This video is fantastic! It helped me replace my carburetor on my MTD Series 600 circa 2008. It's been dead since 2016. Brother, you saved me a lot of heartache. And a lot of money no doubt. One year old Troy built 2660, couldn't get it started. Starter fluid through the spark plug hole I could get a brief Pop or two. But that was it. Took the carburetor apart give it a good old cleaning, found a goober in the hole of that screw in the center of the carburetor that had the jets on the other side. Blew it out cleaned it, put it all back together and it fired right up. I mean I was going to bring it to a local power equipment company for warranty service, but you know how that goes. They would have found something that wasn't covered so they could make a few bucks. Once again, thank you very much for this detailed video.
@IndRepair5 жыл бұрын
Sure thing Marty! Sad part is that the quality of fuel was probably the only issue with your one year old troy bilt. Taken in for warranty work you would have waited 2-4 weeks and been told you would have to pay for it any way most times since fuel issues are not covered under warranty
@marty19665 жыл бұрын
@@IndRepair you are exactly right, they told me on the phone that fuel issues are not covered by warranty. So if I drained my fuel last year, but still had a clog. What do you recommend? It's August and I am working on a 26" Yard Machines snow blower! It is electric start, that works good, and it will fire up on a shot of starting fluid into the spark plug hole. NOW, getting all of the covering off to get to the carburetor for removal. Your video told me about the hidden bolt(s) that I have to find that are behind the electric start push button. My only concern at this point, is getting the emulsion tube out of the carb. I know that a perfect fitting screw driver to remove the jet below it is mandatory. Just what I needed to know - how to get to the carb in the most efficient way. Only difference I can see is mine has another bolt between the front of engine and snow chute. I'm just going to swap out the carb cuz I know it's the problem. Son-in-law let it sit unused for 5 years after I gave it to him and there was no gas in the float bowl when I checked even though gas tank was half full. I smelled turpentine trying to start it which I assume (but don't know) might be cuz gas that has started to destabilize and break down might smell like. It's only about ~$25 for a replacement on Azon and I have had excellent results with doing the same on my lawnmower and power washer. My Yard Machines 2410 uses a Powermore 179cc engine (which is a rebranded MTD OEM). However the choke, speed, prime pump, on/off key and top cover are all in the same location. I might add that I can't believe there is not a fuel filter of gas shutoff valve. WTF??

Great video, question the screw above the top jet @7:08 in your video, when reinstalling this does it have a specfic position or just bottom the screw out?
@IndRepair5 жыл бұрын
You will screw it in usually so about 1/4" is sticking out the back side. This is the low idle stop. If the unit is all the way on slow idle, this controls how fast or slow it runs at that point. It will not affect full throttle speed, unless there is an underlying issue from an air leak, bad fuel or a plugged up carburetor. Any of those could make it surge.

Video quality is poor especially with the verticle portion. Always like a good laugh though! Thanks for watching and for your comment!

I can't see anything. You probably know what you are talking about and very good at fixing this, but I can't figure out what came out of where...

Sound like you know what you are doing, but there are too many out of view shots. A novice need to see every details

I did the video because there is not another one out there that I could find. Just trying to help a couple people in the process. We are professional small engine repair technicians not videographers. I hope it is well enough explained that a perfect shot doesn't matter that much. Thanks for the input!

I`m a novice and understood what he was showing us.

Well your video saved me 399 bucks that our local small engine repair dude wanted. He said these are junk and just need to buy a rebuilt snow blower with a better engine. I'm like Lmao.

Why not just use Sea Foam? Da!
@IndRepair6 жыл бұрын
Doesn't work hardly ever. Helps sometimes when something is running currently but without that forget about it!

Tried seafoam, no help. Used 3 times recommended amount on can.

I agree, the deposits are solid and the fuel cant flow through the carb. If the carb is partially blocked, there is a good chance it will work. I love the Seafoam as a preventative. I like to add when filling the can and change every 4 months. On the blower, I buy fresh in Dec and drain in April.

Invest in a tripod, really!! What good is a video when you keep moving off the subject because you are doing this one-handed. Ridiculous to even attempt to make a video one-handed. Or better yet get someone to hold the camera while you use both hands. You camera is too close as well.

Mr Frank yeah but I am a mechanic. Just trying to help a few out. Maybe one day. Thanks for your input!

It was a good video. You seem pretty unappreciative. He didn`t have to make the video to help you out.

Awesome video very informative. One question, where does the blower hose go? is there a tube from the casing that it goes into?
@IndRepair6 жыл бұрын
Not sure exactly what you are talking about with this. There is a hose that goes from the right side of valve cover to the connection on the bottom of the air intake if that is what you mean...
