I make a similiar soup- this looks very yummy. Love the addition of bacon. You can use a 14.5 oz can of tomatoes to replace fresh (your choice- I like to blend anyways) and Apple Cider Vinegar to replace lime (though lime is delicious). The ACV might change the flavor profile a bit- but will still be delicious. And if one does not like lentils, use beans. Once you get the basics of soup-making down, it is SO easy. Thank you for the recipe and demo. 🙂

Thank you for this wonderful recipe. Lentils are so good and healthy to eat. Since I am bed ridden and need someone to make this for me, I will use already cooked Lentils from the store. It's hard in our older age to cook like we used to be. Thank you and God bless 😊

already cooked lentils is fine! just cook all the veggies including the potatoes from the beginning for 10 min. then add the lentils and cook for 5 min to warm them up and finish cooking all veg. I would reduce the broth

Good evening, I just watched your soup video and I loved it. It looks really really good. I am a soup maker for a living just to have something to do in my spare time as I'm almost retired. I've never used lentil, so could you help me? I don't know how it would go at my work, they're going to ask me what is lentil 🤷, I think I would like to add some smoked sausage like kielbasa or something. What do you think? Please help me out. Thank you. And God bless❤🙏❤️
@CamirrasKitchen2 ай бұрын
its cool you are a soup maker! smoked sausage and lentils can work together. i think it would take the flavor in a differnt direction. smoked sausage esp andouille it giving me cajun vibes. so i would add celery, remove cilantro and lime, add a can of diced tomaotes, a touch of tomato paste, cajun seasoning along with other seasoning, keep the bacon. i think this would be a great soup and i kinda wanna explore this idea myself hahah!

my favorite fall soup is more of a stew I guess? It's a lentil stew from Etheopia called Misir Wat/Misir Wot (I can't read Amharic unfortunately) but it uses a unique spice blend called Berbere and a unique spiced clarified butter called Niter Kibbeh and it's DIVINE and VERY spicy and VERY flavorful. I recently made doro wat for the first time (similar but more onion heavy and uses a whole chicken, your kind of recipe!) and it was sooooo good. I didn't even have niter kibbeh. If there's an etheopian market near you, you can get the ingredients! and if not, you can order berbere online.

The reason some people taste soap in cilantro is because of a genetic variation in olfactory system which picks up certain compounds in cilantro that taste “soapy” it’s not that a large number of people just agreed to make it up, a lot of people can’t help that is what they taste when they eat cilantro
