The pastors would decry Halloween for having fun and celebratory elements while also denouncing the fun and celebratory elements of Christmas. My family used to sacrifice a goat on the altar every year to Asmodeus and the dark Lord Satan when I was a kid. These little brats now, though, they might, MIGHT ritualistically slaughter a cat or something and maybe recite an incantation but that's usually about it.
