They eventually got into a single line the exact width of the opening. Holy crap that's amazing. I don't think we have bees totally figured out. How pheromones and a little dance could do that is just beyond me

My Dad used to capture bee swarms out of the woods by using a box he made for that purpose..... It was about 15 inches wide and long and about 12 inches high..... Along the bottom of the box he drilled a hole about 3/4 inches..... He would set the box near the swarm and then start tapping on the back of the box..... Just like magic they would start marching into the box just like in your video..... Once they were all inside he wrapped the box in an oil cloth and carried it home and reversed the process by tapping on the back of his bee hive.... all the bees would transfer from one box to the other..... I thought he was a magician..... this was in the 40s and I was about 10 years old....

I stumbled onto one of your videos yesterday and haven't stopped watching. I love bee's and we need them so much and they are dying off around the world in record numbers so the work you do is greatly needed and should be seen by millions instead of thousands. Thanks again.

Watching the march was awesome! Feeling the vibration of their buzzing in my hands as I was holding the phone while watching your video was unexpected and interesting. For some reason, I sure do like the sound that the bees make when you shake them onto wood. Thank you for the work that you do.

Wow! Never seen anything like that before! I think they marched in so quickly because they were happy to have a safe hive of their own. No more rainy nights for them. Great job JP!

we have an anthill outside of our house.... most people would consider them to be pests, but because they're a pretty good distance from our house and usually mind to themselves we decided to keep them. They're actually quite nice, and if anything they're almost a fun feature to the house just to sometimes go outside when we get high, and play with them. Of course then again they're not a gigantic bee colony like this guy has. but then again it's a fun time to play with them, and if anything we've learned that the colony gets smaller and weaker without a little bit of hastle, so durring the sping and summer when the colony looks weak we will often jab at it with a stick and stirr them up... then we'll put our cat's uh... gifts in there, where the ants will gladly take the meal.

Not so much of a hive mind, just basic instructions that work well together. One bee might go inside the box, climb around, and return to the group. It advertises its location, and other bees try out the location. The flyers were probably trying to find a spot to move into, but since they were there for ~3 days, likely hadn't found anything. So when one bee finds a good spot, others check it out, one might find the honey, and soon all of the exploration bees are reporting that this box is a good place. The rest of the bees are getting told 'dry, food, enclosed', and deciding to move in.

I've never seen any bee-capture video with them willingly marching into boxes until I came accross your channel a few days ago. You're kinda like the Crocodile Hunter of Beekeeping, where you work with their natural instincts to get them to do things you want while sticking to your own natural physical abilities (using hands option when available instead of vacs, ect). ^_^

That has to be the coolest thing I’ve ever saw in the big world...just watching them suckers take off marching onto their new home is amazing...I’ve allergic to stings all my life and when I was younger I used to think that the world would be better if all the stinging insects and everything else just died but when I got a little older I realized 2 things...bees usually only sting in a defensive mode and 2 they are a huge benefit for our eco system...they pollinate and gives us honey so we have to save those little Assassins lol....great job JB thanks...

I helped my dad get a swarm down from a tree once. I climbed the tree and tied a rope around the branch and tossed it over a branch higher up, to lower it down. I started sawing with a small handsaw and all was good. When the branch cut loose it slower started swingjng to me. I was trying to get down but the hive bumped into my thigh. Man i froze!! Some of the bees started to crawl onto me but thankfully my dad was able to pull the swarm away from me with the rope. I had at least a few dozen bees still on me and I wasn't wearing a suit. Most eventually rejoined the swarm and my dad dusted the ones off me that didn't fly away. Not one bee died and I didn't get stung but man I was a nervous wreck for little bit lol!
