Looking forward to the vid, my goal at the end of this season is to get a ultraview hinge and make the transition for next year. I use a index release and am pretty accurate with it but I know I punch it even if it's ever so slightly. My biggest concern is anchoring with a hinge with layers of clothes on being a mobile Treestand whitetail hunter.

You said it perfectly Dan, when you shot the handheld and the index, when you said " about the handheld, WHERE DID I PUT IT" that's the only reason I like an index, eventhough I shoot better with a handheld . Index is always ready .

Shot my target buck here in NY with the UV hinge this year. Coming off an index then a nock 2 it. It just felt incredible with a true surprise shot, best shot I ever made on an animal

@@braden2374 I love it, definitely get a shot trainer if you don’t have one to get the feel for it before shooting with it. But once you start shooting one it’s hard to go back to anything else. I bought a Stan SX3 to hunt with because I wasn’t sure if I was going to commit to the hinge for hunting, but I just wasn’t as accurate with it so I stuck with the hinge and I’m glad I did

I've been shooting an index since I started. I've put a fair amount of work at getting a surprise release but it's still easy to feel that trigger and command it. I'm looking at the Stan onnex resistance release. Looks like the best way to always get that surprise release.

Index release for life!!! Boils down to what you personally shot best. However, I'll never shoot a thumb release myself.

Tim , I'm hunting whitetail with the hinge this year. It's a little noisy in the tree if not careful. But it's the only way I can shoot effectively. My T.P. became so brutal I couldnt even get my eye in the peep without hammering the trigger. The hinge saved hinting for me !! Great content to all of you thanks for putting out these great vids !!

I shot a thumb release during the off-season and grabbed by trusty Carter RX1 for the opener BUT had my STAN as backup...other way around as Dan. Either way practice both. BTW I dropped my Stan between targets at a 3D shoot last summer. Thank goodness there's still some honest folks in this world as I got to the next target the group behind us approached and asked if someone had dropped a release. Sure enough, it was my Stan. Phew.

I’ve been going back-and-forth from my Carter RX-1 and my Carter Chocolate addiction for few years. Last year I put down the RX 1 And started shooting the handheld religiously in the off-season and also hunted with it. I finally became one with it. I prefer the handheld. Although I can pull more weight with an index and wrist strap I still prefer the handheld

5:21 🤣 really enjoyed the vid, I use a Stan element which I understand is more a training release but it's comfy and makes sense to me👍 thanks for the uploads

Hand held vs wrist strap? I’ve shot a half held for several years. I just like the way they anchor and feel when shooting. Last winter I switched it up to a wrist strap. The only thing is I am activating the trigger with my middle finger. This puts my hand in a more vertical position when I anchor, much like my hand held. Wrap my finger around the trigger and pull through the shot. Just something to tinker with. Me personally, I’m loving it.

Do handheld button releases help you shoot more accurate than the index trigger? And can you please post a link for the type of handheld release you're using?

I left my whole bag on a back country hunt to stalk up on a elk and had to spend a whole afternoon back tracking luckily I was able to find my pack with my quiver and all my gear inn it. Not smart but totally forgot when we took off after a bull.
