No, if the issue isn’t that you need someone to talk to, talking to someone isn’t going to help and like the other person mentioned; ppl unable to open up for whatever reason isn’t going to benefit from talking about it because they’re unable to. I’ve tried so many different therapists for so many years and the only good things I ever got out of it was being referred to other places(not therapy). I’ve told by so many people, so many times that therapy will help, but instead of it helping me I just lost faith in that it can help anyone. I went from wanting to be a therapist and help ppl to believing it was just a scam that couldn’t possibly help anyone, so please stop lying by saying therapy is for everyone and that ppl just need to try harder, because if I ever were to actually could benefit from it, I’m not going simply because I kept trying when it wasn’t what I needed and that ruined it for me. Things don’t get better until you get the help you need and sometimes that isn’t to talk to someone. I don’t doubt that the concept(getting it all out) isn’t good for everyone, but the method that works will vary; for some talking to a person will be the most helpful, for some talking to a wall/pet etc(that can’t respond and all) is what works, dancing, singing, other forms of moving the body, art and so on is what will be what works for others. Edit: talking about talk therapy

I feel this story fits here. Back in my very first office job I tried really hard to sound professional on the phone. One day a client rang up and asked to talk to a colleague who had just left the company. My response was 'I'm sorry but he's no longer with us' and the client started stammering and given her condolences for the loss. I got so flustered and over clarified hard on how well and alive my ex colleague was. That was 20 years ago and that call still pops up as a cringy brain fart every so often 😳 😂

I've done this one before! It was actually beneficial for me, though, because my grandmother had moved out to live on her own but we kept getting marketing calls from a bead and jewelry company she frequently ordered from. Since they might actually stop calling if they thought she was straight-up dead, I didn't bother to clarify. Never got a call from them again!

I don't think banana bread is that much effort, so I really don't understand this one. We have the opposite problem anyway- I have to specifically buy bananas and hide them from us in order to still have them by the time they're ripe enough to make anything with them lol. That said, this is an amazing idea and I'll definitely have to try it (we'll still have to buy more bananas and hide them to make it work though haha).

I love my family and friends, but I have the tendency to be in my own little world and focus mainly on my own problems, so I sometimes have to remind myself to ask how they're doing (instead of waiting for them to volunteer the info) or about a recent date, vacation, etc.

Fun fact: Bananas used to taste better then they do. When we bread the seeds out we lost the yummy crop and replaced them with the blander version we have now. Fun fact: bananas are now the Cavendish variety. The taste we all know as "fake banana" is what bananas actually used to taste like, but then that species went functionally extinct due to a fungus that wiped the trees out. The Cavendish was chosen as replacement because it was more resistant, but it too is now under attack by an infection in the trees. There are several other species of bananas, some of them pink, that could take over from the Cavendish but only time will tell if people adapt to the new taste. Edited for spelling but words may still have errors because it is stupid'o'clock

I went to therapy for about 6 months, and the actual therapy was okay and my therapist gave me some good ideas. But to be perfectly honest, the half hour drive there listening to music and the half hour home, so about 2 hours just for me, I think was the thing that helped me the most. The analogy of the messy house was a good one, but for years I've taken the messy house out of the equation. Probably 20+ years ago, i started saying to people, "Did you come to see me or my house? If you came to see me, ignore my messy house please. If you came to see my house, comment on my messy house etc, then, please go home until seeing me is more important than whether my house is messy or not. " I don't know if the messy house still bothered some people who might have come to my house, but they no longer made comments about my house, at least not to me. And honestly, I don't really care what you think of my house, unless I specifically invite you over to see my house.

“Life is better when you decide your worth is not a group decision” Ok now I feel like I went to therapy!!! This is such a hard lesson to learn… It is one I feel like I have to learn over and over again! Just when I think I have learned it I find I need a refresher course. We live in a society that constantly gives us messages that we have to meet or surpass others expectations. So it is very hard for me when a group of people give me the message that I am not worthy enough to receive basic respect. This one I should write out in giant letter(visually impaired here) and tape to my bathroom mirror… in fact I think I will!

Instead of banana bread, you can also mix mashed banana with egg and fry it. They call it a "flourless pancake" and is quicker than mixing actual pancake mix (more ingredients and more mixing to get the lumps out) then having to make a whole stack one by one. It's as easy as a basic omelette, just with banana in it. And add honey on top when it's done. Also when I get a bunch of bananas, I often take half of the bunch, and slice them up into coins, and put them in a container in the freezer. Great little snack (like banana icecream in small pieces), or add to porridge, cereal etc as needed. They last longer. You can also separate the bunch of bananas so they don't ripen as quickly. They give off ethylene which helps their neighbouring bananas to ripen more quickly (that's why people sometimes put a piece of fruit with their bunch of bananas to help the other fruit to ripen).

Could someone explain the concept op grafting fruittrees to Shaaba please😂 Basically, you don't need seeds to create more of the same plant. The grafted tree will therefore be a clone of the mother tree. This does mean though that all regular bananas from the supermarket are from the same type of banana tree, which can cause an issue if a virus emerges that specifically targets that tree, because there is no genetic diversity in these trees so they will likely all die at that point and that will be the end of bananas. There you go, replaced one fear with another for you😂

I think that the quotes about believing when someone shows who they are and don't judge book by it's cover, don't contradict each other at all. When you first meet someone, you don't know what they are really like and shouldn't reject people by the superficial things. When you get to know people, they are going to show you what they are really like at some point and then you should believe it and not give anyone an endless amount of chances. I guess the extreme example would be, that don't stay with a violent partner, because the odds are that they are not going to change

I'm also of the therapy-as-needed variety. I can work through most issues in my mind. I can process them and work them out for myself. I very rarely need to talk things out and I often can't effectively talk about things until I've processed them for myself. What I find therapy useful for is resolving those really tricky issues that just dig their claws in and for when you need to learn healthy coping mechanisms. It helped me a lot in coming to terms with a difficult diagnosis and resolving some really deeply entreched childhood trauma.

