Every thing is energy. I cleared old files, photoes, books l knew l would never read. Clothes l swore would fit. Art clutter from walls. Swedish death cleaning at 64. I can breath.

Really good advice! I have a lot of items that represent my past bad experiences or people I did not love or even like. Out of duty I have kept many family heirlooms in storage. They never served ME. Im going to let them go. Thank you!

I'm a magazine copy editor, and I've kept a copy of every magazine I've ever worked on. They now take up three long shelves in my attic. Some of the magazines were emotionally draining to work on, but I still can't bring myself to pitch them. I've been trying to make time to scan the covers and mastheads so that I can get them out of my life, but I just can't motivate myself.

I hear you, it can be especially challenging to let go of identity clutter that we associate with a lot of hard work. Decluttering such things can feel as if we devalued our own creations and the time and effort that went into creating them. However, we don't. Here's a shift in perspective: By decluttering what doesn't serve us anymore, we value what does. We value our time and space now, the stage of life we are in now. Good luck!

In my 59 years, when I follow my wordless gut instincts, things usually turn out much better than when I try to "make myself" do something others are suggesting. I am saying that it sounds like you want to save them. You can redecide at any time. If you keep them, you still have the choice!

New subscriber here! I watched this video three times over the past week, as identity clutter is exactly what I'm dealing with at this point in my life. Clarity is my word for 2023, and it's something you touched on at the end of the video, very succinctly. After several hours decluttering yesterday with the idea of moving forward to a new chapter of my life, and an updated identity, I was able to declutter even more (it's been an ongoing process for me) to the point where I feel really good about what I'm 'packing' (both literally and figuratively) for the next part of my journey.

This is really good, and I wasn't expecting it to be about what it's actually about. Thank you!!🤗

1:08 mental identity clutter is related to outdated thought patterns and mindset that don't serve us anymore. it can hinder us from moving forwards, because it keeps part of our identity configuration situated in the past. 3:33 physical identity clutter comes in the form of objects and things that we associate meaning and memories with. they serve us well at the certain point in the past. However,we might keep these things beyond their mental expiration date. solution: 6:53 step 1: identifying the identify clutter in the first place. Ask yourself some questions, which old mindset am I still clinging to that do not serve me anymore? 7:15 step 2:evaluate the mental and physical identity clutter that you've identified. 7:47 step 3: make a decision about your identity clutter, you want to keep it or toss it?

It's weird: I have no problem letting go/selling off antiques, jewelry, clothes, shoes, etc, but when it comes to my books & DVDs it's like pulling teeth. I hear that's how some new bookstores get started...😅

Yearbooks! I feel guilty considering throwing them away but I haven’t even wanted to look at them in decades. I imagine that in the future I might want to review them with my kids but they take up so much space. 😣

A little spooky that this came up, as I just now pulled out a tote of old letters/photos and it's proven difficult to let go of things. So far I've kept about 20 and pitched 4.
