At about 27:00 the reference should be for the show Columbo, episode named "Dagger of the Mind." I must have copy-pasted that text area in the editing program the wrong way and a later reference when discussing the song "Clownheads" overwrote it.

I saw a lot of stories like that in other comments and articles, including a couple from Critic reviews on imdb of the 2021 ICP documentary "The United States of Insanity." I'm glad to hear you were taken care of, and Juggalo or not it shows the importance of having and sharing respect and humanity to each other. None of us need to be Juggalos or any other label to be good people, after all.

My buddy showed me ICP and their music and ever since I have been a Juggalo, I'm 28 now and it's been a honor to be at some of their performances. Never been to a gathering yet, but would love to go and see the all the love my juggalo family has to offer sometime! WHOOOP WHOOOP!!

I wish I could find it again so I could share it in the video, but one of my favorite things I saw on youtube from a gathering years ago was Gilbert Gottfried doing standup in front of a crowd of Juggalos. They kept chanting but not heckling, and you could see he had this "what have I gotten into?" expression before it felt like he just dropped what his planned routine was and got into the spirit of it, having fun with the crowd and looking like he was having the time of his life. He led chants about late night hosts, complained about a Santa Claus falling asleep during his Aristocrats routine, and a VERY funny moment involving a Juggalo in the crowd backing him up over Aflac culminating in a plush duck tossed on stage for him to react with. If there's anything that could show how Juggalos want people to just let loose and enjoy themselves together I think that would be it.

I never listened to an ICP song until I went to the Gathering. One of my best friends is a Juggalo and convinced all of my best friends to go to the Gathering. I was baptized as a Juggalo in Faygo during ICPs first set at the Gathering of Dreams. This year will be my third Gathering and I am now proud to call myself a Juggalo. I was born in 1996 and missed all of ICPs development over the years, but I love learning the lore and getting closer to the community. This is really an incredibly special community. @millennialseniorproductionsАй бұрын
I remember some people reacting "well do they have to give the message that way?" and that's something I kept in mind when making the points in the video, especially comparing rap to country music and bringing up Johnny Cash. I know there's plenty others out there that approach giving a positive message in similar fashion, especially in music, but couldn't think of any examples I could make clear comparisons to. Some of the old-time radio programs of the 40-50's got pretty dark and rough though in their process of making a message. Dragnet's "22 for Christmas" comes to mind.

In the Wicked Wonka Tour video I used (and I don't know if it gets shown in this video) there was a point J kept diving in the crowd and security at the front of the stage made it look like they were trying to keep him from doing it again. So in response to that he ran as fast as he could to the other side of the stage and jumped out before they could get over to him. I think in the biography he mentions that he loves doing it because he felt like he was actually giving himself to the fans (might be from a random interview though). Thank you very much! I know ICP is a hard sell in general and a lot of time spent on the video was trying to make sure the points and lessons weren't overshadowed. For instance, I removed a bit of their earlier criminal stuff they openly talk about in the autobiography (including sections of Shaggy describing in detail how they did stuff like steal car radios) because I felt it was repetitive to keep saying "and they did bad stuff." I feel like the changes I put in to cover that glossed over it a little too much, but I think the point stands that their faults and stains influence how they want their current lives and their fans to be.

Great video. Everything was explained wonderfully and I appreciate the grind of laying out the lore that many newer and even non-fans that didn't get to see unfold as it was coming out. It's something that can be difficult to explain to people that try to understand but can't get past how seemingly evil and destructive forces can actually be positive figures when followed and used wisely. As for Miracles I always believed a story that J told a couple interviews I saw. Not because it explains the song but because it's an explanation that made sense. He simply stated that it came from watching his kids be fascinated by things that we as adults take for granted. Things that is just everyday life for us was magical and new to them. As a father I know exactly what he means and connect with the song on that level. Not a song to be taken as deep and meaningful. But rather a chance to stop and look at the world through the eyes of a child. Where things become new and beautiful again. A new appreciation for things we don't really stop to think about anymore.
@millennialseniorproductions3 ай бұрын
It was actually kind of fun and interesting to put it all together, and your point about the positive effects of "seemingly evil and destructive forces" is something I now wish I thought of making in the way you laid it out. And your mention of Violent J's interview about Miracles does remind me of a part in his autobiography (I can't find the page so I'm paraphrasing) where he spent a few paragraphs lamenting the loss of innocence and wonder we have as children and how he looks back fondly at his childhood. Like we're "expected" to leave it all behind as we grow up, but in doing lose part of the best things of being human.

