Kids don’t have to be expensive at all. Remember that time is important too. And try to pick a job/field that allows you to have lots of free time while also make a decent income. We have 4 kids under 7 currently and doing it on my one income. My husband is an engineer so a decent income while working only 40 hrs a week. I stay home and we live pretty modest. I might not bring in money but I save a ton. Make food from scratch, look for the best deals and sales. We don’t go out much to restaurants or vacations, but there is so much to do for free or very low price. The immense joy that our little family brings is incredible!

Do me a favor. Ask your friends, that have children, a question. Phrase it like this, " my sister(brother) is undecided if they are going to put their kids on prescription medication for mental issues. Do you know if they work ? " Parents may share with you. Kids today are having mental issues to a greater degree. Like a third of kids/teenagers are some sort of mental Rx medications. The more kids you have, the more the chances of producing a doctor/engineer/entrepreneur. How your kid grows up is a reflection of the time you put into that kid. Now, just because they’re not successful financially, or don’t have huge aspirations doesn’t make them any less of a person. Everything is a risk is not a good argument for getting married or having kids, because the type of risk and the level of risk are different from anything else. Losing expendable income on an investment, for example, is not the same thing as having your wife cheat on you, take your children, and take at least half your money. For the overwhelming majority of people, being married and having a family can be more fulfilling than anything else you can experience, but it can also completely and irreversibly ruin your life. It requires a massive amount of preparation and constant maintenance. It's dishonest, dismissive, and dangerous to tell men to "Just do it bro, everything in life is a gamble."
@pmh1nic
@pmh1nic 2 жыл бұрын
I think you’re taking his comment simplistically. The point he was trying to make was there are no guarantees in life. Every decision you make has risk. You can mitigate some of that risk with preparation but when it comes to raising kids all the preparation in the world may not guarantee the desired result.
@andresgreene4913
@andresgreene4913 2 жыл бұрын
@@pmh1nic TL;DR My argument isn't simplistic, on this issue, PBD's is, because it doesn't take into account the extent of the possible damage, or the necessary preventative measures and maintenance that are required specifically to have a good family life as an American man in the 21st century. --Divorce rates are around 50%. No fault divorce makes it very easy to get divorced, and women initiate 2/3 of divorces. A woman with bad intentions is actually incentivized to end a marriage. --Primary custody is given to mothers 85% of the time, which means child support is also paid to them. In some states, even if there's 50/50 custody, a man will still have to pay child support. Child support payments are not based on demonstrated or pre-established numbers, but by a statutory (at the state level) income-based calculator. You can also have a child support rate based on a salary you don't make, but based on the "prevailing wage". The idea was to prevent a parent from quitting a job or leaving an industry to avoid payment, but if you lose a job or you work in a non-traditional job with varying pay rates, an estimate will be made based on the average for someone in that industry and occupation with similar qualifications, or based on you prior earnings. The use of child support payments is also almost never monitored, which means they can be spent on anything. -You can have your professional licenses revoked for not paying child support. You can have your passport suspended for not paying child support. You can have your checks garnished as back pay for child support. You can be put in jail for not paying child support. - Because of the legal presumption of paternity of a child born in wedlock, a man can be forced to pay child support for a child that isn't his. It also means a man who does want rights for his child who was conceived before or a marriage, or perhaps during a legal separation, but born during a marriage has to have a judge legally designate him as the father, and a DNA test doesn't guarantee legal paternity if it's not in the "best interest" of the child. -Unmarried mothers can also just list a random man's name on a birth certificate, and a judge can legally determine paternity without the listed man even being present in court. The man could be in another state or a even different country, but as soon as goes to that state, BOOM. He has to now prove he's not the father. -Alimony is paid to women in 97% of cases. Some states will take cheating into account when determining the amount if any. You don't even have to be married to have make regular payments either, "palimony" can be awarded to women you lived with. Women have also been paid for engagements being broken off. --It's possible for a man to have to make child support payments into the 20s of a child that was conceived from infidelity, while he makes lifelong payment to his ex-wife, that pay for her and HER child's bio-father to live in his house because she refuses to get remarried. For many men "lifelong" isn't very long under those circumstances. So no, my argument is not simplistic PBD's argument about the risk of marriage and kids, which is what I was referring to, is simplistic. He made the same argument when he spoke to Fresh and Fit. Financial investment was actually one of the examples he gave in that discussion. The specific risk profile of a particular action or decision is what matters. "Nothing in life is guaranteed" is excruciatingly inadequate in even beginning to address the comprehensive destruction of a man's welfare, up to and including his very life, that can result from becoming a victim of a malevolent woman and or the family court system, and the legal system generally to be honest.

Some good points raised here, although I will maintain that there are no unselfish reasons for having kids. That aside, maybe we should first look at all of the caveats involved with having just one child, especially for those who stand the most to lose in family court (which I'm not supposed to say, but I will anyway).

If I have children I won't be able to afford to do anything else. The wife and I have decided to trade the experience of being a parent for ALL the other experiences that being poor parent stops you from having. Perhaps when BTC goes to a million we will adopt.

@@bighands69 Na, who are you to say that’s what a persons legacy is?? So one could have kids that become unproductive members of society and that’s their legacy? As opposed to a talent/skill and work one does to leave behind their mark on the world that enables other humans to be better. Kids may not be for everyone. I believe many just follow the narrative society has set for them and then try to justify their decisions as opposed to others who actually take time to think through their decisions and make their own way through the world.

Knowing what women deal with and risk during pregnancy (fatigue, teeth loss, back problems, gestational diabetes, back problems, hypertension, pre-eclampsia, vaginal tears, shattered pelvic floor), I wouldn't want to get a woman pregnant because I wouldn't want to be pregnant. It doesn’t matter that humans have done it for eons. I wouldn't want to undergo that kind of torture and I wouldn't want to put a woman through that kind of torture.

Laughable argument from Patrick: "if you have the money, then have kids, if not, have at least FIVE to play the odds..." Interesting that the video discusses "having kids" as for the sake reproduction, but he does not discuss FATHERING. What about FATHERING these same five, ten, twenty kids?? It is clear to see his "reproduce irresponsibly" agenda.

Not with you on this one Patrick. Are you kidding me, bring a kid/kids into this hellhole of a Planet filled with caos, and the ever present danger of a WW3. Not for me man I've wouldn't bring a human into this Planet... All this misery, litany of problems facing humanity, To me that would be cruel furthermore I don't think life is not all that people make it out to be... Overrated and then some, and it's not really all about having more financial freedom, overall not impressed by the way life is super hyped. For one good thing that happens to you there are so many more crappy ones that come your way. Another human bull crap about all this I hear life's short, it goes by so quickly and buddy I'm 53 and I feel that I've been around for much, much more than my age. It's being an Eternity for me. Overrated, nothing espectacular about it and make another human through this chaotic world no way, no how. Convince me of why life it's so gran, what's so fabulous about it. The more I live the more I feel this way. Not the big shit people make it out to be. But try me, convince me PBD, or anyone for that matter.
