Very cool. It's so hard to get good info on these plants. I know things are constantly changing with plants, but I find googling many things has become almost useless. Thank you for being someone who asks questions, seeks answers and shares with us.

Cool find and info. I’m still on the crème Brûlée is marketing bs, but love the origin story. Mints are intriguing me more and more. Definitely see one in my future. I really appreciate your explanation. Plant 100k seeds and pic out the mutant. Kind of like Kunzo getting the tri color. I had always thought of it like a cross pollination or hybrid situation, but the reality is more natures lottery. Grow millions and find the “one”. Hope you have more show footage coming up!

Man, about a year ago I bought a pot of 4 monstera del (large) grown from seed. The seller though one was aurea (it was) but what they hadn't noticed was there was a mint in there too. Some how, 4 seedlings planted together ended up with two of them being spontaneous variegates.... Insane probability

$5,800! I love your enthusiasm. That must have been So much fun. I was gifted a Thi Constellation 1 small leaf cutting for my birthday back in Huntington Beachc, California . We moved to Maricopa, Az. I babied that Thi like no tomorrow. Im talking humidifiers yet so many plants did not transition well from my Father in-laws to our home now. I had a huge fish tank and as any fish snob at a pet store will say "Goldfish (I had Fancy ones) are dirty fish." I'd simply smile and in my head I'd say "Yeah, yeah , yeah they are nasty little buggers and they should be punished. But all my plants on my deck will love every water change. They did I had an elephant ear 14" tall with ears I could stand behind. Everything was massive.The fish tank I sold before the move. I see your videos, your excitement and I run out to my little Thi and chant grow grow grow! One day I will get a nice thi from you soon. What if and supplements do you use? I do not see many plant shows coming this way so I will just live vicariously through you! I enjoyed this video very much, All are great. Keep the investigating ones coming too!!

Very interesting. If 1 in 100,000 has variegation, I wonder how often one will actually be unique enough for a new name. Or are they mostly Thai Con/Albo.
@prettyingreen Жыл бұрын
I’m curious when we’re going to understand which conditions create variegation-I’ve heard heavy metals. Then maybe people will use that to create it more often?

In videos and photos those white part looks superb and flawless, but in real live those perfection only last for a few days, then they turn brown and withered away except for the green "useful" to the plant parts ...

I wish I did genetics as part of the research I do... because not to knock my mans at all. I wonder if those are honestly distinct plants and if allowed to cross pollinate with their kin would it stay that way. or are they only variations that that can be propagated to maintain that coloration.

This is sick. I'd love to have the space to grow 100,000 from seed and just grab the few I love, or try to find even weirder variegation. The cannabis community has been in overdrive with that same method for the past decade. But then taking it a step further with selective and cross breeding. And it's even easier because pollination and reproduction can be done so quickly. So one can grow multiple generations in a single year. Pick your faves for breeding, get more seeds, rinse and repeat.
@prettyingreen Жыл бұрын
Breeding plant has been a dream for years… I wish I had the space. But really just need to try a few Anthuriums! Yes, cannabis is for sure ahead in this! Hopefully tropicals will catch up soon 😊
