Hold finger for a few seconds over an app icon (the Play Store, in this case) to pop up menu, then tap "App info" (i) button. Then tap on "Notifications". You can switch off specific categories - or just everything at once. I think the one you want to disable is called "Updates completed". I have my notifications extremely fine-tuned for all apps. I only get notifications for things I actually care about. Google Pixel 6 Pro here. started with iPhone mainly because we got one cheap second hand, but a main motivator to switch to Android was also just being locked into the small storage of iPhones, haha. As for customizability, don't forget you can also replace your home screen - it's just an app, after all. I'm using Total Launcher and spent a couple months dragging, dropping, and resizing stuff by hand for a fully customized and compact UI. It's inspired by Star Trek LCARS, but otherwise, totally original.

I used to consistantly buy flagship phones (iPhones, Blackberrys, Samsungs). The Note 9 was my last flagship phone. Since you can't change batteries any more, and the lack of updates (and when you do get an update, it might actually make your 1-2 year old device even worse) really makes the phone worse in the end rather than it actually breaking. I've never broken a phone. Now I'm on a Samsung Galaxy A52s 5g. It works. I use my phone for basic stuff. Maps, Whatsapp, email, listening to music and banking. I carry a full frame camera for photography and a nintendo switch for gaming on the go. So all I need is my phone to be a phone. Most midrangers are quite competent nowadays. I also recently switched from an iphone to a Pixel. Yep, the back button and the proper File Explorer are huge for me! Yes, Apple is pretty. I feel that it is superficial, though. If you actually want to do work, Android is more productive. My iphone would struggle with large spreadsheets, and I frequently lost changes that I made to files. The files would not sync properly and I would end up with files that were multiple days old. If a talking cartoon head of yourself is important, then go with Apple. Oh, and for the notifications on Android, just long-press on a notification and turn it off. You'll never see it again. My iphone asked me weekly if I wanted to continue to allow the weather app to access my location. I would say yes, but it seemed to forget my choice and then it would ask me again a week later. That was incredibly annoying!

2 months later, How has your android experience been? I just switched to iPhone for the first time after lifelong android to see what was so special about the famous ios. True. I’ve had android my whole life and then my family encouraged me to get an iPhone for a family plan and I agree, it is a “mehhhh ok” phone. Some aspects about my iPhone are alright (like the build quality) other aspects are bad (0 customizability, you don’t have a say in privacy, the folder file system is more complicated then it should be, you can’t really leave the ecosystem etc) but in general I don’t understand the hype over iPhones. The perfect smartphone for me would be one where the materials and weight feel solid in your hand. Preferably made of fairly thick plastic or aluminum, no back glass, and the software is privacy and minimalist focused. Just the bare basics ie calculator, some reading book app, calling and texting and a privacy focused browser.

Although I can somewhat agree with you, I also think that some people just see Android as Samsung with too much tinkering and bad animations. And it's not completely wrong. Phones like the Nothing Phone and Pixel are becomming more and more popular because they actually contain a good Android ROM, polished and with easier access. Casual users just want that. A phone for texting, calling and maybe the camera and social media. It should just work. And the A Series isn't doing justice either. Helped with setting up an A phone. Took ages and I couldn't really make a Samsung account properly. You CAN deal with the iOS problems. A Sideloading service for iOS costs around 15$ a year and customization can be done with Cowabunga Lite or with good Widget apps. The Shortcut app is useful for some Android features. I traded my Moto Edge 30 Pro for an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Bad move. Android is simpler and more intuitive. The screen of the Edge is - was :( a lot more brilliant and sharper. There is just so much "stuff" on the iPhone that I will never use, and navigating around and through it all is frustrating. I will suffer the iPhone until the end of the year and perhaps get the Pixel 9 Pro. Thank you for your informative and entertaining videos.

Glad you're enjoying the Pixel. As a developer, it was such a nightmare building an app for Android and the market share/piracy risk thing is such a big issue that I didn't bother building my app for Android, even though I was using a cross-platform framework.

You what now. It's way easier on Android. And you aren't forced to own a Mac and use their horrible horrible swift or xcode *shivers* Making an Android app and uploading it is as simple as compiling it into a AAP or apk and just sharing or uploading that to the playstore. Also, one time fee. Not an overpriced subscription model. I've never once before heard anyone say it is easier to complete an app for iOS until now.

Also what privacy risk lol? You sound like one of those nuts that believe side loading is a security risk because google/apple can't get their paycheck from that.

Last year switch from iPhone to a Galaxy S21 and I'm not looking back, it's GREAT! I still have an iPad so I've not left iOS entirely behind but as a daily my Android phone is just so much nicer than my iPhone was.

How are they money sucking if phones are less expensive and last longer then any other phone 😂 they are usable for over 8 years ,while there isn’t a single android that is usable after 8 years 😂,most give up after 2 , Mac is same thing m1 air for 899 will outperform ANY windows pc for 899 😂

I’ve considered switching to Android from iOS several times but never have. The OnePlus Open has me intrigued because of how well the crease is hidden compared to other folds. Personally, I just like how iOS looks compared to Android. I know there are iOS launchers out there that you can download. iOS for me has also been reliable for the most part. I had one major issue with my old iPhone 8+ which ended up boot looping on me. It’s going have to take Apple to screw up royally in order to get me to switch at this point.

You think the creast is bad that I hardly notice it but that ugly bathtub on the iphone screen is a eye sore shame on apple for putting it there for advertising on commercials

OnePlus Open is by far the most mature foldable device, nothing really comes close to it in foldables, strongly recommended!

A lot of foldables made after 2020 don't have crease issues. I think the only one that had the biggest issue was the Z-Flip. But the OnePlus Open, Motorola RAZR, and the newest Z-Flip and Z-Fold is a great choice! I've have my Motorola RAZR 5G for 3 1/2 years now, and I use it all the time. It's got a few scratches on the screen, but no creases, and no dead pixels or black spots. Works flawlessly.

Welcome to the green team. I've been using my Motorola RAZR 5G since 2021, and it's been a great phone! I love how you can have a full size phone, that doesn't take up your entire pocket space. I bought it used in mint condition for $300 back in 2021. You can pick them up for even cheaper now, like $150-$200.

Disclaimers: 1. Graphene is not necessary, he just got it so he doesn't get google spyware 2. a lot of the cool customization stuff (and certain stuff that he mentioned was exclusive to graphene) is mainly on samsung's android version, specifically within the app "good lock". 3. most android users usually don't use open source apps, but it's great for privacy and security and if you're using root/superuser, unlocked bootloader, etc. 4. by 2050, apple will probably have to make ios open source because of europe, until they decide to just merge it with android and you don't have to worry about the walled garden anymore.

I just switched to a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 today from an iPhone XS, and I must say, never really thought I would ever buy an android phone, but I'm really enjoying my Flip so far. Also, for what so many iPhone users make it sound like, its much better and more polished than I've always been told by other apple users.

btw if your phone runs out of storage you can just factory reset it and it becomes new again, no need to buy a new one btw2! unlike on iPhones, to go back you don't need to swipe from the left edge to the right, you can also swipe from the right edge to the left! it's pretty nice. though 3-button navigation is also nice, especially on phones that aren't humongous this is a pretty interesting take on the switching to Android thing! instead of using Android exactly the same way as you would've used an iPhone, jumping from one walled garden into another, you took actually advantage of Android's freedom and openness, to make the experience and your device truly your own. you're like the only youtuber that actually stepped back and considered what makes Android special. i was very surprised!

It is amazing you got into all of this without android experiance and only knowing apple
