I just turned 50 and my goals are to get under 2:55 at Boston and under 2:50 in Chicago this year. It's inspiring to follow someone on a similar journey, even if you're a bit faster.

How was Boston?

@@run4one 2:59:35. Had to dial it back due to how warm it was.

That’s great that you went under 3 though. Sub 2:50 in Chicago still on the cards!

Wise words. I'm 62 and still race often from 5k to 50k. You do slow down but not as much as you think if you keep training. In longer races I'm actually a little faster in my 60's than 55 to 59. I have a little more time to train. I'm just very grateful I can get out the door almost everyday for a run. It is a gift.

Love this comment!!! Thank you. It definitely is a gift. One of my friends has had a hip replacement before 50 so you can never take it for granted.

Good news that you're getting straight back on it. Having targets is what makes us proper runners (imho). Hope the build -up goes well...with good health, no reason why you can't smash a 2:30-something 👍🤞

Thank you!!!! It’s a fine line between giving it all and not getting injured! (When isn’t it?!)

I'm 50 for about a year now, last year with already 50 made 2H54 in Chicago, this year made 2H57 in Sevilla and 2 months latter 2H58 in Boston, my goal is 2H45 in Berlin this year in September, do you have an excel with you sub 2H30 plan that you can share? Started the training block this week, made a double session yesterday 10x1min AM + 20min Tempo PM, really liked this kind of sessions, they are shorted but in the end the quality training is there...

Great work on your times! Those are super consistent! Well done!! I take my training plan from the book “You - only faster” by Greg McMillan. The whole plan is set out in there and I highly recommend it! That is a classic double threshold session! A nice gentle intro to both. That’s actually exactly the session I plan on doing tomorrow funnily enough.
