Love that they are still using the Leyland logo. Doing things the British side failed on all those years ago

The British failed because they could not get away paying their workers less than INR 15000 a month with no insurance, retirement or unemployment benefits. Much of India's productivity in manufacturing is due to worker exploitation. The country is literally using people as slaves just as the American South did.

Felt nostalgic watching this video, down the memory lanes 30 years ago I have put my hands on every inch of this vehicle whether engine, gearbox, rear axle, differential, front axle etc. The truck is very robust, rugged and requires less maintenance. The factory looks lot cleaner than my visit few decades ago. It is incorrect to say not every engine gets tested. Every engine goes rigorous testing and key parameters such as Kilometers per liter, Brake Horse Power, IHP, Thermal efficiency, engine oil consumption, exhaust parameters etc. Trust me you don't need a girl friend if you start loving these machines. They don't lie.

Ahh... I was an intern there in Hosur P2 working on automating the stallion hood assembly during 96/97. True, learnt a lot. Until then I used to love TATA but after this I developed a fond liking for Iveco and the Taurus. Great to hear about your experience too.... Cheers mate.

you should make a video on cummins inida , they have 24 facilities producing every part of engine and emission systems.

Cummins started its operations in India in 1962, in collaboration with Kirloskar oil engines Ltd. Later both separated, and both are successful manufacturers of diesel generators.

Ashok Leyland should also launch Bonneted ,SFC ( Simi Forward Contol) models in India, particularly Tippers and Trucks in the range of 8 to 16 Ton GVW for Mountainous and Hilly States and Regions market, where this type of models is very popular among operators and Transporter.

Even though an old company it still produces shoddy products. Particularly its passenger vehicles are nightmare. Still front engine buses, engines are noisy and rattle. Front looks are ugly and internal fabrications, luggage compartments are primitive. The company philosophy is to keep the price low and to accommodate as many passengers as possible without keeping in mind their comforts. They look only after the interests of the bus- truck owners.

The heavy duty trucks of ashok leyland uses hino sourced engines. I wish they could develop more in house engines. I think they have thier own engine called neptune which is used in military grade trucks.
