Incredible game! I bought it based on your review & played a 3P game the other night. Loved every minute of it, so much tension!!! We decided to do a once around bid for each country instead of the random distribution of bonds though, got it off to a very interesting start!

Great overview. Been a long time coming, but I just picked this up for 20 bucks. We need more Mac Gerts.

Great video... probably not in my group’s wheelhouse (it doesn’t “look like fun”). I could definitely see giving it a try when in the right mood. Cheers Steve.

Cheers mate. As it said in the review it looks terrible but plays great. People expect more these days probably due to Kickstarter mini invasion.

Imperial and/or Imperial 2030 are games i considered getting but i hated the artwork so much i held back. Hoping one day they get the Brass: Lancashire treatment.

I’d be salivating for that...just imagine 🤔

I'm reviewing this for a two player game today. I prefer it at larger play counts, but not this time.

So... this is a shot in the dark, but I'm seeing if you've played anything like the game I'm about to describe ... because I played it like over 20 years ago and can't remember it. It was kinda like Risk, simplifed world conquest, but it had an elegant currency system with a stock market. from what I remembered, you had to spend simple amounts of funding to attack and move your armies around (had some basis in Art of War iirc). So that was interesting in itself. The stock market was way elegant to run: either invest or sell. If you invested you paid money at the current rate to place your color pips on the track, increasing its value. OR, you sell as many of your pips as you want all for the current value ... with all players on the same board at once it created a horrible boom/bust cycle within 3 different tracks. But yeah, it had a forgettable name, and I forgot it. If those mechanics sound at all familiar to you, please let me know. I'd like to look into it again and see if it's as fun as I remembered.

Can you remember who published it? Was it a mass market MB type game or more of an Avalon hill thing?
@jonathonfreeman92333 жыл бұрын
@@BoardGameBollocks Don't remember publisher, but here's a potential clue... It had a very minimalist design aesthetic of limited colors with slightly abstracted iconography. (which was well made and fit the high-think of the game ... think DOS style white icons using vector drawn graphics) ... During late 90s, MB games (and even larger niche games) were all about full paintings and such, so I'd wager it was probably a bit more non-mass-market.

Having thought about it Wealth of Nationa springs to mind but that wasn’t a war game as such so I doubt that’s the game you’re thinking of

Haha... Why you you even try to play Imperial at 6 players. Imperial is best at 4 players. 3 and 5 works but why 6. Try sticking to 4. Don't fool your self to even think playing games at the max number of players that are not rely meant to play with that amount of players. It's like playing Smallworld with 5 players it does not work....
