I had one on once, wanted to see what bread does it to your suger levels (had not touched bread for months). The idea was to compare white bread to whole grain. In theorie It would not make a difference. I had fasted for 16 ours, than had 4 slices of whole grain bread. Got a spike of 200 and a drop to 54. Bread = sugar. No difference with white bread, no difference with thick butter or chees on top. Don't eat bread, it's just sugar.

Thank you for your videos. Your positivity and high energy are just infectious. (Better than coffee!) For the 2 weeks you had the CGM, how was that experience in a physical sense? Did you ever bump into things? Was it cumbersome at the gym? What brand did you use? Also interested in the sticker you used to cover the CGM (for when i'm at the gym) Pro's and Con's of that particular CGM? Very curious. Also, as a type 2 diabetic... Your worst numbers are me at my best numbers. LOL. Thanks for this. It's very illuminating.
@LillieKane2 жыл бұрын
Hey Ron! Wearing the CGM for the 2 weeks did not impact my day to day. I honestly forgot I was wearing it sometimes. I didn't bump into anything but if you did, that sucker is really stuck on there. The CGM comes with the sticker which was incredibly sticky so even while taking a shower, after 2 weeks, that sticker was just as stuck onto my arm as the first day. The con to using this CGM was having to scan it within 8 hours because I would forget and then it will lose your data if you don't scan it. But if someone is just making sure to scan after each meal or a few times a day, then they wouldn't have this problem. The pros were endless. When you use NutriSense, they assign you a dietitian who sends you regular emails about your CGM results and who guides you all the way. Honestly my dietitians emails were so long and detailed, I was very much impressed. The CGM shows even more data than just blood sugars, it tracks your steps, your sleep score, and more. I went with NutriSense who did give me a $50 off code to give to my subscribers. Use code Lillie50 for $50 off at checkout. Here is the link to their website if you want to check them out: www.nutrisense.io/ Have an awesome day! :D

You don’t spike because you are insulin sensitive, muscular, very low body fat, very active. Dr. Paul Mason practices sports medicine. He has many youtube videos. He says top athletes do not show significant spike during glucose tolerance test using 75 g. of glucose. In other words, glucose spikes are a reflection of metabolic health. If you were insulin resistant, your results would be dramatically different. It is the degree of metabolic health that explains the differences in response from person to person.

Great video. Yes everyone should do similar experiments. Yes when fat and sugar are mixed will generally cause the highest spikes. Can also have "Dawn effect" spikes. YES spikes can be good. That's a very tight range for blood sugar. My mother had a stroke and I took care of her for the last 5 years of her life. And bought a CGM for her before it was cool. She was diabetic 2 with a horrible A1C. Her doctor put her on metformin which was a horrible poison that not only didn't help with her blood sugar, it caused terrible diarrhea. Her doctor never asked about her diet. I changed her diet to low carbs and brought her A1C down to pre-diabetic with a dramatic change. And she quit metformin. When her blood sugar would spike over 200 which it would do rather easily depending on the food, she would have pain in her legs and other parts of her body. So it's not just "oh this is bad" it also has real consequences in terms of pain. Also, huge spikes in blood sugar cause you to get tired. Which is another problem.

I totally agree that CGM should be available for anyone who would want to learn what foods and things do to us. It's a tool like none other. Simple learning about how your body works is KEY!! and can lead to better decisions regarding health. I'm living proof of that. My son was diagnosed with Type one a couple of years back and we could never convince him to try the Dexcom that we bought for him right out of the gate. (he's on libre now for years). so I ended up putting it on myself and I truly learned a lot!! (I've been keto/keto-vor for exactly a year now at 56 years old and all six of my heart event risks have reversed! ALL SIX. and that's just from learning what foods actually do to me! (lost 40lbs and have kept it off for the entire year as well). CGMS should NOT require a dr's Prescription. I just got one a couple of months ago without a prescription from SaveRite (libre2).

So, our bodies can process glucose quickly, even if we are using ketones for energy, (Ketone adapted) and glucose does not linger in blood and goes right into our cells. So, switching from different sources of energy is easy to do for our bodies, and we don't have to be "adapted" to use different sources of energy. Right? Now, I have a question, if we eat fat and sugar together, can glucose monitor, recognize glucose attached to fat molecule in the blood? I wonder if you eat lots of fat and fruits at the same time, what would the monitor show? Also, if the reading is accurate, if monitor, cannot recognize the glucose that has attached to fat molecules or not?