The thing with bananas not having seeds isn’t the reason why they’re a bit unstable to make more of. It’s reasonably easy to clone bananas without seeds but the problem is that since they’re all genetically identical if a bacteria evolved to kill one then it’ll spread to all bananas

Banana bread is so easy though! 3 bananas and 2 eggs mixed into a banana soup, then mix in 2 cups flour, 3/4 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/2 cup of nuts if you want. Throw that into a greased loaf pan and into the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for an hour then let it cool outside of the pan. I do all of the mixing by hand and it still takes less than 5 minutes to prepare.... my biggest problem is having too much banana bread....

One time I, a Canadian, went to visit my girlfriend who lived in the US and we went out for lunch at a burger place. I ordered a cheeseburger and the waitress asked me “how would you like it?” And I replied “uh… cooked?” I proceeded to get confused stares from the girlfriend and the waitress, who then was like “so… well done it is then!” And that was when I learned that in the US you can order a burger like a steak.

When I worked as a cashier we had to push the product of the month. That month it was I belive Snickers with exotic flavors. We were about a week or two in when a customer asked me, after my sells pitch, " what makes the spices erotic." Hearing it back I had an instant realization that I mixed up the words exotic and erotic, and I am pretty sure I mixing the two words up since the begin of the month.

Peel the bananas, wrap in clingfilm, put in freezer, pull out when you have energy for banana bread or toss into smoothies. Especially useful when there is just one or two overripe bananas.

Bananas grow form cutings they can propigate forever. the original banana cultivator got sick and was not high enough production afterwards. The "artificial banana flavor" is based on the original banana cultivator. There are even blue and red banana cultivators.

I was walking out of a sandwich shop while a girl was going in; naturally I held the door for her. She said "thanks" like a normal person, and I said "your problem" like a weirdo person. My brain combined "you're welcome" with "no problem". I wasn't embarrassed much, so I started cackling laughing, also like a weirdo person. After that, I started training myself to always give an immediate response of "thank you" to anything a person might say to me, and it gives my brain time to process what they've said and give an appropriate response after thanking them. So far I haven't come across a scenario where immediately thanking them isn't applicable. You all should def give it a try if your knee-jerk response is something like "you too" and you feel embarrassed by it.

You can put your banana in the freezer. As soon as my bananas are past eating, they go straight into the freezer. They will keep for ages in the freezer and when you are ready to use them for banana bread, you can pop them in the microwave for 30-60 seconds or throw them in the food processor quickly (don’t go too long or you basically end up with ice cream- just a quick blitz on pulse will do). I currently have about 12 bananas in my freezer… I WILL make banana bread!

I Work at a retail store unloading trucks and restocking the shelves and while unloading a truck once I pushed the boxes down the line and accidentally pushed them into my coworkers finger and instead of saying “I’m sorry for getting your finger” I accidentally said “I’m sorry for fingering you” 😩🤦😂. I didn’t even realize what I said until I saw the expression on their face and was instantly horrified and completely died inside but I also couldn’t stop laughing from cringing and made so many jokes at my own expense about what I said to other coworkers because it was just too horrifying not to share instead of hiding in shame as a way to get over my hilarious failure.

Just started this and I’m now going to go make banana bread! If you’re not ready to make the bread asap you can always freeze them & they’ll be even easier to mush when you are ready! Not sure the limited bananas thing is true? The current main banana strain is a clone & susceptible to a banana blight (which has happened before and the main banana people eat around the world adjusted. There’s a lot of banana varieties that do have seeds, or don’t travel as well)

Have you heard of Monotropism? It’s a new theory in neurodivergent science. I know you have ADHD and it’s more common in Autistic people but still more prevalent in ADHD peeps than neurotypical people xxx It might be why ‘you don’t wanna do the thing, even though you know you’ll enjoy it!’ Like seeing loved ones and even when doing chores I recommend Meg’s video on it - her KZbin channel is ‘I’m autistic, now what?’

Sorry, shaba and everyone else, but bananas never had seeds they are a "mule." That is a combination of two species that can not breed. There are a few "breeds" of banana, but each breed is genetically identical, making them very vulnerable to disease, and at least one breed has been wiped out in this way. (Gros Michel) This is also why many older people think bananas taste different now.

Bananas never had seeds. The modern banana is made by cross pollinating the wild banana that has sharp inedible seeds with plantains. The banana trees don't exist without people doing this. So bananas will not die out until humans do.

Some good news on the subject of bananas from someone who has banana trees. Banana trees make baby banana trees from their roots, so even though there aren't seeds, more plants will still grow. Hopefully that means we won't run out of potassium sticks anytime soon 🍌 Also, I gave the 666th like and that makes me happy 😆

Therapy is an ongoing thing for me. I may not see the benefits of it from session to session, but when I've "little miss Lucy sunshined" myself through several sessions, my therapist knows exactly how bad things are that I can't put those rosy glasses on and cover it all up with a flippant "it's fine" and an awkward laugh. It's important, for me at least, that my therapist sees me in all sorts of different moods and stress levels so that she can find ways to help me.

I have a slightly unusual surname, and often in school teachers would ask me about it. One day we had a sub teacher come in, and he was taking attendance and reading everybody's names. He came to my name and, after reading it, asked me a question I didn't understand. I just assumed he was asking about my surname, and answered explaining what my surname means. My friend then pointed out he had asked a completely different question. I actually don't remember what I did afterwards, my brain must have removed the memory 🤦‍♀
