WARNING!! I bought a sink just like yours thought it would make a good dog washing station. Now My story: filled with some water then picked my 30 pound dog to set her in, that’s when the cheap legs folded in on me I’m on top of the dog and she’s kicking and yelping water everywhere. That’s when I built a 2x4 frame for sink and got rid of the metal leg. Now I’m loving the setup the dog is not so much.

Second time replying, but Elles has it RIGHT!!! Great for an addition to your merchandise. I was also thinking the adding some Pig Iron bracing would help for bracing the water tank; either inside or outside for the wood legs. I would also add a tank basin under the tank in case of an accidental puncture, similar to a hot water tank basin, to prevent water going all over the place. Also wondering about waste water collection and how you would dispose of it, especially if contaminated. As a note, I've been watching since you started the Barn in the Spring and look forward for each video. Wednesday's and Sunday's are my days to watch a previous videos of your march to be self sustaining for you and your family. Hey Al! I was thinking why not use the loft for the tank. And heat rises so you would ensure it stays warmer up there. You would definitely get a lot more pressure that way.. I think the way you have it will work from the weight of the water. But one the tank gets below a certain point you won’t have as much pressure. Don’t know what that will equate to. But it will be interesting to see.
@bobchiro15 жыл бұрын
Al, when I visited Ireland a few years ago, I noticed that some of the sheep in the fields had colored areas on their rumps. The tour guide told us that powdered colored chalk was rubbed on the males abdomen and chest and when they “visited” the females, evidence was left on the females back! They used a different colored chalk on each male. Powdered chalk line chalk I guess. Maybe that will help to let you know if they got together when you weren’t watching.

@python35745 жыл бұрын
I have almost an identical water setup in my pole barn, except it is fed from a spring. Just an FYI, you should probably get a water heater pan to put under the tank because if you have any humidity during warmer months that tank is going to sweat so much youre gonna think it has a leak. It will soak the boards it is sitting on and they will eventually rot. The water heater pan can be plumbed to drain right into the sink very easily. I also put a piece of shower pan liner on top of the platform to keep any moisture from getting to the wood stand. Home Depot sells it by the foot off an open roll... and it’s cheap.

A section of clear PVC hose on a barbed fitting from the output of the tank will act as a sight glass letting you see the amount of water in the tank. If there is not enough pressure from the height you can always pickup a foot pump made for boats to pull water from the tank and pump it to the faucet without needing an electric pump. Any thoughts on turning some of the scrap lumber around the property into a lumber storage rack? Start collecting all the left over after a project or used but still good wood and placed in a central easy to sort location. With some extra roofing metal you can even stick it to the outside of a shed

Since your well water is so far from the barns. You may want to get a old trailer made from a pickup truck bed and put a 275 gal IBC tote in it with a small battery or gas pump. That way you can use the Kabota to move water to barrels in the different pens and pastures. It you put a float shutoff valve in the top of it you can back up to the house faucet and connect the garden hose and start it to fill and went it gets topped off it will shut itself off with you having to stand there and watch it fill.
