I thought that aswell but its legal. Warstorm surge reads: Whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control, it deals damage equal to its power to any target. So the creature deals the damage and it was a green rhino.

After the Brago flicker, everything should have been detained from Lavinia so the lit greaves would be unable to be equipped, preventing 6 damage from combat and 4 damage from warstorm surge.

the commander is CMC 5, so it was not detained. But the greaves could not be used, preventing 4 combat damage. However the populate, surge and the populated attacking rhino still all work.

@@pleravens the commander was played that turn so it wasn't in play to be detained on the Livinia trigger regardless of CMC. Lynch could have blocked too which I don't know why he didn't. To wrest control of the monarch the populated token would have had to attack Lynch, and sky would have taken 4 less damage, however the Warstorm Surge could have targeted Sky's face instead.

Yeah, they also forgot lavinia has protection from red so it couldn't be killed by warstorm surge (and can safely block Ghired/Narset etc. though that wasn't as important)

It is pretty strong out of the gates. Hitting for 6 free spells is pretty good. I think the deck needs things like counterspells, Teferi's protection or the blue phasing spells because it's very vulnerable to damage and boardwipes.

Am I the only one who noticed they made a deal, and then it was forgotten immediately, as Rafeal started removing Skylar's angels and attacked him right away...? Or did they break the deal and it got edited out...? Also, Lavinia's ETB detainment was completely forgotten about. At the end of Rafeal's turn, Randy shouldn't have been able to use his Sol Ring, nor on the next turn. Cephalid Facetaker also should not have been able to attack (four cards looked at and/or cast). On Skylar's turn he shouldn't have been able to use his Mana Crypt, but that was a nonfactor overall.

Not entirely sure if Sky had an illegal card in his deck, or if the wrong image was used Around the 16 min mark, he plays (according to the image on screen) a UB Talisman. So either the art prompt was wrong and it was one of the Jeskai colored ones, or Sky was playing with an illegal deck (technically, didn't change the outcome but still note worthy)

There was a misplay around 46 min when Brago triggered and flickered Lavina of the Tenth. The next turn the lightning greaves should not have been able to be put on the rhino. Then also warstorm surge couldn't deal the damage to kill Lavinaia because of pro red.

I love my Narset Vehicles deck. When WotC came out with NEO, she got a nice couple of upgrades. I love the deck because I love cheating out vehicles and crewing vehicles with other vehicles and because it's a beat face deck with no infinite combos/attacks/turns.

Angels. Angels. "... that's an angel, and that's an angel." "So, those are my angels." Last time I looked skyward...ANGELS were creatures. Lol 😄 Many years ago, I had the idea to create a non-creature deck. I had never heard of anyone doing such a thing before, but the idea was there. It was a few years later, that I came across a couple of old cards, that truly inspired me to finally create a non-creature deck. As it happens, it was mono-black. Obviously...the Commander...is a creature; although in The 99...there are no creatures. The deck (aside from the Commander which is 95% of the time, never even played)...the deck does not cast creatures, does not steal creatures from the battlefield or graveyard, and it does not produce tokens. It is a Truly Non-creature deck. I really only play casual Commander. But, of my 35 Commander decks (all of which I have played with and against)...my non-creature deck is the ONE deck I HATE playing against. In a friendly casual 4 player game, I had a friend concede on turn one, the others on turn 3. For fun, at my lgs...I played against a Cedh deck, which (I was warned...), potentially wins on turn 2. Thassa's Oracle. The dude was arrogant as hell. He never even introduced himself in return. On turn one, he played Ragavan. On my turn one...Ragavan died. What!? Seriously!? What card is that? Seriously?? We don't use cards like that in competitive edh! This is bs! I should just quit... I'm just gonna ------- lose. - He said. The whole game...dude was crying about how he should just quit, and Cedh doesn't use cards like the ones I used. And while he did just barely squeak out the win (on turn 11)...he was still plenty butt-hurt. Obviously, I never bothered to ask him to play a game again. His buddy however, was a cool dude, and like myself, liked to play with a competitive spirit, but ultimately played for fun. All in all though...if you're gonna call something a "No Creature" deck (yeah, I get what he meant...casting, not generating)...go for gusto bro...and make it a purely non-creature deck. Cheers! 🤪

It was blocked, when a creature doesn’t have trample and the first hit of double strike kills the creature the second hit does not hit anything therefore no life is gained. Kind of a confusing rule
