Out of curiosity, I decided to check out some online psychic services, apps and tools. I hope it doesn't affect your opinion of me to know that in a past life I murdered my only friend.

Rocks, minerals and geology in general, have become huge special interests... especially over the past decade, while trying to further deconstruct, self evaluate, pull down my mask (late neurospicy dx at 40) and "figure out my why's" (why do I keep repeating this cycle in friendships, romantic relationships and even in my family and work relationships/experiences). I was always fascinated with them, from as far back as I can remember... any gift shop I went in, you could find me in the little section with different pocket rocks, mineral and fossil specimens etc... I've been slowly turning a few of my passion interests into a way to try to enjoy my time as a cog in our capitalist machine... art, creating, jewelry making, crystals/minerals, mineralogy, geology and the years of passionate research from the scientific process where/how the beauties are created to more witchy woo woo things .... I guess I'm more a lover and if I'd have to "worship" anything/anyone, it's our amazing momma earth! Oops got distracted by my 5yo and now I completely lost my train of thought... not even gonna bother editing this down. I'll try to remember to come back later.

As a crystal girlie (gender neutral) sometimes they are just for Funsies. Like I do tarot. I think it's let predictive and more psychology- you pull a card that has a meaning it is going to draw thoughts and memories to the surface of something that may be bothering you and help you think of problem solving solutions for it. It's like a introspection guidance tool. That's not to say this is everyone's mentality about it and hence you get the charlatans
@thoughtsofelizabeth
@thoughtsofelizabeth Ай бұрын
I was actually going to say the same thing. I also draw a card nearly every day and write about it. I've actually got 2 tarot planners from the same company which ask for slightly different things. It's a good way to give myself some slow reflection time in the morning and also to connect with my intuition for things about myself. I am also a gender neutral crystal girlie (N.B. of the world unite!) with several crystals. I carry some around with me and have a few in the apartment? Will they solve my problems? No. Will holding a tiger's eye for protection give me the courage to walk away from a bad situation? It can't hurt. It is likely to be a placebo effect but I really don't care. I'm not buying crystals instead of taking my asthma meds or using tarot cards to cure my bipolar disorder. I'm not going to stop taking my medications, refuse to live within my means or saying hello to people because of some woowoo. I'm all for woo. I'm a practicing witch and pagan. I also have a hard science background, specifically geology and clay minerology and while i know that the chemical formula for quartz is SiO2, i have no problems using it to give a little umph to what i do. But it's still not a replacement for other forms of responsibility. So yes, bring a crystal to your next doctor's appointment. Don't show it to anyone...but you may find that knowing it's in your pocket helps you accept what the doctor is telling you so you can take the next steps.

When you mentioned that Meg passed away, my first thought was "I bet they're channeling her from the Beyond". Also, Germany's High Court has ruled that you can't advertise with something (e.g. unlimited data) and then contradict that in the fine print (2 GB at full speed, afterwards it's slower than dial-up). There hasn't been a ruling on psychic services in particular yet, but I definitely think they should fall under this. listen, i love a good chuckle at a horoscope or a fun tarot reading, random astrology stuff can be interesting sometimes but i think where i draw the line between like harmless goofing and dangerous advice is when particularly vulnerable people get sucked into these mystic/psychic readings, or even like pagan/witchy type spells and they take it so seriously that it actually causes harm to themselves and/or others. maybe this is a hot take idk but i feel like love spells/twin flames type shit is often a cover for women/girls to do what a lot of men do (though men i feel are more likely to be more outwardly violent/dangerous, I think whatever the sex/gender involved, it's Not Good) which is that they refuse to take no for an answer when someone says hey sorry I'm really not interested and they take it as a challenge instead of oh maybe i should just leave this person alone and respect their boundaries.

Not only does every other shop sell either crystald or books of mysticism, but one of the biggest shops on the high street it's dedicated to selling, essentially spell components. It's called "star child" and it's filled with big jars of strange things. Imagine something from a harry potter attraction, except not intended as a fantasy but for people who take it seriously. Anyone on the spectrum between "conventional medecine is a scam, you should take rose petals for that" and full on "I'm making an potion to summon the protection of the goddess of the marshes" EDIT: oh wait, I didn't even mention that the reincarnation of jesus also had his school/temple/whatever on the high street. please, don't compare star child's stock to harry potter mumbo jumbo. wizardry b*llshit like "a horn from a unicorn" or "an angel's feather" is not at all what they sell. it's mostly books, candles, crystals, and herbs, amongst varying divination tools and decorative items like statues. or just general tools; think mortar and pestle. if you're going to attempt to criticize anything, you should do your research beforehand. glastonbury is a great place for witches and/or occult practitioners, not so much for anti-vaxxers and modern medicine rejectionists.

I'm totally a magpie goblin, I buy the pretty rocks from the crystals shop because they are good fidget and make the clacks. I also own a couple of tarot sets because I like looking at the pretty pictures, and I once played a DND character who did her spellcasting through tarot.

Ooh, that DnD character sounds cool. My game of Scion is currently on hold while the DM is waiting for the next rulebook to be released. If we ever get back to it, I'll have to take a closer look and see if I can incorporate that into my character (a daughter of Erzulie). She already has a tarot deck, but it's only used for an insight/scrying skill IIRC - and most of the time I don't get to that point when the rest of the party is children of Thor and such, who'll just jump right into combat.

Former psychic here to pitch in a bit of info. There's a connection between people who are OCD and people who believe they're psychic, cause we spend so much time hyper fixating on minute details and anxiously looking for patterns that our brain kinda manufactures scenarios with enough accuracy that we begin to believe we're psychic and then conformation bias kicks in and we get lost in the sauce. Took a lot of therapy for me to realize I am not indeed a psychic , just a dude with OCD and schizophrenia.

If you're getting into rocks, ocean jasper tends to be really pretty. I like it because it has a few different variations and has different layers in it, unlike most other stones i find when i go looking. That, and dendritic opal. I have a dendritic opal necklace and it's my favorite necklace. Just smile and nod when the person working at the rock store tells you about the magical qualities of the stones if you don't plan to come back; if you do plan on returning, feel free to let them know you're there for the stone and not magic.

Hello Emma, firstly, happy pride month from here in the states. Secondly, if you enjoy these spiritual ideas and the skeptic analysis. If you have not had the pleasure, I would recommend Caitlin Doughty's videos on spiritualism, spirit photography, and death culture from Ask a Mortician. Her videos touch on how these ideas relate and have been commercialized in the death culture and funeral culture, and I think you would get a kick out of viewing them and analyzing them to go along with these kind of skepticism reviews. Much love and keep up the amazing work. 💙💙

I did the Past Life Calculator and it said this: "Drowned In your past life, you died an unfortunate death by drowning. This might explain why you have this inexplicable fear of swimming in dark and murky waters - who knows what is lurking under there... This might have meant that you were a sailor on the explorer voyages, or possibly a fisherman proving for his family." This can't be true. I don't fear the dark water at all. Regarding murky water, it's more concern about dirty water rather than fear. Also, the fear death question, I absolutely agree. I don't fear the action of dying. What I'm afraid is that there's nothing after. I want there to be something afterwards and I want to have an agency in it, like whether I want to choose to reincarnate or stay in whatever form the afterlife would take. I don't so much believe in reincarnation as I am hoping for it to be an option. And if there is an afterlife, I think the experience of it would be totally alien and foreign to us because it would be just our soul existing without a body.
