I planning out an Industrial Stronghold/Survivors of the Dark Age list with ~10 Russ, Grenadiers mounted in Rhinos and some Infantry mounted in Cargo-8 Haulers. All represented by my pile of Steel Legion models. Oh yes, and a Baneblade.

Thanks for the deep dive. Will be running Armoury of Old Night with Warrior elite being Skitarii vanguard heavy army with assault needlers (have 80 made and painted up), Kataphrons as Ogryns, dunecrawlers as leman russ's. If I had more Skitarii rangers would have done Armoury+Cybernetic so that you could move and shoot the rangers with lasrifles.

I would mix up the russes - bring some executioners to worry marine blobs, and maybe even demos to worry custodes/mech (although they are pricier for some bizarre reason). Also the field guns - maybe, just maybe, the kaliopes could be good as an alternative? Do watch out for your infantry evaporating, though. you need that Line, and your 6 infantry squads are it - so you'll need to protect them somehow. Also be wary of outflanking, which will ruin your russes' day.

See I think the heavy lascannons don’t need to be heavy las, just troop choice las teams which are cheaper and only really lose 1 Str

You asked me what I'd take in a list. It's this. :P I don't rate executioners or demos over the Brutal 2 Vanquishers for the points. Also don't rate the other field guns when you can have a LasDestroyer/Heavy Las. Again, this is just what I'd personally take based on playing/rules. Feel free to just ignore it 😁

@@playfulruss4227 agree 100% on the With the executioners id think they were great if they were S8 (or even to make them S8 for doubling out) but i just think that S8 brutal 2 wins out vs the real killer marine units

You've missed a trick with Feral Warriors - that's that it's incredible with ogryns. 2 points for a chainsword on your ogryns who are also WS5 on the charge is really really good.

I am really loving this, it is very open for creativity woth models and themes or at least it seems to ve. Thabk you for doing this 😁 i am going to mae up a list that is artillery and tank heavy going for a Krieg like army, printing off some cool minis atm from The Makers Cult and some others going for a dark dull theme eith thrm ss well, Grays, blacks with hints of blues in it. Make them look neither like bad guys or good guys (no such thing really but still) ha I really like feel and thene first in my armies. Gaming is just a bonus for me winning or losing isnt a big deal for me, i want to enjoy looking at something cool i made whilenusing them.

Hm, something about Cavalry with Furious Charge and Chainaxes sounds kinda fun. Certainly not game-breaking but definitely fun to swing at Strength 5 Shred attacks on the charge!

I'd love to build an Allied Force for my Raven Guard resembling some Rebels who want to take their planet back from the traitors. So I thought about running some GSC Atalan Jackals with Head Swaps as Militia Cavalry. The problem is that they would look ridiculous with lances. Has anyone here an idea how they could be reasonably playable without lances or what could be a nice "count as" for the lances that fits better with bikes?

What would you say for example to running minimum size squads of the cavalry guys with shotguns just to make life easier for melee units (especially when running militia as allies for a Legion army)?

You could try something like a shaped charge on a stick for a Mad Max aesthetic.

I don't think they're the best without lances (very expensive for a faster infantry squad), but maybe you could do mad max style explosive javelins poking up from the back!

Just a stupid question because it sounds just too ridiculous not to mention it: The mechanised sub type says nothing about being able to use a transport, does it? And Sentinels are infantry, mechanised, bulky 5. Does that mean that you can carry 4 sentinels in a Cargo-8 Hauler? 🤣

Ye the aux rifles were great really, fire and then charge with the levy’s! Tbh I always used to end up spending more than that on my provenances: warrior elite was 50 alone!
