Very nice format and interesting scoring system. Never saw something like that on the other watch channels I follow. I subscribed and I’m looking forward to see more of these daily driver videos. I bought the watch for 300 bucks and I’m in love. Sometimes I just look at it for a minute and go on with what I have to do 😅

This watch basically spoilt the Panda dial .lol. It has taken over the panda ownership from Rolex. Everytime one sees 3 black dots on a white dial, they think its a Seiko. This is what happens when a sought after watch gets hoarded and jacked up in price and does not end up on people's wrists. And people who do bite the bullet and buy the Daytona end up not wearing them a lot to preserve the value. Hence , one can argue that the Panda dial now belongs to Seiko. lol.

It's funny because initially what drew me away from this watch was how inspired it was by the Daytona, like I thought it was just going to be another chronograph you know? But actually ended up really enjoying it 😁 interesting take though! Definitely would be interested in what other people have to say about that

Or like the Submariner. 90% are some Invicta/Pagani Design out there or some microbrand. From the remaining 10% 9.98% are fake Subs. You can simply consider anything that looks like a sub out there not to be a sub 😂

@@j5daniel182 exactly. This is the reason I tell everyone to buy a watch for themselves and not for others to “flex” on. Almost nobody cares about what you wear. Friends with gaudy Invictas and BOSS/ Police watches get a lot more compliments (meaning one compliment a year) than friends who are into horology with arguably nicer pieces (Longines, Omega, Breitling etc etc)

I just got one of these, and I love it. My biggest complaint's would be the bracelet not matching the case, but it's not that big of a deal, and the date not immediately switching over at 12. I don't know why Seiko can't make a date that doesn't take an hour to cycle over, my PRX clicks over right at 12.

1:19 wearing one of my white faced 6139 7100's right now and had my OG black face mechaquartz 6T63 00A0 on yesterday. A friend let my try on his similar NeoPogue a few months ago. Lovely thing and the solar power a is a really handy update which nullifies any arguments against quartz but its a weird hybrid of the a old and new speedies aesthetically and the date window placement is still a bit mental. Would love to see a proper rework of the 6139/8 family with modern underpinnings maintaining the simpler better balanced face that doesn't look at first glance like a Moonwatch or Daytona homage with the slightly daft slave 24h sub dial which would also be really cool if it was a jump hour GMT if it has to be there. Seiko is so much more than that.

@@DavidMartin-tk4fs OG 6139s amazing pieces to have in the collection 👍 I agree with you on the whole Daytona aspect as well. That's initially what drew me away from this watch in the first place. In fact, if it wasn't a solar quartz model, I probably wouldn't have pulled the trigger at all 😂 what do you think about the Seiko SRQ line? Seiko released it specifically with the intent of it being the 50th anniversary evolution of the original 6139. I guess you could say the solar quartz as well, but the srqs come with the column wheel and vertical clutch 8R series. I love the watch but not the price. I'd rather have the OG 6139 instead

@ yeah, the SRQ looks (I have only seen pictures) to be a massive step up in material quality and so it should for 6x the price of the mecaquartz range, amping up the vintage and almost dressy tool watch aesthetic which is just my thing and very very sexy. I get Omega/Zenith/IWC/Hanhart/Heuer vibes which seems completely appropriate given the history and if this was the intent the pricing is aggressive AF. I appreciate the deletion of the bottom dial with central date but the pushers are bit pronographic! Shame the bicompact arrangement is horizontal not vertical but I guess that would need a totally different movement architecture. Would love to see a bullhead variation too 😍 Oh edited to add: yes it is great the SRQ is a true column wheel and Vertical clutch and no doubt the magic fork too to keep the height down. It is a great set-up, first auto-chrono movement in space!, and mine it still fully functional after 53 years which is more than I can say for me at only 44!

4/5 on a bracelet with no on the fly adjustment, only two micro adjustments, pin and collar and conflicting brushing where the bracelet meets the case. That is far too generous. I’d have rated that part of the watch 2 or 3 max. Seiko often drops the ball on their bracelets and they need to be called out on it.

The anti-magnetism, I would imagine, is for the mechanical aspect of the chronograph seconds hand. It’s a mechanical chronograph hand slapped onto a quartz movement. Also, it is a ceramic bezel.

After wearing it for almost a year now, I would say the only problem is that the tachymeter bezel gets scratch pretty easy, and I dont think is possible to fix that. Other than that, great watch

I was contemplating this watch but decided to go with my other choice which is the Bulova Lunar Pilot panda colorway. The Bulova is accurate to 10 secs per year along with deep history as the 'other' moon watch, I couldn't pass it up. But the speedtimer in panda colors looks amazing as well.

I had to decide between this and the SSC911 - and I made a huge mistake. In almost all the videos and promotional photos, the SSC911 looks white. It's a tacky silver. Enjoy this, knowing you bought the right one!

Two totally different animals. Actually the speedtimer bracelet is a bit better, the clasp is shorter. Wears lighter and smaller than the 62 mas. Absolutely worth it to have them both, as one is a chrono the other is a diver. Both of the are keepers for me, although I am a huge fan of the cushion shape, as I have 5 turtles/willard/ tortoise.

I have the Pogue version SSC947. I have own it for a couple months. I first hesitated getting it since I do own a 6139-6005, which I am the original owner (got it in 1976). The 6139-6005 is still my "everyday driver" watch for almost 50 years. The re-interpretation is pretty good, but I do hope Seiko would come out with a real automatic version.
