+IconicSchmoobie i usually operate under the assumption that companies want to grow in their business, and to do that you need more money. if i wanted to take a HUGE risk making/publishing a game that could either become the next classic or the worst sales bomb my company has ever taken, i would want to have the money to cover my ass should the game actually sink. that way, my company isnt in danger of going under with the game. the money has to come from somewhere, you know? and sometimes making cuts in the business just isnt feasible. add that on top of possible business expansion (and the ever-increasing costs of that venture), employee costs, and keeping up with competition, you're going to need to find the money from somewhere. plus, the whole point of a business is to make a profit! i dont blame any business for trying to increase the money coming in. i just start getting antsy when a company sacrifices customer/employee loyalty and their good name in the name of profit.

***** Because they always do. The bigger a company gets, the less it cares about customers. It's all just more, more, more. I work in a hardware store which is part of a huge chain. The mother company keeps sending us all kinds of crap we didn't order, going like "you have to pay for it, we don't care if you actually sell it.". Now they're complaining that we have too many different items in our store, which we can't do anything about because we didn't fucking order them and nobody wants them. They have a whole fucking crew dedicated to analyzing our numbers and judging us, we recently got a warning that we had to stop opening the cash register too much. They don't like it when we open the cash register apparently. Fucking bureaucracy bullshit, you'd think it'd be a non-issue as long as all the cash is there at the end of the day but nope. Now I have to tell customers they can't pay with their 500 bill because I don't know how much change I have in the register and I can't fucking open it before I've pressed the "cash" button which means the machine thinks the purchase is complete. All because these paper pushing cunts are concerned with a meaningless number. That's what happens when companies get large. Everything is impersonal, bureaucracy bullshit everywhere and the only thing that matters is the bottom line. Fuck the customers, fuck the employees, as long as they can report a profit next year they don't give two shits.

The thing about dota2 and tf2 user made content is that you can still earn it while playing, they're just collectables. Many Skyrim mods can dramatically effect or outright change the game you play creating a completely different experience.

That's not even the main thing. See, TF2 paid-content (not familiar with DOTA or CS:S) are essentially free maps or craftable/droppable 3d models. Maps are relatively simple to test, while the models simply have to plug into the animations or cosmetic slots. I think part of the workshop qualification for weapons and hats it to stick them through a quality-testing program for compatibility. Almost all of which can be gotten through regular gameplay on a P2P account. Bethesda mods, on the other hand... Scratch that. Bethesda _games,_ on the other hand, are so big and unstable that mods have a very good chance of cocking stuff up. When you add money into something like that, it becomes a gamble.

Guns drop for free, plus the stock guns are universally considered the best (with very few exceptions). Trade and crafting basically fall into the cosmetics category, unless you are trading/crafting a gun, but as mentioned before, stock guns are usually the best and you can get other guns as free drops anyway.

What is Gabe going to do when he is sitting in a bed knowing he is about to die and the thought that he never made half life 3 is going through his brain and he dies knowing that he will leave the gaming industry in disappointed and he will be remembered for leaving the gaming industry in disappointed. The idea itself was very good. Imagine if the most talented modders could work on their projects full time! They could keep old or basic versions free. How this was implemented was what failed. Low quality mods and big letters saying developers only get 25% ? None of the mods were worth it. It's a shame that the backslash they got from the community (many non-skyrim players too) might mean they will never try something like this again.

Gaming Wildlife can you tell Gaben to remove the fact you can hook onto people with the grapples in the new beta mannpower gamemode? For some reason everytime i try to hook onto someone else it doesnt work and when they try it does work... that just makes me not wanna play it but its my most favourite gamemode...
