Actually, 10 days before he was shot, he said that he wanted to do a one night only show with Paul, George, and Ringo, called "The Long And Winding Road", where they'd play songs they never got to perform live. I would've happened sometime in 82'. He also expressed many times he wouldn't mind getting back in a studio with them at least just for one last time. Not only those two, but Paul, George, and Ringo all agreed that if John was alive in 1986, the Beatles would of most likely reunited again to play at Live Aid, instead of Paul being the only one to show up. We would have had multiple Beatles reunions on and off, til the early 2000's, if he hadn't of been shot.

Big fan of Lennon's back in the day. I remember my household as having the only BIG screen tv in the neighborhood and all the girls would drop in to watch the Ed Sullivan Show on Sunday nights. I, as a 3 year old, remember fondly to this very day, as clear as if it was last night, asking the girls: What are you watching?" and the reply was "The Beatles", I was an instant fan. Good memories. Angelo di Caprio, thank you for imagining, it was/is a very touching video. :)

I think what is often ignored about John Lennon is that despite his talent he was a deeply troubled human being but he used his suffering as a way of making great music. Here was a man who at 5 years old lost his mother and father and then had the misfortune of being brought by a dragon ie Aunt Mimi also we know that his uncle George was not a strong father figure and I think this is what led to much of Lennon's delinquency and violence and indeed abandoning his first marriage. I note in your montage how after Lennon married Yoko his appearance changed completely. Indeed John Lennon up until circa late 1967 was quite handsome and healthy looking, after the death of Brian Epstein and getting with Yoko he lost alot of weight and he developed a more ragged appearance. I think what is sad really is that had John Lennon never been rich or famous, had he been a lesser known musician or even a solo singer he would have written far better songs and he would have been able to explore many other different genres of music, also by being rich he was able to support his damaging drug addiction whereas had he been less well off he would have gotten help with his addiction and ultimately written far more and far better songs. What is undeniable is that Lennon was a deeply damaged person and he needed therapy not drugs to deal with those problems.

Barry O'Sullivan yep...heroin is a helluva drug. Would love to know what was in his blood from the autopsy. I have experience in this and he looks like he got on heroin after he met a Yoko, 1968, which he admits to, even writing ‘cold turkey’. I think he did get off but went through stages of being clean and using. I think the last 1-3 years of his life he was an habitual user. Maybe with breaks, but on it more than off. But that’s my opinion based on what I’ve seen, read and experienced 20 odd friends and close acquaintances go through and seeing the similarities from ones who died, ones who stayed on it for years, ones who took breaks in rehab and ones who got clean...the whole gamut of experiences different heroin addicts go through, the one I chose is the most likely.

When I was like 8 years old I used to write letters to John and give them to my mum so she could send them to him. When I was 10 we moved to another city. While moving, I found a box filled with my letters. I can't express how broken I was. Soon after,I found out about his death. Missing him dearly since then. The only thing that makes me happy is thinking he's somewhere up there, at a better place watching us. He wouldn't want to see us sad. Thinking about this is the only thing that makes feel a little better about this situation.

Ah yes, John envisioned a Happily-Ever-After with Yoko from the very beginning. No matter what anyone will think of Yoko, John loved her more than anything or anyone else. He got off on the wrong foot with Cynthia but luck gave him a second chance, and this time he was not going to make the same mistake with Yoko as he did with Cynthia. And even if they ended up with another little trooper (Sean) on their journey, John decided to show the child love and understanding like a good father, an opportunity he squandered with Julian, and look how both of them have turned out. Though I don't recall the part about Ireland though.
