome recipe. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had any issues with it being too runny? I have made 2 different batches, following your instructions - the first batch I thought wasn't thick enough so I added 1tsp of xanthum gum mixed in with 20g glycerin, which really thickened it up great - but now a few weeks later it is runny again?? The other batch seemed to be thick enough at first but has also gone runny a few weeks later. Any ideas?? I like a really nice thick body & hand wash. At least something that doesn't squirt out at you when you pump the pump on the bottle! :)

Hi Marie could you share your opinion about Sodium Phytate and using it in formulation
@HumblebeeAndMe2 жыл бұрын
I've never worked with it, sorry.
@melindanicole91162 жыл бұрын
I always include a chelating agent in my bath products, especially anything that has any botanicals because it will help with preservation because it binds to the trace metal ions so that microbes can't eat it and thrive. If clarity is important go with tetrasodium EDTA, plus it dissolves faster than Disodium EDTA but it will dissolve. If you ever wanted to use SCMI in a liquid, definitely use tetrasodium EDTA because it will help with it's solubility and clarity. If natural is important than sodium phytate is a good choice, it has a high pH but because it is used in a small amount it shouldn't alter the pH of your product too much. But I always check your pH at the end to make sure it's in range. Citric acid is a mild chelator but I don't know how much you'd have to use to have it work, and if you have to use a lot you will end up with a very acidic product.

This looks delightful! I just recently bought Plantapon, too 😊 also, I have a lovely blueberry extract and an elderberry extract so one of those will work well for colour.

That's fun! It's always neat to find a new way of doing something that you're used to doing totally differently. If you are open to experimenting with xanthan gum again, try xanthan gum soft. I got mine from FSS. I've used it at up to 2% in a jelly mask with no unpleasant sensation. (3% made a shampoo I have to scoop out of a jar and it's a tad snotty.) I've never tried regular xanthan because of the snottiness you've talked about, but TaraLee loves xanthan gum soft, so I gave it a try and now I use it in masks, shampoos, and facial cleansers.

Hi Marie! It looks divine indeed :) How would you recommend to decrease the % of surfactants if I want to put it in a bottle with foaming top?
@HumblebeeAndMe2 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend following one of my many formulations designed for a foamer top bottle instead; due to the self-thickening nature of this surfactant blend I don't think it's a good choice for a foamer formulation :)
