I had a dark blue 82 Z28. I thought I was the sh*t LOL. Those t-tops on a warm Texas summer night were amazing. Those same t-tops on a hot Texas summer day...not so amazing. I have a lot of great memories in that car. At some point I changed out the rear end gears (I can't remember to what) but it was for more off the line speed. Which, made it not so good when cruising at highway speeds for long distances. It was AFTER I installed these gears that I drove it to Detroit from Dallas to help my then soon-to-be wife move to Texas with me. We pulled a U-Haul trailer with that car all the way from Detroit to Dallas...the car was never the same after that. I wonder why. LOL It was worth it tho...I've been with my wife for 35 years now...the car (and requisite mullet) didn't scare her away, thank goodness!

These cars were definitely way ahead of their time design wise. It's so cool to see original promotional video on them from back then. I love my 1984 Z28 with the 5 speed. It's been in my family since 2001 when I was only 7 years old. It's not going anywhere.

I agree, not because I had one in the 80s or even the 84 I have today. A couple of things that should be mentioned, what made them so popular at the time was the fact that the 3rd gen Camaro Z28 turned out to be one of the best looking cars at the time along with the T/A, imagine how they looked next to the 5 & 10-year-old cars that were on the road back then, and even the other new cars.

This body design was the ugliest camaro ever , 1972 and older looked 1000 times better . Hell the 2019 camaro looks better then the 80's and 90's and this is coming from someone that graduated in "85" that loves vehicles plus I'm a Chevy man .

Yes , the doors closing sounded like heavy garbage can lids, but my 84 Z28 5.O. H.O. with a modified valve body transmission was not slow. And I bought that car in 1990. Had 134,000 miles on it when I sold and shipped it from Florida to my brother in Minnesota after owning it 9 years! Never a problem , that car was bulletproof. My bro put another 46,000 miles on it . Until the police confiscated it for too many speeding tickets. Yeah 😑

I snagged an 84 Z28 H.O . 10 years ago, still driving it. It really is a good running car, instead of worrying about hotroding it to death I decided to clean everything up that needed restoring. I did a few easy performance upgrades like a free flowing exhaust and tossed the smog stuff in the trash. The H.O. cars have a 373 rear that's a litte much for the highway with an automatic transmission, should have only come with 5 speeds, I now have a 9 bolt 3.27 gear that's a lot better IMO.

All California 1982 Engines lacked power. One could in 1982 "move up" to the 2.8 L V6 and gain 12 HP at the flywheel, less at the wheels! When I bought my 82 Camaro in California none of the engines were powerful. Only the I4 could have a manual transmission, all could have an automatic. The California HP in July 82 was like 90 HP for the 2.5L I4 and 102 for the V6 an 135 HP for the V8 . The 4 cylinder had the highest HP per Liter of displacement. If the V8 had the same then the V8 HP would be 180 instead of 135. lol An earlier mid 1970's I6 had the Least HP per weigh of the Camaro and is the worst Joke as far as acceleration

My older brother used to drive a 1982 Z28 from 1989 to 1995. Every now and then I would take a drive in it. It had a 4 speed manual. That clutch was manual, I think. The doors were so long and heavy it was like stepping into a bank vault. Also, the sitting position was almost recumbent. But the most memorable thing was that horribly stiff and rattly ride. I was like driving a shopping cart.

If we did and had seen this video with corny wording " sporty what ever " and the pushing of the tiny spare tire and 85 mph speed ohmeter I would not had got one. GM had to push everything they could because these things where built cheap and they where slow. My 2012 V6 camaro I have new can run circles around my old 1985 Z28
