I'm in my 20's and I find much of this talk about older wrestling much more interesting than a lot of stuff today. It's because of Jims podcast and the 6:05 Super Podcast that I've looked up and watched as much of this stuff as I can. What a time it must have been to be a wrestling fan
@jessieb93845 жыл бұрын
Then and then from about 97-05 was a great time to be a fan its just mostly depressing now
@timf74134 жыл бұрын
The one thing I don't think a lot of modern fans get about that time is that although there was more wrestling, the average fan didn't really have the opportunity to see, or even be aware, of most of it. For the most part, people were restricted to whatever it was their local territory happened to present.

As a native of North West Missouri, I find it hilarious that nothing exciting happens here but there is alot of talk of towns within 20 minutes. St. Joseph, Chillicothe, Hannibal, Cameron, etc. I'm from the same town that Harley Race was born and buried in, so there had to be a certain amount of wrestling here.
@ThatTransMuffinOfficial2 жыл бұрын
As a native Daytonian and history nerd, I would like to touch on the WLWD subject. WLW was the flagship station of Crosley Broadcasting corporation which also consisted of WLWT in Cincinnati and WLWC in Columbus. Initially WLWC and WLWD did broadcast programs sent via Microwave from WLW; however they were also NBC affiliates, had connections with Dumont, and WLWD played some ABC programs. WLWD was officed in a former Skate rink in Moraine. WLWD was the first tv station liscensed in Dayton, but didn't get to air until 20 days after WHIO. After Crosley Broadcasting Corporation (later renamed Avco) left broadcasting and separately sold off the sister stations (WLWD being sold to Grinnell College in Iowa), the station became WDTN which it still exists as today as an NBC affiliate. The call sign WLWD is currently used by a radio station in Springfield. Unfortunately I can't really find much information about their broadcasting of pro wrestling.
