@@styxthistle497 There are things that we all have that kind of blend into each other-like ticks, or quirks. Stimming is a thing that kind of manifests itself in all three areas. And yeah, OCD is super traumatic. It has been incredibly crippling at times for me. I'm lucky enough that my OCD is mostly managed with medications. But if my anxiety decides to do an extended stay in my brain, it can get overwhelming- not just for me, but my entire household. My sister also has OCD, and our anxieties kind of pick up on each other, and kickoff.. so it can become an intense feedback loop.

I know all the UK people are really having a tough time with the tories but let me tell you, as an autistic person living in Chicago I don't get therapy because it's way too expensive and when I DID have a therapist it made my mental health significantly worse because it ended up costing $900 for like 4 sessions. My current form of therapy is using noise cancelling headphones and CBD to calm myself down. I literally could not tell you if I want therapy again because any benefit I felt was overwhelmingly cancelled out by my extreme fear of spending all that money when I could get groceries. I'm also like, 90% sure that I have PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome) butttt it's like $300 for an exam and the worst it can cause is infertility, but I'm a lesbian/ace so like, it's fine

I tried to get therapy in the UK & the only kind they would let me do was group therapy even though I was asking for 1 on 1. Ended up having a massive meltdown at one of the sessions complete with SIB and as a result they referred me for an autism diagnosis. But once I got that in addition to my previous diagnosis of bipolar disorder, they weren't interested in helping at all. They said they understood that I'd need one on one due to being autistic, but that there wasn't any therapy for bipolar disorder that was 1 on 1 that was suitable in my area and certainly not without having first been stabilised on meds. But my autistic ass is hypersensitive to all meds. So had the bad if-you-keep-taking-this-you'll-die side effects on the lowest doses of everything they tried me on. I've been taking CBD oil for a few years now & its stabilised me wonderfully (previously rapid cycled even on the meds, now since taking it I've not had a single manic episode) but it can't be prescribed here as its just sold as a food supplement, so as far as the psychs are concerned, I'm not stabilised 🤦‍♀️. I've just had to get on with life hoping I can think my own way out of the trauma that led to my also having cPTSD. Its so frustrating because it really depends on where you live as to what help you get. Like the city I live in is large enough it has its own council so its own plan for healthcare. Just a few miles down the road you get into the county council & they provide the kind of help I need. But can't get referred there as they only take people from the county. I'll look up services in my area and it always asks which county, then its like "we serve xyz county, excluding the cities of blank & blank 2". Look up the cities and there's nothing. And its like great, perfect, just wonderful. Only option is private but I can't afford to go private as the only money I get is PIP & the amount I get per month would maybe cover a single session. Maybe.

Challenge idea: you should make an empty shell of a house knowing exactly which room is which (living room, kids room, bathroom #2). But when you start adding interior, you have to spin a wheel to decide which room that'll be (so living room can become bathroom, bathroom becomes dining room, hallway becomes kitchen)!

Yeah… it’s actually far more common than people realize, especially when it comes to diagnosing those who are afab. My dad wasn’t diagnosed until he was 38, but his case was strictly due to the fact that autism wasn’t nearly as researched in the 80s as it was in the 2010s. I (afab) was 14 at the time and sat in on one of his appointments because his therapist’s dog had just gone through surgery and she was in the office, so I brought her some toys. His therapist could tell I was autistic within the first fifteen minutes, and wrote it down. At the time, a minor required both parents’ consent for evaluation, and my mom never consented, so I never received therapy. I didn’t have enough money to see his therapist when I was experiencing burnout (we didn’t know, but he absolutely would’ve taken me on for free, which he did later). FOUR psychiatrists told me I could not possibly be autistic/ADHD because, “Females can’t be autistic/ADHD. It’s not in their genetics. You aren’t wired for that.” So, I didn’t get an official diagnosis for both autism and ADHD until I was 22, when his therapist took on my case. It’s also still common, in the field of psychiatry, to intentionally misdiagnose those who are afab with things not relating to ADHD and Autism, because they think telling them they’re either one would, “disrupt the flow of home life.” They literally aren’t telling them because they think it’ll keep them from being homemakers. As if not being properly treated for Autism and ADHD will go over so well when they don’t know how to manage a burnout episode. They’d rather someone who’s afab work themselves to the point of death than to give an actual diagnoses and help them manage it.

