I was finally able to experience a few things that have been on my bucket list! The first was being able to put one of my firewood logs on a sawmill and make some boards. Then we rounded out our vacation with a trip to Orlando to visit Harry Potter and then finished up with a total solar eclipse that was easily visible from home.
Thanks to Jeremy at Cairn Creek for helping me to save this white oak from the burn pile!
Check out ‪@CairnCreek‬ to see all the work being done on this property.
Also check into ‪@SpudRunGolf‬ if you want to learn more about America's favorite backyard golf hole!

I stumbled upon your KZbin channel about a year ago, and I’ve got to say I’m really grateful I did. You’re actually about an hour and a half west of me. Your channel is a breath of fresh air, showcasing the kind of pride, work ethic, and parenting that I think could really set the standard for what an All-American family looks like-it reminds me a lot of my own family growing up. I have been questioning if the All-American Family is gone for good……as someone who crosses our country a lot and sees a lot, it is not hard “to start believing” that the All-American Family roots and development are gone…..you and Kara give me hope!!! Keep being you and sharing these snapshots of your life with us. And a huge thanks to your wife and kids for their patience and for supporting you on this KZbin journey!

"Not really" I think was most people's honest experience with the eclipse. We got 89% of the sun covered here (north central Maryland) and it pretty much just looked like it was overcast rather than being actually dark. Cairn Creek looks awesome, I'm gonna have to check out those videos. And it's great to see you getting in some vacation time when the girls are young enough to appreciate it. My parents weren't big on vacations when I was growing up, but I have a photographic memory of the ones we did take, even decades later.

Neil… that white oak can make beautiful furniture, cabinets, boxes… you name it. Hopefully you can get it stored, stickered and the ends coated before it is too late. Put the least desirable boards toward the top and place weight on them to hold them flat. You can figure at least a year per inch of thickness to air dry, under roof, at ambient temperatures. Jeremy has a beautiful place… and it’s apparent he has the skill and determination to make it unique. We took our family pilgrimage to Disney on my oldest daughter’s 16th birthday. The younger one was 14. They rate it as their favorite family event. The youngest still has her Princess Dress… we accompanied them last year as her oldest daughter wore it back to Disney World. I have pictures showing both of them standing in front of the Magic Castle wearing the same dress… 27 years apart. Perhaps you too will get to see your grandchildren sharing timeless memories through the magic of Disney??? I attempted to video tape the eclipse with my GoPro. It wasn’t anything special… the only clip that I got worth sharing was my ‘Redneck Eclipse Camera Filter’ setup…. The same as yours…. Half a pair of paper glasses taped over the lens. Dad minds are pretty predictable. No? I’m glad you got to enjoy this little break. I’m sure your family will remember it fondly.

That brings back a lot of memories from our time in Florida. Ten years' worth and much of it became mundane for us. It reminds me of our granddaughters as we spent a lot of time with them at various attractions over the years. Every one of your videos brings something interesting to me but in this one you mentioned how they grew in front of your eyes and the sense of urgency you felt. Watching your girls grow and seeing their interest change with age. It seems to get harder to hold their interest with every passing day. I know what you're feeling. We went through it twice. With our daughters, and again with the granddaughters. But that little scene in the middle, around 13 minutes, may have been one of the best lessons you ever posted. Nice job.

My bathroom window ledge and shelves are made with bark edge planks that have been Pressure Treated (Tanalisation) from a Forestry 🙂 Maybe other suggestions of use can be a bookcase, table top, stool, chair, cabinet, mirror frame, bed frame, fencing etc. 🙂 Having the bark on the edge gives it a natural authentic appearance 🙂

Another great video!!! My maternal grandfather had a sawmill next to the house I grew up in, which he built... the crown molding throughout, one wall of the living room was intricate wood crafted panels, the floor was slate... he was very talented... he built several houses in a neighborhood where I live... built several boats as well... The clips of Universal and Disney Springs brought back memories for me going on vacation with my parents (as a twenty something year old because you're NEVER TOO OLD!!!) and also with my daughter... 😊😊😊

My girls, now 25 & 27, both live 6 hours away in different directions. I documented (videos/still photos) their growth and events at every turn, but there came a day they slammed on the brakes and refused to let me point the camera in their direction.