So I've watched this video a couple times and even listened to the behind the paint audiobook, I have a hard time believing in God figures, I'm not necessarily an atheist, more of an agnostic, if I had to follow any religious belief I would follow wicca, I keep getting into arguments with people that tell me I have to be a Christian to be a juggalo, I know they're wrong because J asid it himself that he wasn't talking about any specific religion, ive also noticed that there a some homophobes/transphobes in the community, not saying it's the whole community, it just in general hurts to see people claiming to be juggalos while being judgemental and hateful, I'll always be a juggalo, until I draw my last breath, that's just the one aspect I don't like is how hypocritical some people can be within the family. Edit: I'm not gay or trans, but there are people.in my life that I care about a whole lot that are gay and trans who consider themselves juggalos, I just don't want something they love to be ruined by spiteful bigots
@millennialseniorproductions5 ай бұрын
Hypocrites and jackasses are something all groups have to deal with in their ranks, in the case of Juggalos though it seems people were/are more judgmental toward them because "easy target" or "it's just some idiots so it's okay" or something. Like you're pointing out though, sometimes in this or other groups there's the "you're not helping" or "stop making us look bad" people that just don't seem to go away. I would have brought it up in the video if it didn't require me linking to a "drama" video involving Twiztid to back it up, but there are Juggalos who are open in various comments about spending time in jail but are adamant that it was THEIR actions that did it and it shouldn't be reflected onthe community at large. And the religion thing I found ONCE a facebook group for a Juggalo unity church (or something like that) where any Juggalo of any faith could worship freely without judgement, but I couldn't find it again when I was trying to get the charities compiled and linked for the video. On the thing about "being spoiled by bigots," in what I've witnessed and read I don't think the larger community would let others get away with being that way toward your friends. Check the various photos in my link to the Juggalo March for possible proof of that.
@gutterpunk42035 ай бұрын
@@millennialseniorproductions yeah, the community at large is way accepting and loving of all kinds of people, in my experience I haven't seen too many troublemakers, and like you said all groups have their problems with people like that, the punk scene had a problem with nazi skinheads, but the rest of the community didn't put up with it, and I know that the vast majority of juggalos won't put up with any form of bigotry, it's kind of one of the major points of the whole thing, the thing that drew me to the juggalo community in the first place is the sense of acceptance no matter who you are or what you look like, it's all about that mad clown love, it's comforting to know that when I see ICP merch or the hatchet man that person has something in common with me, we're all cut from different cloths, but those cuts from all those cloths are sewn together into this big freaky ass quilt, we're all in this shit together, bonded by the Dark Carnival, we take care of our own, MMFCL 🤡🎪🎡🎢🃏🪓

I was in "get it done" mode so didn't double-check that one like most the other stuff even though that was something I did want to remember to talk about specifically. Also, the backyard they built the ring in was Shaggy 2 Dope's ma's backyard in case I said something different in the video.

I have to correct you on something: ICP never said they intended for Miracles to be funny or goofy or to go viral... In fact, they've repeatedly stated the opposite: Miracles was supposed to be 100% serious and uplifting. They were actually surprised at the public response they got from that video. This was overall a really great video though. You did a good job at going as in depth as possible and the vast majority of the information you presented was accurate as far as I can tell.
@millennialseniorproductions4 ай бұрын
I'm actually not surprised to hear that and gave the alternative thoughts in the video over it as my personal suspicions over what it may have actually been. Generally the doubt stemmed from the fact that in the autobiography (and I meant to bring it up in the Miracles bit but I actually didn't make a note to and missed it) Violent J was open in saying they like to make stuff up and screw around in interviews, at least in the days of the book, because they felt none of the news people would take them seriously and they wouldn't be the first or last to have things taken out of context. I saw plenty of times, and personally felt, that they did mean it to be an actual serious song, but either didn't find or misconstrued comments they may have made about it being a surprise it went viral. If you know where I can find that though I'll make sure to give you credit for sharing it in the community tab and hold onto it for an inevitable future video.

I have to admit that i only occasionally listen to ICP for the comedic value. I first got a Milenko tape from a friend and i found it hilarious. I still think it's a great soncept album, from the intro, the skits to the absurdist black humor and the song s are overall pretty carchy. The Jeckel Brothrs is musically the most daring i think, i like how intentionally annoying it is in parts and Mad Professor is overall one of my favorites. The two Bizzare record s have the best party beats, so to say, and the Comefy is on point. Mr. Happy, Rainbows and Tilt-A-Whirl are bangers
@millennialseniorproductions4 ай бұрын
My friend introduced me by just playing songs off Jeckel Brothers and Great Milenko while we were hanging out before going "So guess what the big finish is?" and putting in Shangri-La. And I was into it for the same reasons as you, the dark humor and general fun attitude they gave off in those albums. And I may not have said it or been clear in the video about it, but I do appreciate that ICP seems to try new sounds and styles to focus on in their albums as time goes on. That may be the producers more than them, at least early on, but they do have a lot of influences beyond the rap genre they seem to like bringing to the fore (their cover of Hungry Like the Wolf for example).

