Assuming that it's an elite's weapon the guy using it could be heavily armored.
@Redguns4life3 ай бұрын
@@blackpowderkun Wouldn't really matter, the armor used by Indians during this time weren't immune to military arrows. At best, it'd only slow it down enough that you didn't outright die. The Irumi is a ceremonial weapon meant to demonstrate one's mastery, not a practical weapon. Anyone dumb enough to actually use outside of a duel or skill showcase would quickly get shot by a dozen arrow or poked to death by a mob of angry spearmen.
@blackpowderkun3 ай бұрын
@Redguns4life probably can be used against unarmored enemies like bandits or animals for self defense, given that leather whips can painfully numb limbs, plus its easy enough to carry along with regular weapons. Given that indians can armor elephants pretty sure they can make them arrow proof(unless you refer to gaps and weakpoints).

The Bamboo Branch, "wolf brush", was so successful because it is so hard that the Katana Japanese pirates use, can't cut it down, and even worse, it was designed with branches intentionally left on, with perfect hardness. The katanas Japanese pirates use, will stuck inside on the Wolf brush. And they can't pull it out, because the operator handling wolf brush can easily poke him while he's trying to pull his katana out of the branch. It perfectly defeated Katanas from a range of safety. Greetings from Taiwan. ^_^

I'm thinking it was used to make a hard, flaky coating that the poison was more able to absorb into so it wouldn't get washed off with one rain or gush of blood allowing a lot of poisonings without any additional preparation.