@@ScrewgeMcF_ck That is absolutely crazy! What I have heard and which I find true is that ADHD is hard to diagnose in girls and women because it manifests differently. I have ADHD, all my children have ADHD and their dad has ADHD. We all have different types of ADHD. Two of my boys have impulsive anger issues, the eldest boy cannot stay on task to save his life lol and my daughter and I can be very talkative. We all go to therapy to address our symptoms. My eldest two boys take meds and my youngest two are not as severe so they just go through therapy and I try to find coping mechanisms to help with their various diagnoses. I am not on meds mainly because I am on meds for other mental issues. They wanted me to go on ADHD meds but I’m like I’m good with all the side effects that I have to deal with now. Lol. It’s hard already to function in this world, we don’t need someone who’s sole job to help us navigate it all tell us that what we have doesn’t exist. It makes no sense ESPECIALLY when we as a society know very little of how the brain works. In my eyes, it’s the final frontier lol. Though I am glad that you eventually got help. Lord knows you had a time going through it before you did and I am also grateful that your father’s therapist took you on. Legit one less headache when looking for one. Wish your all the best. i’m really glad to hear about you getting therapy. your rant about healthcare is so true. i’m from canada and our healthcare is free but the system is just so broken as ontario is continuing to privatize healthcare. for the past 7 years i have been really struggling with my severe scoliosis. because of the backlog from the pandemic and the lack of doctors in province, i waited two years for a consultation with a surgeon. when i finally got to the appointment he talked with me for 10 minutes just to say he is going to refuse to do my surgery and transfer my case to the states. his reason: surgeons are not being paid enough so if they transfer enough cases to the states, the government will get frustrated with paperwork and raise their salaries. anyways so the paperwork gets sent off for a transfer case and then i get notice months later that because there are eligible surgeons in my province that can technically do the surgery they will not transfer my case because my condition isn’t “life threatening.” the mental breakdown i had because of that probably was the most painful thing i have ever experienced. i can’t walk sometimes, i can’t go out with my friends sometimes, i can’t play sports anymore because of how bad my back pain is from the scoliosis. being told that by the government sort of just felt like my last straw after being used as a political tool by these surgeons. my only option at this point would be to find a new surgeon but i don’t want to wait another two years for a consultation y’know. it really just makes ya feel like you are a burden on the medical system and i know that’s true because canada is rolling out medically assisted dying to people on the basis of mental illnesses now. can you even imagine the disconcern for human life that instead of giving people help they need to become better you can just say “have you considered medically assisted death?” it’s fucking insane. i’m honestly surprised a doctor hasn’t suggested it to me yet seeing as scoliosis is a progressive disability.

I would die to see Plumbella do a Sims 4 Kitchen Nightmares Let's Play (build an atrocious restaurant that is failing, and bring in a Gordon Ramsay sim to yell at everyone until the restaurant does better.) Rules: Make 1 sim family, with at least 2 adult sims deluded into thinking their restaurant is bussin (having a 3rd adult be a voice of reason that Gordon likes is optional, but a fun option) 1-must make the restaurant the lowest rating possible before beginning the challenge in earnest. 2- the sims have to essentially Live at the restaurant. You may build an apartment upstairs/in the basement of the restaurant lot for the family to stay in for the challenge. 3- Gordon is allowed to be in the household, but for relationships sake have him move in after the restaurant has had some (bad) business. Preferably, he shows up on his own to eat at the restaurant as an NCP and is so unimpressed he moves in to fix it. 4-challenge doesn't end just because someone dies. Unless it is Gordon Ramsay. If he dies, the restaurant must close and the challenge is failed. 5- challenge is won by getting the restaurant to at least 3 stars. 6- sometime after Gordon moves in but before hitting 3 stars, the restaurant needs a Makeover