If I'm getting into someone's beliefs then I want to make sure it's respectful and not exhibitionism. Other religions/beliefs are always fascinating and interesting but I don't want to approach making a video for it as "content for the content gods." You make a good point of the parallels and I think it's worth sharing facts of it all if you're saying there's an accuracy issue. I think the best course of action would be that either any video I make would require your input and time for you to speak/share your own words on it all, or let you make your own video and I'll be sure to share it where I can. It's your beliefs, it should be you that has the floor so to speak.

@millennialseniorproductionsАй бұрын
That album and "Intelligence and Violence" I brought up in an early version of the video but removed because I didn't think I was explaining the situation surrounding them correctly and then didn't try again, settling on my "quick and dirty" comment. I also wanted to make a reference to the JJ clown in Blueballs Incident (a completely unrelated character but it was a funny coincidence), and that being fresh in my mind at the time probably also influenced me leaving it out. There's a few other things in this video I didn't cover or at least cover properly so I'm making notes for an addendum/follow-up/corrections video, because I should have focused on that and Violent J constantly collecting local rap artist cassettes as a point of how things turn out in unexpected ways. The part where I was talking "live" when bringing up interesting things about their lives later in the video was a side-effect of removing a lot of ideas and trying to put them back in without adding more weeks of work to the video.

@millennialseniorproductions2 ай бұрын
I've seen people repeatedly say/confirm he apologized and that's why I didn't want to get into who did what or make anything sound accusatory. I felt it was more important to focus on the statement that respect and recognition should always be kept for fans no matter how big or small you are. That said, to give the full summary of what I almost did discuss: The youtube channel Juggalo Drama Alert has a video "Twiztid explains beef" where they gave an interview explaining their reasons. I dont agree with their reasons but I understand them (more or less they were scared of FBI retaliation of some sort, but logically they'd already be on the list, and they seemingly felt the march wouldn't accomplish much toward the end goal), however they did say they would have helped with legal funds instead of do the march. And they have had Juggalos stick with them, and some show up to heckle them. However the march isn't the only problem between ICP and Twizted, some people didn't show up for the march according to the website but still appeared in more than one later Gathering of the Juggalos. The "real" beef between ICP and Twizted's record label surrounds a very personal thing I'm not getting into, but again some people on that label have still shown up at Gatherings unless I got dates wrong. I don't want to drag things into the light unless necessary because I don't want to risk drama or other such things, my focus is on recognition of creator accomplishments and inspiration or lessons that can be taken from their works and experiences. And honestly, I do hope they work things out and work together again.

RUSH, Reo Speedwagon and Styx are three groups I grew up with enjoying thanks to my father playing them in the car all the time. In fact, the Arch Allies album where Reo Speedwagon and Styx play each other's songs at the end of a live show together was what gave me the idea of bringing up ICP and Eminem burying the hatchet by covering each other's songs, though Reo and Styx didn't have any animosity with each other.

I'll admit I had conflicting feelings about Fearless Fred Fury and Yum Yum Bedlam, maybe something about how Violent J sings differently at times. I won't disagree with you though, can't put it in words but I get what you're saying. On my side of things, I'm easy to please though and listen to a bit of something from all their albums, pretty much like I do with other artists, but it seems most of my actual favorites (not all) come from Mike E. Clark's involvement. Other than that, as I've hinted at in the past, I try not to speak like my opinions are what should be taken as "correct," I feel it's best comments and opinions like yours should be part of the discussion more than mine.

I find the recomendations aspect hilarious on account the video is partially blocked for only one copyright notice for Riddle Box (the song). All other music used was noted as allowed for use, which I kinda expected ICP would do as independent artists wanting to make sure their work is spread far and wide. Might just be a leftover thing from the old record labels. Also you remind me I really should look up their wrestling commentary stuff.

Great job on this video! The lore of ICP is what totally gripped me years ago. It was so exciting to explore their catalog and have all these puzzles to solve and dots to connect. Regarding the Pendulum comic series, they released a CD single along with each issue which is where those tracks like The Great Show and $50 Bucks come from. I still got the Pendulum singles in my CD book. 🥲

The lore definitely sucked me in and got me started with them more than anything, and it was fun trying to figure out where everything fit in their mythos even before working on this video. Hopefully those singles stay safe, I can't imagine what it would take to replace them these days.
