Live at the Evergreen Cultural Center on the theme of Mental Health.
Kevin grew up gay in suburban Lower Mainland during the 80's and 90's when attitudes towards queerness were evolving, but not nearly as accepting as they are in many places today. The homophobia he encountered changed who he was as a person and contributed to his internalized homophobia and subsequent alcohol use disorder.
Kevin shares how the adversities he encountered during his adolescence as a gay teen are typical of stressors faced by queer youth, the risk factors associated with those stressors, and what has facilitated his gradual shift towards greater self-acceptance and compassion.