I never usually comment but it’s been a rough few weeks for me but hearing this really helped💕 also just an fyi for anyone else reading, but both neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD and AS can occur with mood disorders such as BPD and OCD. There’s also a lot of similarities between ADHD, OCD, autism and other anxiety disorders. With all that combined (at least in my experience) it’s kinda a process of trial and error and figuring out what works best for you (meds, therapy approachs, etc.). Then I've asked my friends because I've questioned it for a while if I possibly have OCD and they were instantly like YES. I still have to talk about that with someone because I was cut off when trying to talk about it. Then 2 years ago I found out I'm also autistic (still waiting to be evaluated (my psychiatrist did give me a link to help me get an evaluation) but I also study this in school like I'm a psychology major and autism does run in my family). Get that free therapy, babe! 👏 I know it’s so frustrating to have to be on a waiting list for that. I live in the U.S. & I’m grateful to be able to have free Medicaid. But there’s budget cuts happening all the time & the wait times for appointments are longer & longer. 😿 So I feel for anyone in the similar boat. I just started my new therapist on Friday. 🤗 Love this build btw! Good vibes to y’all. 🖤

Really appreciate you talking about your mental health and how you're working through it. It's not easy and sometimes switching therapists can be one of the best things for you. I see mine periodically, but while he's good for some objective context and validation when he listens to me, he doesn't really provide any active help to manage my various things. Not sure if it's ADHD, OCD, some spectrum of Autism, or a combination of all three.

They do! As do autism and ADHD/OCD, dyslexia and ADHD/autism/OCD, etc. Multiple neurodivergencies are relatively common.

They can, yes. They also exhibit a lot of the same behavioral patterns (same thing with autism and ADHD) so oftentimes get misdiagnosed.

Jesse, I really recommend laying out your rooms in a 3d program (not just sims) where you can set where the sun will come into windows from. I was remodeling and really thought I had a great idea for my bathroom. But after I laid out the room based on real measurements and windows size and sun placement, I found out that my idea didn't work for THAT particular space 🙈 So I redid the design like 5 times until it finally looked good in the specific space. And had that done irl and it's so cozy in there! Can't imagine how unhappy I'd be if I went with my original (objectively good) idea 😅

I've got diagnosed ADHD and I suspect I also might be on the autistic spectrum somewhere, but at the moment the pros don't weigh up the cons trying to chase that. I don't know enough about OCD, but my ADHD-tingle definitely tingles on your videos. I also fully support what NHS is *supposed to be*, however sadly it is not that. I grew up in a different country, but have lived here for the past 10 and the difference is mindblowing. I've been let down by NHS about 9/10 of all my concerns including my mental health saga. Just to narrow it to ADHD, they 'lost' my referral twice, referred me to the wrong place once, and I have officially been on a waiting list (in this country) since October 2021. From what I understand the process of diagnosing is one 30-min meeting with one doctor and if you're 'lucky enough' for them to agree, you may get given meds which you have 2 chances to adjust. From what I understand, for many people, it takes a lot longer than that. GPs are totally untrained in it, so will not be able to help you after that. In comparison, I had two meetings with a pshychiatrist (one to refer for diagnostics, the other to confirm the diagnosis and prescribe medication), one in between with a Mental Health Nurse (who did a diagnostic questionnaire with me, though some places also use more test-like testing additionally as well) and one afterward with a counsellor to discuss everything. I ended up doing it private abroad, but this was the set package. I wish you all the luck in your journey, but brace yourself for it to be long. If you can, go private. I know, I know, it's kind of feeding the problem, but the NHS is on its knees with everything, particularly mental health, so another way of looking at it is trying to take the pressure off of NHS/not letting issues evolve to worse and thus more time consuming. I also actually haven't started taking my meds yet, but my MH has improved tenfold by just having a diagnosis, or as you said, an explanation and the 'ah yes, you're doing that thing now'.

Ok build challenge idea: build a house with each room is a based on a random object but this is how you pick. Choose the most important furniture piece in the room (kitchen is counters, living room is couch, bedroom is bed etc) and within that items catalogue you random a number to pick which one you use, then randomize the number of which swatch then the rest of that room has to be based on that one item and swatch

There is an emerging theory of an “overcontrolled” spectrum in psychology and counseling which groups certain behavioral tendencies and patterns together and there is a really fascinating therapy for that spectrum (including ASD, OCD, treatment resistant depression, some EDs…) called RO-DBT. I never disliked therapy before, but I never felt so understood as a person with these tendencies before trying this kind of therapy. It was genuinely fun and liberating to go through at times. The theory at least is worth checking out! Thank you so much for being so open about your experiences! ❤
